Absolutely awesome pantry! Thank you for sharing all of your hard work and creative ideas! My grandmother (born in 1893) used to say: "Use it up... wear it out... make it do... or do without." and "Waste not... want not" That has served our family well over the years and we are so blessed for her wisdom. Your channel is a breath of fresh air for me... bringing back to light what was just everyday life when I was young. Blessings on your day Kiddo!😊🌻🍁🍂🌼🐛

I'm still in the middle of your fun video, but you can make a lovely stroganoff with your cream of mushroom soup and your canned beef. Cut the meat into smaller pieces (or buzz it up a little in a blender/chopper), and put the mushroom soup and meat in a pot, adding whatever herbs and seasonings you like. Heat through and serve over cooked noodles, baked potatoes, or rice. That would be quick and yummy!

Just a tip…to thicken sauce I use my dehydrated potato powder or I have beef gelatin I use. I had two bags of cheese nacho chips which needed to be used up….so I powdered it in my blender then dried it in my oven and used it in chili, on top of Mac and cheese and stirred it into melted butter and poured over potatoes. I’m having to go thru all my boxes in the food storage and transfer them into totes, jars, and food buckets because somewhere a mouse is living and made a pile of rice…..BUT I can’t find where the rice came from since I don’t store rice just in the bags. I have traps everywhere….no mouse has shown up. This is so disheartening since I just put up a large of amount of prep and now have to go back and redo. This is in my sewing room and it’s frustrating…..I’m taking scrap pieces of material and using them for wood burner fire starters, the rest of yardage I’m putting into totes and putting them up in my art studio in my barn……lots of up and down….😟 I use to have a Mennonite prep book that used oven canning for dry goods…have you done any of this? They did homemade noodles with dehydrated eggs in some, herbs in others….

Your pantry is beautiful! I wish I had thought of canning cherry tomatoes, maybe put a cut up chicken in a 9x13 pour cherry tomatoes over, sprinkle with garlic powder and italian seasoning (the dry pizza seasoning from sharp shopper is so good)-cover and bake. I watched Survivor Lilly make "italian tomato sauce" and she canned it in a pan of water in the oven...blew my mind lol. I love learning new ways to can also. 🙂

something that has been helping me to feel.. fulfilled so to say in my “small” to me pantry is a I have a calendar page printed out. Each date with a meal/instructions on it. And then per freezer or pantry labeled with a number to match the calendar. Including sauces/seasoning packs, sticks of butter- it’s all set. I have the pantry items in a tote for this. The items are labeled for each day in its own gallon baggie. and in the freezer a box that has gallon baggies labeled for each calendar day. That way I don’t accidentally use it. Knowing we have 31 days worth of food is how I found comfort that the work paid off and IS enough 😊 I consider that fresh might not be available so I have frozen veggies divided up accordingly (things I don’t have canned, canned items are on the shelf labeled with a number to prevent breaking) in the frozen gallon bags. As well as things that don’t include eggs in case it’s not available, the meal will still be complete. Hope this helps somebody! It’s a little extra work but it’s what helped me feel secure

I do so enjoy watching your videos. You need to stop being so critical of yourself. Life is chaotic and unorganized. Planning is good, but I personally find that Life will kick your Plannings butt. Adaptability makes you more successful and your LEARNING as you go is building valuable skills that can never be taken away. Keep up the great work. Also, I have found that having my vacuum sealer is one of the best ways for extended shelf life for frozen meats and vegetables. It also allows for vacuum sealing mason jars.

I live in Europe, and my grandparents used to say that they used to preserve food by drying, smoking, salting, not canning, they ate very seasonally, because here luckily you can grow crops all year round, but even so, this tradition has long since been lost. For some time, for convenience, and now with the current situation, food preservation is once again very important, due to the high production costs and for those who do not have their own land. the good thing about the internet is that it provides global information, but we always have to adapt to our country's reality, pressure canner is rare and expensive, while water bath canner electric is more common, and available second-hand with many recipes on youtube channels in German, now i'm starting to build my pantry. Thank you for sharing.

This is just something I use with my homemade laundry detergent for odors. We've heated with wood, so clothes will sometimes have a smokey odor. Also, we have a farm, so there are DEFINITELY odors abounding some days! 😅 I simply add 1/2 cup vinegar to the wash along with the detergent. No more smells! Vinegar is also a cost effective alternative to fabric softener. Just wanted to share my little tip. LOVE your videos and your sweet spirit.

The pantry looks fantastic! I’m in the same boat….I think I have canned a ton only to find I want/need so much more to feel confident that we’re food secure. You can add a cup of white vinegar to your laundry detergent to cut smells. The acid in vinegar helps to neutralize smells, especially pet mishaps. The cherry tomatoes can be used in the same way you use your diced tomatoes. They will cook down in chili or other soups or stews.

You are an awesome woman! Great pantry and that is what it's supposed to be like if you can all year! My mother only canned in the summer and it took all summer into the fall. It takes sooo many more jars when everything goes on the shelf at the same time. Also takes a lot more shelf space. I like canning year round so I am not so tied to the house in the summer. I also shop meat sales and love to can that as well. I think canned meat is my very favorite thing to have on hand. Knowing it didn't cost much makes it even better! Thanks for the pantry tour! I enjoyed seeing what you have canned all together in one place, and how you plan to use it. I make my own laundry soap, the dry kind. But I use Fels Naptha instead of Zote. You might try that change to see if you like it better. I have read from someone who tested both that the Fels Naptha works a lot better. I have never had a problem with smells. For stains, I spray with Shout and for my husband’s extra greasy clothes I add Oxyclean to the wash. I heard you give the disclaimer about the bowing shelves. They look like they are in danger of breaking, and then you would lose most of what you have canned. That would be so sad. You could just cut a board in lengths and put them vertically in the middle of each shelf as an emergency measure, just to save your lovely food. Oh, and I love how clean your basement is! PS: Yesterday I pressure canned pumpkin pie mix, with strained pumpkin, brown sugar and spices. It’s pretty thick and I’m a little nervous about it, but I think it will be fine because sugar inhibits botulism(it’s basically pumpkin butter). I will add the eggs and milk when I make the pies. I canned it at about 13 lbs pressure for 65 minutes, which is the time recommended in a canning book from the 80s, I think.

OK, REGARDING THE CHERRY TOMATOES, just toss them in a soup/broth. I remember when my mother made a quick soup she just threw in whole/halved tomatoes into the broth pot with the celery/carrots/onions/parsley...it tinted the broth a bit and added a fnice light flavour. Just use them up that way.

The see through part in the tomato juice jars is the liquid from the seed pockets in the tomatoes. I use an electric juicer and it removes the skin and seeds and they don't have the separation. When i did the whole tomato cook down for ketchup it took 3 days and I had to run it through the hand crank juicer after the tomatoes got soft. Ive done the sauce after running through the electric juicer raw and then cooked for 36 hours until it was plain tomato sauce. Now I can use it anything to make other products. I appreciate your videos and time to get them on here, thank you.

For cherry tomatoes, do eggs in purgatory. Sauté some onions and sausage in a skillet. Add a couple pints of tomatoes. Get it hot and bubbly then crack eggs into the mix and let them cook. Think of it as pouched eggs. Scoop some of the mixture with an egg into a serving bowl and add a piece of toast on the side. It’s a wonderful breakfast. If you want a budget meal, skip the sausage

You just need to pull on the tongue to open those pretty jars. I use the 100 year old Crown jars and glass lids in Canada and those are much harder to open..... so beautiful! The rubber seals don’t have the tongue on it but available everyone in Canada!!! Love your videos!

Wow those wreck jars are really pretty! I made cowboy candy first time this year. Had my son go get a jar to add to our chili as a topper (so good). He informed me we only have 1 jar left. Lol I left out the cayenne pepper so it wouldn’t be hot and added 3 habaneros I had from my garden. Only savings was that I really chopped them tiny. Plan on making more soon.

Thank you for your videos. I canned meat for the first time yesterday and followed your valuable tips and tricks. Until now I only had a pressure cooker. Now I have a small canner and I feel a lot more confident that I will get a favourable result.

My husband and I enjoy Italian green beans and it would be a great use of the canned cherry tomatoes. We use fresh in it but I think I’ll start canning ours now and using that way. Just cook down some onions then add the tomatoes and a couple cloves of minced garlic cook until they break down and can be smashed and add fresh green beans add any spices you like salt, pepper, and any herbs, and cook until tender.

For the Weck jars, just pull gently on the little tab on the rubber thingy - that will break the seal easily.

so good!! This was awesome! You have inspired me to do a video now too. I have been in the same mental space as you with regards to "I'll wait until I have this put up" or "I'll wait until I have this organized" lol when we full well know that will never happen because our pantry's are an ever evolving thing! :)

Never use a knife to open Weck. Just pull at the rubber lid. Hold the glass and gently pull the rubber flap.. You will hear a " tssj" and the vacuum is broken. And you can take the glass lid of. And you can re use the rubber ring until its dried out and crackly.

I have been canning my sofrito for a few years and it’s the one thing that gets used and I need it 😊. I make a year worth. It’s a lot of work but it’s so worth it. I did once have an issue with the ají dulce. It was a spicy one. I found out when I touched my face after I was done cutting it up. My face was messed up but my sofrito was saved 😆 thank you for sharing the pantry tour, it definitely inspires. ❤

Thank you for sharing! I feel like so many RU-vidrs have big beautiful houses and lots of fancy equipment and that's fine, but I relate to you so much more because I also buy 1 dollar shampoo and keep an eye on sales and stock up whenever I can because my budget doesn't always allow me otherwise. I hope your doing well and I hope that people don't leave negative comments anymore because you deserve better than that.

you can still use those peppers in making salsa remember that salsa is very forgiving with any kind of pepper that you use and you can make a salsa any as much he or it's less Heat that you want I'm 👄 talking about Pica Heat the kind of hate that you would tell a baby no no Pica 🔥 hot. so remember you can still use that salsa I mean that sauce you made of peppers in some form of salsa and you can make it as hot as you want or is not I do that all the time especially in a shrimp cocktail or some fish what do you call that raw fish and you'll put lemon on it all the work left me you know what I mean golly I'm trying to remember I got it at the tip of my tongue sushi sushi there it is. if you like it.
