I am 64 and I still can't stop listening to them after all these years. One of favorite bands I've seen for 40 years is Acoustic Alchemy. So much that asked Miles if they would mind is I named Revenue Alchemy. What band is better thatn Steely Dan forr alchemy? BTX, one of their newer releases i a Tribute to Dr. Wu.
I listened to this as a child when it first came out. It wasn't until I was in my late 20s did I learn what the phrase "35 sweet goodbyes" meant. I mean I listened to this song around my parents, not sure if they knew. Regardless, the genius of the lyrics aling with the brilliance of the music, is why you will always discover something new when listening to a Steely Dan song. I really feel sorry for the kids for whom "WAP" is the music of their formative years. Nothing subtle or creative about the lyrics of that "krap". Imagine how Dan Fagen could have written lyrics about the same topic, such that kids could sing it along with their parents, and then decades later say, "so that's what that meant."
Soooooo many great songs have worn out their welcome because they were over played. My Old School wasn't one of them. Never have I gotten tired of hearing it!

Oddly enough Both Donald & Walter went back to Bard College, several times and helped raise funds for the their Alma Mater. Good people. Very nice editing on this video. Seeing them in '73 and the 20 somethings is fun. Well done Thomas.

She was going to college he was staying home. They said goodbye 35 times before she left. In other words it was process to leave home and leave yr bf behind.
