Man, I don't even want to remember those days, I used to comment why romanticizing those things are wrong and I used to be bombarded by toxic fans to watch tele tubbies. In fact, i should thank them as their attacks prompted me to make this channel. Nice brutal video. the only thing I do not understand is, why the so called fans can't take criticism, if something is wrong, it is wrong, and if we point that out instead of supporting it, things might change in future.

Amen! Thank you for the brutally honest video. We as consumers of media need to call out series when they are doing wrong and encourage creators not to do things like romanticize rape. And if series do use romanticize rape as a plot device we should boycott these series so they will get the point.
I agree with you. I guess these dramas are most fan favourite cause of actor's chemistry (Slightly) and our messed up generation (completely) who are into villains (toxic relationship) than heroes (Healthy relationship). It's kinda sad how healthy relationship dramas (Lovely Writer) are underrated and toxic ones are overrated (Tharntype). It's also sad to see dramas are celebrating 'toxicism' in the name of 'Romanticism'. Also, we Genz crave for intensity and toxic relationships have that while healthy ones are stable which we call as "boring". Thanks to our generation and society, Most of us have experienced daddy issues, toxic relationships and mental illness etc. and we are so comfortable with these experiences that we think of them as 'normal daily life issues.' So, when we watch dramas with toxicity, they seem familiar and seeing those drama couples getting happy ending (which we don't get in real life) comfort our heart as well as our issues. And when we see healthy dramas, they seem unfamiliar cause we didn't experience healthy relationships in our life, so we don't watch those dramas often as they feel extremely "boring". And industry take advantage of these situations and promote those toxicity cause after all it's a business and toxic one becomes popular. And not just BL, every entertainment industry do the same. This is such a pathetic and sad irony.
And I know what I going to say doesn’t necessarily focus on BL. But I hate how they kill off actresses to create a BL love story. It’s already bad enough in the industry, I feel the women don’t get taken seriously enough. Even if they do have the chance to make a big break, it’s a BL hiding somewhere drawing the attention from them.
For rea though the amount of lack of consent in some of these BL series is kinda crazy, and these BL series gets a lot of popularity comparing to actual good Bl series with a healthy relationship

Lovesick was my first bl and though it was not the best, it has some really beautiful moments and was kind of realistic. But after that I saw Love by chance and man, I was shocked. Except Ae and Pete, the entire stroyline of Kengkla & techno and Tar & Tum disgusted me. The more I explored the Thai BL, the more I noticed how lightly male rape is handled. Plus almost all the relationship were starting from rape😑😑 Its as if men getting raped is no biggie. At first, I thought Tharntype would shed some light on this issue but My God, I was wrong. Not only did it insulted feminine gay characters (showing them as clingy, attention seeking and horny all the time); it also romanticized Tharn's continuous molestation of Type!! Type's trauma was used as plot point rather than a serious issue, and the most annoying part was how it showed Type, who was into girls, suddenly turn gay out of nowhere! You cannot turn people gay!! I am straight and have been se**ally harassed by men, and often thought it would be better if I liked women and even tried to but guess what, it did not happen. Because sexuality does not work like that 😑😑 And even if Type was gay to begin with, then also, it is rude to force someone to confront it and come out just because of some selfish motive 😒. Even I am in shock as to why so many people like this series. I found it misleading and very disturbing actually. Effect was actually the most realistic and very raw depiction of how rape truly looks like and I am glad that that series was made!! Such series should be made and shown, so, that people can open their eyes to reality and stop romanticizing rape 😑😑
I actually don't like tharntype at all. The only reason I watched it was because I liked MewGulf. But I do have to say, that yes the author, Mame is a huge problem considering all the stories she writes are like this. But it doesn't change the fact that the script writers and director was part of this as well. Don't know how much are the cast involved in this but whatever. It's like rape or any trauma is just to add little spice and soon it's never brought up again. Even Addicted. I read the novel and I could never digest some scenes and the fact that he raped him. But, it was soo out of place in the situation. Their relationship has always been physical but Gu Hai's character would never do something like that or anything to hurt Luo Yin. And the fact that it happened is like she wrote just for the sake of it. It's like many writers and directors think rape culture and toxicness is part of a relationship or this is what creates drama and will be fun to watch. And all the series above kinda come in this category. I really like the fact that p'Aof decided to change the script in his style for Bad Buddy and not just copy it without thinking as there are some scenes in the novel that I don't like either. I think Bad Buddy is really proof (Except for Wai he's still a bitch) that you don't need toxicness to create a good story.
The effect was raw. It didn't bother to appeal to bl fans and i loved it for that. The after effects of something that traumatic was portrayed with such intensity that it was almost cruel to watch. I saw somebody rating it low cuz they didn't end up together and i smacked my head so bad.
Yeah, this generation is sad and sick. Then on top of that, I think the fandom forgets the whole “consent” movement if it’s somebody they see as attractive or if they the characters have good chemistry together.

It's not that we romanticize them, we know they are problematic. This is fictional, so we enjoy it for what it is. We don't want a perfect white picket fence show. We want drama, wtf moments, and omg I can't believe that is happening. If this was real life it would be totally different how we feel.
That's called Romanticizing. Toxic relationships exist. People are not always perfect. The problem is shows like this putting a pretty little bow on it. I understand that Fiction and reality are two different things, but not everyone is like that. And like it or not reality is at times greatly influenced by fiction. Imagine calling a rape scene hot. Fiction or not, romance on the violation of somebody is disgusting
In my opinion tharn type is the best bl series because it's about real life problems and bringing awareness to those who have been in the situation of being r*pe or molested as a child like myself who has been in a situation like that it made me feel like I was watching my child hood and I can see why he became a homophobe because he was to scared to be beside another homosexual that he didn't know his own sexuality because of that one guy that molested him so what I'm saying tharn type is basically based of lots of people who been in sad situations like that and it shouldn't be a hated series it should be a more known story
I feel sorry for you, you have to go through that traumatic childhood, but I put TharnType by my friends request who also was harassed in his childhood, he said he didn't like how Type quickly was ready to sleep with Tharn and how Tharn molested Type in lot of scenario, so that's why I put their due to Tharn molesting Type in so many occasions
When I like a series below things happen: 1. The plot completely goes illogical and flow of the story is totally messed with "Scenes" 2. Issue arises between Actors or other factors can't expect the sequel and story left hanging or abrupt stop 3. Series stops for some reasons 4. If the series is about to air and I get all excited seeing the trailer the series get cancelled I get irritated when someone dislike the series when actors get changed I don't understand their mindset
Honestly i like addicted i think because actor are handsome and have great personality or gu hai clinginess on bai yuo lin( i mean if yin have no problem about that why would i have) in my opinion china have great potential in making passionate bl but only if ban uplifted, see rape assault are shown in every genre not only bl because this is a reality it happen people often become obsessive at the hight of losing their conscious of right and wrong this is not wrong if reality shown in reel but the only thing is not right is to fantacising and encourage those obsesive character and those abusive scene and take it in a wrong way.
I actually totally agree with your statement when which a show we always looking for a perfect healthy relationship which is very unlikely in reality, and myself also like Addicted actor's because both are good looking and have a nice chemistry, I am still pissed that China did not even let the first season fully aired, and just put a useless censorship and now they also banned that, yeah my major issue when it started to romanticised
@@dramaanalyst1745 yes i hate china govt for that why would they left it unfinished if they had problem then they just have censored some upcoming scene and i also heard thet the writter told that she was very sad because she never able to complete the car accident scene which was supposed to shoot but govt banned it there are 3 more unreleased episode of chapter1 i think they plan to end the story with accident scene and then they plan to have second season which tell the 8 year after story.
I actually really agree with you on all fronts like in all honesty I only like TharnType for MewGulf and das it the same goes for don't say no as a matter of fact I could only really watch because of some of the chemistry in some of the series you named, like yeah there's a lot of nasty things in these series that make them hard to watch its hard it makes it extra hard that most fans can't take criticism to save their life and they don't wanna understand it's like they see 2 or more cute guys and logic just flys out the window like the lack of content is crazy like it needs to be talked about everything that doesn't sit well with BL in general needs to be talked about but im afraid fandoms just don't connect all the way. P.s I really only remembered Waterboy for the actors and that sexual assault scene like that had me shook when I first watched it I had already thought it wasn't all that anyway then boom then it was worse
as a fan of tharntype, i definitely agree with scenes like that being wrong, especially after what type went through at such a young age. however, i heard at that time that people were sending hate to mew (the actor that plays tharn) over those scenes, which is also very wrong, and quite frankly doesn’t make *any* sense. mew and tharn aren’t the same person. for you to hate on the actor for just acting the character he was given is the lowest of the low. same thing with kaownah (actor who plays lhong). *HATE THE CHARACTER, NOT THE ACTOR!!!*

The thing is that 90% of the fans romanticized their relationship. That's why I included them. If you like this show for other purposes rather than romanticising them. Then it's totally fine
BL relationships are usually unrealistic.i have seen so many now.But it still looks outlandish. I didn’t like tharn type.The basic premise to start a relationship is wrong there but I understand why it was popular.( steamy ).I guess there is a sane audience which finds certain things unappealing & triggering. And there is another happy go lucky audience which knows Bl dramas are outlandish so enjoy them with the disturbing scenes.I am seeing Cutiepie right now and even got past the arrange marriage thing between 2 guys in childhood ( which is not possible IRL between 2 guys) but Nat & Kuea behaving like teenage girls ,talking like that…well they are just outlandish.So disappointing.I think young women will identify with the story because it’s totally girl like story ,except that 2 guys saying those lines.
I am also not a fan of Characters acting like teen girls, specially the bottoms one, like can't we get a switch couple or a two dominating guys or two feminine guys as main leads
Honestly Cutie Pie has no story at all. It is famous just for hot scenes. Except for Zee i did not like anybody else's character or acting, especially from the four main leads. And thank goodness I never watched TharnType, watched a first few scenes and made me so uncomfortable. ┐(￣ヘ￣)┌
The side couple of History 4 ruined the whole show for me. I can't even rewatch it or I skip the brothers part. The younger rapes his stepbrother and the elder one fell in love with him? They became a couple and even the partents are ok with that??? Dark Blue and Moonlight was my first BL beside A Roundtrip to Love. Those both BL's ruined BL for me for a long time.
