One of the few honest collectors on youtube so many youtubers act like they paid for their collections when they get them free from sponsors i stop following alot them now this is a incredible collection built over time with hard earned money

I feel the same as you about my collection. The difference is I am mainly into classic Hollywood, I have collected most Academy award winning best movies. I have about 1000+ movies, documentaries,"old cartoons"(Betty Boop era) and anything about 1930's to present history. Nothing better than an old movie on a cold dreary day.

My collection started when I got the first three lethal weapons on dvd from my parents after I bought my first dvd player from there I was hooked. I’d always be at the video store renting and buying there movies when they would sell them.

I have that same Toy Story VHS and it was one of my favorites. Same goes for the Star Wars Box set. I am not much of a collector but I love movies and ot looks like we had a very similar start.

I am the same way with reading I lose interest pretty quick. I love movies not just the stories but the art and all the things that go into them from directing to sets and costumes is amazing to see so many people working together to create something amazing

As one of the friends he got an apartment with, (and who's helped him move the collection through several of those moves, lol) it's been really cool to see his philosophy of collecting develop over the years!

Wow, Buybacks brings me back. Used to work at Movie Exchange in Texas, which was a subsidiary of Buybacks for awhile before being sold to CD Exchange from San Antonio. They also shut down. Got some great memories and learned a lot about movies while I was there.

Seems like a lot of collectors today are worried about numbers instead of quality. Everybody runs out of space. You should buy what you love, not just a fill space.

I am onfused in that I thought the human eye can not register 8 or 10 k quality unless maybe you have a theatre room with one humugous screen. Even 4 K I assumed you had to have a large enough television and space between the viewer and the screen. I am too lazy to watch your whole post. Sorry. Could anyone answer these questions... 1. Are 4k worth it when your tv is about two to three metres from the viewer? 2. Are 8k worth it at all - or is it simply marketing covering the truth that the human eye will never determine the distance? 3. Is it worth buying films you once had on dvd, then repurchased as blu-ray on 4 k. Where does one stop? It is expensive? 4. How does one know the extent to which they are gaining additional pleasure from watching upgraded film? Thanks everyone.

So I have a question and this is something that I have been struggling with the last couple of years I don't remember the last movie I bought on DVD or Blu Ray and I don't even have a 4k tv or 4k player but I guess what happened is I just got tired of buying movies and then I eventually just stopped buying them and I was wondering have you experienced this feeling yet of being tired of buying movies and also how do I start back wanting to buy movies like I used to?

So there were a few times where I went an extended period of time where I didnt buy movies. During those times I was focused on a different goal like buying camera equipment or a new computer or our house. I think its just comes down to your priorities at the time. And I would start by asking yourself what are your goals when it comes to collecting, do you want to have a full movie room or do you just want to have a small shelf of your favorites ? If you do want to really get into collecting but you dont know where to start I would recommend starting with a small collection. Like collect all your favorite directors films or all the films on a series or stuff like that. I would say only buy things that make you excited, dont feel like you have to buy all the latest releases. I hope this helps!
