i still have so much to learn, but i finally think i know what my dream is... i want to start up a small rat rescue someday, because my area does not have one. you inspire me so much to be better than i was yesterday and to keep learning. you have helped me so much since i started watching your channel. i have grown as a rat owner more in this last year watching you and researching until i cannot see anymore, than i have in the last 7 years owning rats. THANK YOU for everything you do, if it wasnt for peolle like you, rats would continue to be the misunderstood creatures they are.

Blueberries help against tumors and stuff. I feed mine blueberries and carrots every night. Carrots help against muscle degeneration.

I'm still confused a bit, Can You Possibly Do a Video Of WHAT Exactly they eat every night? And when you refill and when you feed, I have the food down, I just don't really know when am I supposed to feed them? Etc.

Just an FYI, corn is used as a protein source. That’s prob why it’s in the young rat version but not the adult version.

Not to take away from your Etsy store RatGirl44, but if anyone in the California Bay Area needs a good seed mix, Andy's Pet Shop in San Jose CA has their own mix that they do which is almost identical to yours and I believe it's $5 per pound. It's in a big glass jar and they provide you with plastic bags so you can take what you need then pay for it at the counter. They also have the lab blocks which are $1.75 per pound as well as a mix of whole nuts that are $5 per pound as well. My rats love chewing on the nuts and I don't even mind the noise. I know I said it was a Pet Shop but all the animals they adopt out are 100% rescues. The shop is amazing and the staff is super knowledgeable about everything and all the animals in there. They are also super nice and friendly. I've been going there for years and after 3 visits to the shop I'm a regular there as well as good friends with the entire staff. They also have a really affordable and amazing boarding service. My rats hate it when I leave but they love staying there. They get to "help" in the store by running around on the counters and walking over the keyboard at the register. They also are animal ambassadors and people are more than welcomed to pet and hold them with supervision. Andy's also has really good prices on bedding and food as well as hammocks and cage accessories.

My rats get parrot mix.not,all the time.but it makes a good break from lab block.its all seeds and wheat.

hello. so lately i know theres been a huge debate with oxbow and i now know the hamster version at least isnt good to give. i also heard the rat food isnt good because it has some ingredients they shouldnt have? i heard mazuri or whatever is the new leading brand.

Are all the ingredients in here safe for male rats? And should I get male or female rats? I want rats that are: Cuddly, Easily able to care for, and Adventurous ( There are lots of Adventurous and active rats in my local pet store, we have no adoption places or breeders ). What gender to you recommend?

I feed my rats on "Pets At Home" complete nuggets/lab blocks which they love but do you think I should switch to Burgess or go online to order them Oxbow? I live in UK, so they do not sell Oxbow in any shops over here at all. Oxbow is unheard of & has to be shipped from USA, same with brands like Native Earth. Burgess is a well known brand. My vet did say my rats have "an exemplerary diet" but is Oxbow or Burgess better than Pets At Home?

Ok good! I worried that my rats were needing a young rat formula. Im in Canada, so anything good quality is expensive and hard to get a hold of. I do a good fresh food menu for mine, which include extra protien as per your other how to videos. Thanks again for posting, you have been a great help to a new ratty mom!

I have always had a problem with oxbow and my rats. I have tried everything to make them eat it, but I guess I am one of the unlucky ones with picky rats. I have been mixing oxbow half with the new Halo's dog food, the vegan formula. They seem to LOVE that, and mixing it, I notice they will at times eat some of the oxbow. I couldn't seem to figure if the Halo was ok or not, but I have read about other dogs foods being used (and yes the plus and minus of both) but nothing about the new food I am using. I also have a cereal/seed mix I give as a treat, but I really need to get better at offering more fresh veggies everyday. I feel they would be so much better with it. Also once or twice a week I give them a little green mush powder with some yogurt, but I wonder, is the green mush enough to make up for the lack of fresh veggies I can't give them?

Do you feed wheat berries? My rats love them, just can't find anyone else that does. They are non gmo organic kosher none irradiated and field traced. It's definitely has to be good for them, just don't know how much to incorporate it into their diet. Raw feeding dogs and rats is so much easier since they are designed essentially to eat raw whole prey, but rats diet seems to complex for me to even attempt.

Hey. I checked out your seed mix etsy shop and I was wondering how long one of those bags would last if I have 2 rats.

I've been using this brand for a while. I've noticed two different packages available and the texture / look of the triange kibble is smaller. Have you seen this?

It's alfaalfa hay that's not recommended.. and with corn there is a risk, it's not that big really.. Interesting videos anyways :)

I use the same oxbow food for my two 6 month old female rats (I am a first time rat owner). I have been considering buying in balk to save a little money as you explained. Do you think that if I kept it in the freezer as you do, it would not go bad before I used it all? seeing as I only have my two girls..? ps thanks for all the great info in your videos!

Is the KAYTEE® Forti-Diet Pro Health Mouse & Rat Food okay to feed in emergency situations? I know it can have horrible long term effects but will it be okay for a week or 2? Its all my pet store has until I can get my oxbow food shipped from amazon.

Paypal does something that is a flat rate shipping for only $5 or so. And can put as much in a specific bag. Not 100% sure on the details but check it out, may work for this!
