I had 4 babies (all back labor, 9+ lbs., all natural) and l never had that mushy gushy “I’m in love” moment as soon as they were born. I was too exhausted to appreciate what just happened. It took months, maybe a year to get over the trauma of my first birth and really love my baby. He’s 39 now and I kinda like him.

I appreciate this so much. You sound like my mom, who I know loves me endlessly…but she just kind of likes me 😂😂 but I mostly appreciate the honestly with the exhaustion and not having an immediate love. Birth is a lot. Hormones are a lot.

Lol that last bit cracked me up 🤣 you sound like my granny when she told me she's glad I had an epidural to make up for generations of women in our family who didn't have that option 🤣 we both had sunny side up babies with back labor. She had 3 kids, I'm on #2 😅

Im so happy you said it can take a while to feel that connection with your baby. For a month I thought something was wrong with me because I didnt feel this beautiful bond everyone talks about right after delivery. I wish someone told me it was normal and I wasnt an awful mom for it... I spent over a month crying, starring at my daughter thinking I wasnt meant to be a mom.. 1 year later and we are best friends and shes my world. IT IS NORMAL. IT IS OKAY.

I am 34 weeks and have listened to a lot of birth stories. This is hands down the one I resonate with the most. Sounds like we are right on par with how we want/wanted it to go. Hoping with all my heart that I have a similar experience to you! Also ‘No Seth, this is transition’ - I’ve never laughed or gone back and watched a part of any birth story before. You have made my day 😂 👏🏼 I feel like I can do this because of you 👍🏽

It makes me so happy to see people talking shamelessly about not having that instant connection to baby. I remember being pregnant with my daughter and talking to her the whole time she was in my belly and feeling so connected. And then she came out and I was like who the hell are you 😂 of course the connection came. 2.5 years in and it's still developing more and more every day 💖

This was one of the best birthing videos I’ve seen and I’ve seen a bunch. Just love seeing mom’s giving life to a human. My 2nd child was born from start of the first contraction to his first breath in less than 4 hours. Kept saying “I can’t believe I have a baby” over and over again. Like I didn’t know before he was born. 😂 Enjoy every moment. It goes fast! ❤️

How your contractions started was exactly how my entire labor went. I didn’t feel any Braxton Hicks and I didn’t feel any contractions. I didn’t even feel anything until I was 8cm and even at that point it was only pressure. I only felt pressure the entire time. My shaking didn’t start until my baby was already out.

I had all three natural births but I'd like to help more with my pain management this time. I just wanted to say I totally relate to the weird brain fog of labor. This is the most honest and real recounting of labor and delivery I have scene. Your right not enough people talk about what it is really like. Not just the medical milestones but also the emotional and mental moments throughout. The lifting of a fog after baby is born, the falling asleep between contractions...100%. It is a full body experience like no other. The mental piece is also. Your brain is so involved with the process that thinking isn’t an easy task. What’s crazy is that after the labor and delivery, you remember it but you don’t. My kids are 7 and 3 and I still look at them and think, how did you get here? I remember them being born and can recount all the nuances of those days but it feels like an out of body experience like I was in the room and watching it happen. It’s hard to describe. It’s what experienced mama’s say “you remember it but you don’t”. It’s that fog. The intense experience almost puts the mind into a state of consciousness that you don’t experience otherwise. And the whole, “hi baby, but I don’t know you” is so true and I think people need to know that. I think so many people go into this thinking they will have an instant bond and are saddened or stressed when they don’t have that experience. It can take time to get to know them and that’s ok. News flash...kids continue to change as they grow so this “I don’t know you” thing happens throughout childhood. There will be moments of tight bonding and moments with less. Just keep loving them and doing whatever they need in the moment to grow. Great job mama!

Omg your video just mad my day 🤣😂 my husband and I have 8 grown children and oct 14th 2021 our 10th grandbaby was born. Our youngest daughter stay with us in her last month and it was me that drove her back and forth to the hospital until Leiara was born. As it is I might be pregnant, we dont have any children between us, we dated as teens then spent 31 years looking for each other. This would definitely be a miracle and as my husband said it we are pregnant, better late than never. Hes 55 and I'm 53 and both my Grandma's, Aunts and the women in his family had babies late in life without any intervention. Who knows twins runs on both sides of my family and his. 🤣😂❤❤ thank you for sharing your beautiful story and may you and your loved ones always be blessed ❤

I just gave birth to my second son on Aug. 4, 2020..and literally like 5 minutes after he was born I looked at my husband and said, “another?” He laughed and said let’s wait a bit lol But I understand the feeling of not being connected to baby right away. It happened with my first son. I knew he was mine and I was protective of him but I didn’t feel that “unconditional” love that some mamas feel right when they see their babies. It took me a few months to get to know my first son and fall in love with him.

Pretty sure I love you, our personalities are so similar 😂 your so funny the way you explain everything and it paints the perfect picture. My last birth I remember those shakes during transition, I prepped so hard with hypnobirthing and during transition I screamed “I NEED THE EPIDURAL” and my young nurse was like whatever you want and I’m like “YOUR NOT SUPPOSED TO SUPPORT THAT” lol I had a strict birth plan. My husband kept saying you’ve got this and then all of a sudden I’m like I’m pushing my body is just doing it. I never experienced a drug free birth before, my first two were epidurals in fact my first birth was an emergency c section so with my third birth I so desperately wanted all natural no drugs, I tried to pretend I was back in the 1800s. Also I was induced so I was pretty darn proud of myself and thank god my labor was 4 hours. Pregnant again and 35 weeks so I’m of course kind of dreading the natural birth again. But your story made me feel better!

This is a great video! As someone who has a month left of pregnancy and just discovered Hypnobirthing this answered a lot of my questions, I really think I want to do Hypnobirthing for my delivery

I always found the fog lifting to be soooo wild. Like, I had a complete out of body experience with my son and even then once he was born, the pain disappeared and reality SLAMMED back onto me. One second I was in a dream and the next I was cuddling my new baby. It's insane.

You are awesome! I am so glad your hospital is so good about all the things. I remember feeling the exact same way about "I cant do that again" right after my first to "ya, it was fine a few months later".

Just came from your "wrong gender" video. You seem so normal! Not like a lot of the family vloggers with everything perfect. I love how normal you come across! New subscriber here!

Wonderful hearing your story. I'm not a mom yet. Maybe a few years from now but I love hearing people's experiences. Glad to hear yours went well for the most part. Also nice to hear that you needed to build a connection with your baby. I feel like movies put it our heads that you see your baby and it is instant love. But this is a new person to you and you have to get to know them and that is ok if it isn't boom super starry eyed love at first sight. You are a warrior ❤️

As a fellow first time pregnant person, I am so glad I watched this. I don’t really know what a lot of those things you mentioned are so now I’m going to do more research. Pitosin and such. Thank you!

Omgosh! I am not pregnant or even close to your age, I am a 50 year old mom of 3 kids, but I am loving your channel, your vibe, etc, etc. ( I know weird, right?! 🤔🤣😜). Congrats on your baby girl!! Enjoy every minute they grow so fast.

So true about the feeling of constipation- before I knew I was at a 10 and ready to push, I begged for a bedpan and tried apologizing for needing to pee or poop on their bed.....nope, that was a baby coming out 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m 34 weeks and I’m doing an at home free birth with water, I didn’t know how to label the name, a water home free birth, u get it, or google it. I’m excited, it will be my first home birth in water. I’ve had 4 babies previously @ the hospital so I’ve got my fingers crossed this home birth will be super fast with no complications.

I also used some hypnobirthing techniques with my labor (exactly one year ago today) and you're totally right -- you go to a "different place." It's the coolest thing. I also totally micro-napped between some contractions! It was great!

Ugh yesss! I love this! I had a similar hospital birth (although I was lame and just laid on the bed in pain 🤦🏻‍♀️ learned my lesson for next time haha), but I became so passionate about birth and breastfeeding after it all that I became a doula and a birth photographer. Every time you said some random birth fact, I got all excited because so many people don’t know all those things! Also, you’re freakin hilarious, and I love your videos.
