Been here in Iloilo for the past 6 months, I easily do it on $1200 monthly. I have a nice 1 bed condo, eat local, shop locally and at S&R, and do a bit of travel every other month

I’ve been thinking about retiring in Iloilo but I’m not sure about the weather. It might be too hot and I would have a higher electric bill from running AC all the time. I’m still going to live in Iloilo for awhile just to see how it goes. I also want to check out Lipa city, it’s at a higher elevation and it’s cooler. It’s on the other side of lake Taal from Tagaytay. Lipa is also much closer to Manila and it’s good to be closer to Manila if you’re older because of medical and other reasons. What do you think? So far I’ve only been to Manila, Bulacan, and a couple other places.

@@Amen.22lipa is marginally cooler than Manila. Probably four degrees Fahrenheit difference. Still hot but it’s fine except 1-4pm when you will want to be in the shade. I live in Silang which is close to Lipa. I love AC but find it is fine to just AC during those times and bedroom when sleeping.
@stant1658
@stant1658 11 месяцев назад
We are snow birds from Canada, and are now living in Iloilo city 6 months in each year. We pay 7000 electric bill each month. Sometimes we turn down the AC whenthe temperature outside go down. We go to the open market for fresh fruits, fish, and veges.. we pay 35k for property taxes, car and house insurances… we uses iPhones and tablets, and use globe foe wifi and texting and calling….since we are both a retiree, we found that the most expensive thing we pay is medical travel insurance. This year, we will just get it for hubby. I have phil health, and can get 20% off my meds and hospitalization on top of that…

This is the exact video I needed. All the other ones I've seen people do were too vague in most cases. Plus I support Black content creators. I'm also trying to find a good one that relates to me in regards to living in Thailand as a young Black man. I'll be in TH to hang out, and most likely PH to live. 36 year old who just retired from the Army, a great ever-growing retirement portfolio and a very nice monthly income for the rest of my life. It's time for me to live life, live to work when I want; instead of working to live.

Hey brother, if you live in the province it’s even cheaper. Rent can be as low as 15,000 pesos (or $266 Dollars) per month, daily massages (1.5 hrs) for about 400 pesos ($7 Dollars). I’d say if you marry a Filipina it could be expensive if she is also helping her family too… Moreover, with 2k USD per month you’ll be good. I’m currently in PI btw.

In my opinion I prefer more Surigao or Bohol. I hope we could hang out any time, great content 🙏🏻

It's best to buy land and build your own custom build house here in Manila area. You will have control of how things are done and save on some $$ with materials of your choice. Also, you will have more $$ per month for your trips since you won't have to worry about mortgage payments. It's what I did, so now my budget is only mainly for food, health, house and car insurance, gas for car, utilities and inter islands trips 2X per year.

Hi @the black filipino tv, you need to put a range for the water bill. You are lucky that your condo is classified as residential, thus its cheaper. If your condo is classified as commercial, like ours, it can be easy Php3,000 to 4,000 or somewhere like $50 to $60 dollars.; if you add assoc dues, it may well be an additional $50. So a total of $100 per month additional expense.

Expat here 16 years on SSRV, I'm in Metro Manila at a cost of $1275 mo. High rise condo with free gym and pool, parking, paid for car and scooter, I furnished my unit. Its easy peasy life here. Expats can get rich slowly here as its easy to save monthly. Oh and NFL Gamepass.

Even though I live in the USA near Denver, because of my location and lack of options, I'm lucky to get 25mbps on a good day. So to complain about 60+? That would be fantastic.

Hey Jay, I'm looking to get out of the Bronx in about 2 more years, so 1600 dollars monthly will be my budget. Would you say that is a good budget, without really sacrificing?? I'm looking at Cebu or Dumagate.

You can still lower your budget even your in Metro Manila. You can find a condo start to Php 8k above. And your electric bill of 6k that's huge bill. Anyway, enjoy staying in Philippines.

I'm living on a small farm in North Eastern Thailand. Eat for about $3.00 dollars a day. Built a house on about 10 acres of land. No Rent. No property taxes. $13 dollars a month on phone and internet. $5.00 a week on gas for motorcycle. Only downside is language, extreme isolation, and limited choices of foods. Mostly Rice and Noodles.
@lex4422

You can also live on $3 a day in the Philippines l. Thats 50 pesos a meal. But that would be extreme penny pinching.

@@JourneyinThailand Thai cuisine really takes a lot of some tastebud aclimatizion😄. The contrast with the Phils is, yiu can just walk on a grocery store or malls ( which they have tons of) and get an american product or delicacy.

Upper limit to classify you as middle class is 110k php a month or 1942 USD. Oh and that is a FAMILY income. 2022 average annual income per person was 550k php or 9500 usd. Median annual income was 660k php or 17000. All numbers are rather generously rounded up. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics median income per person in US is $4164 (exact) or 236k php (rounded up). $1600 a month will afford you a good, enjoyable and worry free life in the NCR with enough money that if you chose not to island hop every month and you managed to cook at least half of your meals, you could still be a great 'lil saver and put that excess into a small business which only goal would be to pay utility fees and keep you from developing a fatty liver. If you are a retiree with no insurances and some health issues, $1600 a month would still keep you in the same hospital wing as the average movie celebrities in Philippines.
