Beautiful. I was really enjoying the part just before the walking bass, and then that came in and wow! Thanks!
@rondrotoskeyboardimprov9453
Thanks! I think this is the first time I've ever played a walking bass line on this tune.

Great idea to play the melody and the bassline without the chords. A lesson for improvisers, singers, songwriters and arrangers. Always bringing it to us. Trane/Hartman AND Cannonball/Nancy Wilson=perfect connection point for instrumentalists and vocalists with romantic musical hearts.(oh yeah:Evans/Bennett and Joe Pass/Ella). Romantic heart required. Thank you for your presentation, Maestro.(btw.,did you see the JazzVideoGuy's tribute to Ramsey Lewis featuring Billy Taylor and Ramsey jamming in a duo format to I Got Rhythm in medium tempo?) 🌹🌹🌹🌹
@rondrotoskeyboardimprov9453
Great recordings, Brenda, and thanks for the tip to watch the Ramsay Lewis video. They did an album together as well. We're nearing the end of an era regarding that generation.

Really nice version of this lovely tune, Ron. Some nice block chord soloing in one of the choruses. Don't think I've heard you do that before but sounded great!
@rondrotoskeyboardimprov9453
Thanks mudbone! I love the block chord style but you're correct in that for some reason I don't play it very often. I think I only use it when the music is really heading in that direction.

Hey there Ron, I notice you restrict yourself to a 4 and a half octave range - obviously to frame the filming nicely. Does that constrain you at all, having to consciously tell yourself to not go into the topmost squeaky notes? Love this entry into your now massive yt archive. Informative and packed with ideas.
@rondrotoskeyboardimprov9453
Good observation! That's the range I usually play in. Sometimes I'll play a walking bass line that goes lower, but not often.
