If you have any questions about this let me know! (or any ways I could improve videos like these in the future) Also, request other stuff you'd like to see... Hope this helps!
Simply, just found your channel/content and really appreciate how wholesome your replies are to comments. When people comment that this tut helped more than someone else’s you just say your happy it helped them instead of letting it go to your head or saying something cocky. I’m sold. Can’t wait to keep enjoying your content.
Love this method! But, just a reminder, if you can’t do it at all, it might have to do with your controller’s notches/angles which can be messed up (like mine were). You should probably get a new controller if that’s the case, it helps a lot.
Simply! Because of your video, I've now successfully pulled off owless. Mind you, I've had mario 64 for a day since I've last played (roughly 20 years ago). Thanks for the motivation and keep going bro!
i've been trying to get all the stars you can in each level's first mission before completing the first star. this was one of the toughest (ddd was hard too) and this really helped me, thanks a bunch!!
ddd was a bit annoying only bc i also made it so i cant collect the caps so i had to clone the star for collect the caps and i thought to reds would be hard but i just needed to route every coin basically from the ship
Thanks man! I figured out myself that firsties are really bad for owless, however i couldnt find a way to pretend myself from doing a firsty by accident. So this helped me very much.
could you go in depth as to how you target what to practice with your notes and how you go about practicing? could be very helpful to a lot of new players.
maybe its because holding straight left the whole time builds up mario's leftward momentum over a longer time, so by the time you wall kick you're strafing left pretty hard
holy cow, I know this is 4 years late but I looked up other videos of owless and literally can never get it even though I've been playing Mario 64 on and off since I was a kid. Now with this technique I've gotten it twice in only like 20 tries lol
my method is to wall jump on the left most side of the wall and hold up left so i make it inside the way i hit the wall makes it so i dont hold up to much
I've put so much time into this and I just can't get it consistently. Is there possibly anything more to it such as visual cues, etc. that aren't just seen on the input display?
I do owless different than most people. I am completely neutral after I see Mario is in the air. Then I hold left at the same moment I press a for the wallkick. I can get firsties sometimes. As long as you dont have that much speed in the triple jump
It’s kinda iffy for me. I like it because I can’t blame firsties, but i like roasts setup too because it works with later frames. It’s nice to have it in the toolbox tho! ;)
Quick correction, first frame wallkicks don't give you any speed, you just keep all the speed you had going into the wallkick. On any other frame of a wallkick Mario bonks with a set amount of negative speed, so if Mario wallkicks after bonking the game set his speed to ~22 to make the wallkick work. Firsties are just wallkicks that happen before the bonk does.
