Your experience with your dad getting you into country sounds so much like me and my mom. She didn’t grow up a country fan. Though she did like southern rock when it was big. But she got really into Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith and some others when I was little. I remember listening to Garth tapes in her car on the way to preschool. And she likes to tell me about 2 year old me sitting in my carseat singing “Nobody Gets Off in this Town” lol.

Kenny Chesney, even though he's one of the biggest country stars of the mid 00s, feels underappreciated. I love the way his music has gone and he has SO MANY amazing songs through the last decade or two. I will never turn the station on a Kenny Chesney song (except the one with Uncle Kracker because yeesh)

I'm just realizing my mom had this same "phase" in country music during the same time. She LOVES all those late 80s early 90s artists and songs and being 33 I heard it when I was young and I got stuck there and now she doesn't like it. haha.

My first country cd was Josh Turner's Your Man album. Josh Turner was my first artist I liked. I remember just listening to country radio early 2000s was and kinda is my favorite spot in country music. But as I continue to listen further back 80s to the early 2000s is what I like to hear. Grady I can relate to you my father likes old music most of the time it's talk radio. The rest of my family listened to Pop music. My sister interduced me to the Back street boys and NSync but I have stayed listening to country music. Since 8 years old. I really liked the after midnight show that played. So at 10 years old I would stay up til almost 2am and still get up at 5am. I basically ran on that much sleep during school hours. Thanks for the great video.
