This channel! As someone who is relatively new to cycling - and someone who is not, let's say, a teenager - the content you produce is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. You're serious about becoming a better cyclist, but you're honest about fumbling your way into everything and you cover the topics, needs, irrational wants (LOL), that are so on-point for newbies. Love it. I really hope this channel is a success and that you continue with it. If it helps to hear it, know that it's really valuable for people like me.

I have a constant irritation at my left kneecap while I feel very comfortable on my bike. The problem can be saddle height, for/aft position or cleat position which might cause bad alignment of the knee in accordance with the foot but I don't have the impression that this programme can correct knee tracking? I did three bike fits. Firts one corrected my soles and the second one asked me what that was al about 😀. The second and third put me that high that I felt very uncomfortable on my bike. The third also put me very high. I changed everything again by myself to get comfortable but I this feel pain in my left knee 😢.

In the past i rode with the saddle too low (i think about 2cm) I got Knee Pain in my left knee, so i went to a professional bike fit. The new setup felt terrible for quite a while: No power, etc Now that my body got used to it, the knee is fine and i can produce more power than ever. So long story short: Just because it feels wrong at first doesn`t meen it is wrong. You could try going to the recommendation bit by bit

I have a BMC Roadmachine 61cm but am suspicious maybe it's too big for me. I too am long legged and short torso. The bike fitter moved me down to like a 90cm stem from the 120 it came with but the seat post is up a normal amount of height. I always wondered if the 58 would have been better but the stack drops down 34mm on that one. I assume you ride a 58CM frame?
@MitchBoyer
@MitchBoyer Месяц назад
My BMC is a size 56. I'm 6'1" (1.87m). Each fit is different-- II could technically fit on a 58, but I tend to prefer smaller frames because I have long legs and relatively short arms.

With knee flexion, shorter cranks would help, but A) expensive B) don't know how much shorter I had a fitting where my cranks where changed from 170mm to 155mm and based on what guy doing this told me, most of the cranks sold with the bike are incorrect in length. 170cm 80cm inseam, for reference
@MitchBoyer
@MitchBoyer 2 года назад
Funny you should mention that. I recently put shorter cranks on my bike and it did help! II only went down 2.5mm (172.5-170mm), but the difference is noticeable while I'm riding ru-vid.comDYTiRcIaMVU

So how long did it take you to get used to 3-4 hour trainer sessions? I'm usually too sore after about an hour and a half. I can do longer rides outdoors, but man sitting on the turbo I can't do more than 90 minutes. I checked my fit and it was almost bang on save for it recommending increasing reach an extra 10mm. (I'm also a heavier rider, wondering if my issue is just a weight issue?)

I actually love my indoor rides way more than outdoor. Indoors, I can get way more focused training adaptations, while also having more fun gaming on my PlayStation. Riding Outdoors is such imo a giant waste of time. If it wasn’t for the need to maintain social riding skills, I would just entirely forgo riding outdoors.

What puzzles me about the whole 'bike fit' issue is so much of it is very simple common sense. When I get in my car I adjust the seat for distance and upright angle because I'm not the same size as my wife. I have two road bikes one is a 57 frame and the other is a 54. There is nothing on either that I cannot adjust to suit me and I can ride for an hour with no pains or discomfort and only stop for a quick dring before riding for another hour. If the bike looks like it suits you, feels like it suits you and causes no real aches and pains then it's probably fine. If I go to half a dozen different £150-200 bike fitters are they all going to set my bike up the same as one another? The shop or even a simple size chart can give you a good guide for your needs and adjusting seat height, distance from bars, bar height etc are very simple adjustments that any bike shop will do at the time of purchase. My view, right or wrong, is that bike-fitting is a solution looking for a problem.
@MitchBoyer
@MitchBoyer 2 года назад
Hey if it works for you, more power to you! I never got a bike fit until I started riding longer distances. Once I started doing 5+ hours in a single ride, little things like knee pain started turning into big things. That's when optimizing my fit really started showing benefits.

I’m enjoying the bike so far ru-vid.comUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.
