A lot of people ask me this so I figured I'd make a video showing it If you have any video requests, feel free to comment them below :D Social Media Links: / asmongold Ask.fm/Asmongold / asmongold / asmongold
Okay I did a little math to figure out some stuff soo here we go. Starting from July 2006. First 5 x 30 = 150Days 10 x 365 = 3650 3650 +150 = 3800 Days you could have potentially played wow since you have started. So the number is 1176 so that means 1176 / 3800 x 100 = 30.9473684211% of your life has gone towards WoW since playing in July of 2006. Asmongold is indeed dedicated. Please like so Asmongold sees!
a bit of inaccurate math there i'd say. Its july now and you counted from july of 2006. So that would be about a bit more than 11 years to be more exact. since its august almost. so 11 x 365 + 15 (if we presume that he started mid of july) = 4030 days that he potentially could have played wow. so that would be 1176 / 4030 x 100 = 29,18114143920596% but thats just me being picky.
We can go even further. According to Sleep Foundation, average sleep duration in the US for adult people (26-64 years old) is 7-9 hours per day. So on average we have 29.16 - 33.3% of active time during the day, which means that out of 3800 calendar days Asmongold was active 2549-2692 days. And that leads us to even greater revelation: since July 2006 Asmongold dedicated 43.68%-46.13% of his active life time.
All I can think to myself when people poke fun of him dedicating so much time to wow is he's taken a hobby and turned it into a job. Yeah it's a lot of time spent but he has turned it into a way to make money, that is the fucking dream. I would drop my current job in an instant to do the same. Good for you bud.
he probably earns more from playing wow than most of the dingbats slating him. Only people who are highly jealous would even care, and folks on a good wage dont worry about someone else earning money their own way. Not like he is selling crack to kids.
@chiang sean Not sure how old you are or if you're simply an adult with an underdeveloped brain but that's not what people are saying. One, most people have jobs they dislike. That's reality. Two, most of the points made were to describe someone's judgemental attitude towards someone's hobby/job/lifestyle. I don't like going out drinking at the bar, but some people spend more time at the bar than anywhere else. Some people like to collect their fingernails in a jar, or spend every dying moment with their spouse and do everything together. Some people love their job and do nothing but work, or sometimes just love money so they work at a job that pays very well but it's not their dream job. I could go on forever with examples. But every person has choices customized to their own ways of living, and if you sound jealous or upset about that get the fuck over it.
@Wildcard sorry if my random comment triggered the shit out of you. i have couple points regarding this as well. it doesn't concern me what other people do with their lives, but having a real job that you like is definitely a superior choice in most circumstances. Your second point, well, you certainly have a less developed brain than i do because my feeling on Asmongold's lifestyle is more of sympathy or pity rather than “Jealous". how long do you think this game is going to last? is it worth to devote all of your youth and energy into it? what if one day wow collapses and all your effort and time have gone to the dust and what have you achieved but silly memories and screen shots? having a lifestyle that sleeps when the sun rises and wake up at night could cause many many health issues thus have a very short life expectancy along with painful illness. btw do you know what's the major difference between a developed brain and a inferior brain? one thinks and plans for the future, and one only thinks of enjoyment of the moment like an animal. If i were Asmongold, i will try selling out or be a variety streamer before the fame fades and start to save up money for different investments perhaps later on when wow dies, i will have some reliable income to sustain myself so that i won't have to die miserably in early stage of life? lol, no judgement, but his lifestyle certainly shouldn't be advocated or appreciated period.
I normally wouldn't have posted such a long comment because English isn't my first language but, anyway, if there were any grammatical or spelling mistakes please put up with me.
He's had many great victories and some terrible losses over half a decade. Now he's got the thousand yard stare, a necklace made from ears, and a few other trophies he doesn't care to mention. Same shirt though. True and real.
I guess he'll have more screens then me, I've 2.680 actually, sorted it some months ago and deleted like 3.000. So basically this video would be like 5 hrs long lol!
I absolutely love this game. It’s like living in a different world while playing. I played a shit ton in LK and Cata, but seriously, that’s just ridiculous how long you have been playing.
Fun fact: We starting playing the game around the same time, just as Vanilla came to an end and TBC was about to be revealed. Not counting vanilla as a x-pack, and since you played it so short (compared to the rest), it means you played atleast 150 days on that warrior every expansion. Considering your already at 105 days now, i recon that sounds about right aswell, not a bad avarge id say considering most people take quite long brakes from WoW if they do at all.
Blizzard did add a toy that is basically Dartol's Rod but the cool down is much longer. The original Dartol's Rod is best because you can keep using it and stay a furbolg. The buffs from both rods goes away if you take damage but If you use a jewelcrafting item that swaps appereances with a party member (Reflecting Prism?) then cancel the appearance swap buff then use the item again on the same person, you (and the other person if they want to) will stay a furbolg even if you take damage. Using Mirror Image as a furbolg mage was one of my favorite things in WoW. I could almost be convinced to start playing again if someone was making a guild for furbolgs.
Hi! I am a old school player and collector like you. I am collecting every rare / expensive / unobtainable items. I am almost have all of this stuffs, ofc i am amazed cuz of your T3 token, scarab q item etc! As far as i know you don't care about TCG stuffs so i don't ask you about them, but i would like to ask you about Haunted memento, Sun-Lute of the Phoenix King or Arcanite Ripper? Have you got them? they're ultra rare (especially the guitars). Keep your gaming on! Greeting from Hungary, Europe. (sorryformybrokenhunglish:)
My old main had 417 days of play time alone, and that was back in early Cataclysm. I quit playing that character starting in Cata, and then I quit the game, but I still remember the good old days.
Youre not that wrong, the Kaluak rep fishing pole used to be one of the most common weapons for feral druids back in early WotLK since stats on a real weapon barely made a difference compared to the massive damage increase the epic quality weapon dps on the pole did, its actually the reason why the DPS on it was lowered, since druids could get a weapon good enough for raiding from daily rep quests that opened up at level 73-ish, everyone else was out of luck since poles dont count as weapons for spell purposes.
I'm surprised more people don't carry the Kalu'ak fishing pole in their bags. Because you can breath under water with it, it's very handy on classes/races that don't have underwater breathing. I've used it to allow me to stay under water longer on underwater quests. And I've even used it to get out of a few sticky PVP situations. I remember when I was leveling in Cata, I used it in Vashj'ir before I obtained underwater breathing. And in the beginning of MOP there was an underwater daily. Having the pole on me sped up that quest. I've also used it to go AFK in PVP zones. People generally don't know you're there if you're underwater.
@Anders Kristensen Haha, won't last? Firstly; Asmongold is for sure no Dummy which is the most important thing today and Secondly; Name a streamer that consistently hits 30 000+ viewers even when *not* playing their main game that is now gone.
@@AKhellbindeR He Probably makes enough money he can put mass amounts away (if he is smart) so that when twitch dies or his channel he will have more than enough money to live comfortably and probably not have to work another day of his life
A friend of mine had 400 days /played in 2006. He played ever since release but its still kind scary to think that he played 400 days when the game hasnt even been out for 2 years at that point. Some may know him as the Buddhist.
A couple cool things I have that i'm sure you had are: the boomerang from the linken quest chain in ungro'crater, I never finished my MC atunement before they took out the requirement for it so I have that crest thingy with a couple of the stones in it (strangely its not bound, so I can actually trade it for some reason), and I have the Blood elf paladin sword and polearm that were removed in cata (I still had the items since I thought they looked cool, so i was ecstatic when the xmog system came out and I could use those rare appearances). Thanks for the great video, I also had that bell and I used it for awhile, at least until the spawned mobs stopped being helpful (since I remember trinkets being rare when leveling back then).
I just did /played on my first ever toon. 17 hours, 33 minutes, 51 seconds. I logged in and he's still in the starting zone xDDDD i havent even uncovered the map outside the starting zone lol. Just goes to show how hard it was back then. I didnt like hunter so i switched but i leave him there to have some does of nostalgia. 17 hours in the starting zone.. YES I SUCKED! I alsow read every quest and followed the lore. It was beautiful. Now i cant even dream of lvling a new toon. It's boring literally because of how easy it is... blaaaaaaaaaah. Classic here i come!!!
Impressive, I had played 368 days on my Dwarf Hunter before TBC came out alone, I had a level 40 mage, and two 19 twinks :D I got caught between raiding to get good gear - then pvping with it because you had such an advantage on your opponents! I've been between various accounts, alts characters... I have in total logged 1432 days played. I miss vanilla, but love the new game
Honestly I expected a higher number considering how little he plays alts and how old the character is and his very small amounts of quitting especially now that his channel and livelihood revolves around him playing World of Warcraft. I'm at around 400ish days played on my Warlock (my main since I started until Legion launch) and about 100ish on my druid (my main during legion) and I quit the game a LOT, like I rarely play for 2 tiers in a row, and I only started in Wrath myself. I also get in trouble all the time for not playing enough with my guild. Another thing to remember is that an MMO's play time =/= time played in most other games like CS:GO or League where almost all the time played in those games is going to be actually playing, most of the time in WoW is gonna be afk/chatting/flying circles in dalaran. For simplicity's sake we'll round up to 900 and it is only 21,600 hours while that is certainly a lot of time there are plenty of people with 4-6k hours on games as new as Ark which again is almost certainly going to be mostly actual playing time, whereas WoW is mostly AFK time I would be willing to bet that less than half of asmongold's /played is he even moving the character, wouldn't be surprised it is as low as 1/5th of that time. WoW also has a very long afk logout timer compared to many MMOs like RS. Also to him saying 'if this means anything it probably means legion isn't very shitty right?' I mean he literally makes his money off WoW I think it is impossible for Blizzard to make the game so bad that someone who makes money off of it in the capacity he does would not play it. Not to mention how critical (and rightfully so in my opinion) he has been of the expansion, sounds very odd for him to say that, I know almost no one that would say Legion is a wonderful xpac, most I know would be hard pressed to say it is average and these are players that play almost all day too so they have actually eclipsed the RNG BS already and still aren't that happy with the xpac's massive amount of RNG.
I think the reason the vanilla trinkets didnt work is because it is a training dummy, they didnt have those in vanilla if i recall so maybe they were never set up to attack a training dummy or the other theory i have is they wont attack unless you are attacked. not 100% tho
You were so right to hold onto the elite gears from WoD. I deleted mine as soon as the wardrobe was announced. I couldn't have been more wrong. The 2 pieces (shoulder+helmet, I left them in my void storage) that I kept are in my wardrobe, the rest didn't add and even after a series of tickets they said it's not in their logs (even though I provided in-game screenshots) and can't add it to my account. :( Wish I was as that thoughtful back then...
xzess2k5 Exactly, if people could have a /played for their jobs irl they would probably have double the numbers. and sitting at a desk or whatever is no better than playing wow if youre making money, at least wow is fun.
You were in my guild back on Thrall doing raiding in Karazahan. Think you quit to go to overdose or Illusion or something. Good times man. Crazy to see how much time we've put into the game. I went and checked my I have aroud 400 days myself across the account.
@Asmongold More perspective on that number. 1176 days played = 28224 hours played = 705.6 work weeks played (40hrs) = 14.7 years played as if it was a full time job (48 work weeks in year)
@Luke do YOU even math? the OP said "30% of your time to wow is crazy"... asmongold is what? 24 or something. a little over 3 years on this game in played time is around 10%
Dope vid! The bank was pretty cool too. I just recently started playing my vanilla hunter and there were a lot of items that got changed or are now unobtainable too!
44% of his life is WoW his hours played are 1,176*24 28,224 played hours 11 years is 11*24*365 96,360 hours 96,360*(1/3) to account for 8 hrs sleep per 24 hrs 64,240 waking hours 28,224/64,240 ~0.44
Nice, I'm so glad I kept my Verigan's Fist mace for my Alliance Pally and my Blood Tempered Ranseur for my Blood Elf Pally. Cause I can mog them now especially the Ranseur
I've got bonus mounts too...I've always said WOW was cheap entertainment, and it's fun. Of course there are exceptions like ebay, amazon or the blizz store for anything other than the security key chain. You can spend a lot of crazy rl money on it.. but it's not necessary. I've got a few obscure items and things you can no longer get hanging out in my account too. it's real easy to let a few hours go by like nothing. I've been gaming since PONG came out and I'll always be a gamer!!
#When youve get better Transmogs and titles than Azmongol --- Deaths Demise, Grand Crusader, also Tabard of the Protector (the one he showcased) and Amani war bear, all the gold CM gear/weps at 388 days /played O_o
Yes, some are still going hardcore (mythic race), some are on-and-off casual player (like me) and anything in btw, Surprise, people have different tastes...
ahh what a trip back in time, I have alot of these items you have too, not all by no means, I still have the original Skull Flame Shield thats still BOE, lv cap 60 shit, alot of hunter pets that are no longer in game, gear, all that good stuff, Hell I even have empty poison vials for my rogue when you actually had to apply poisons to your weapons, all my original field marshal gear, damn I need to play again hahah, awesome vid, subbed
Great video Asmongold, loved looking at that old stuff! Maybe a follow up video that shows all the cool stats in the Statistic's tab of the Ach window? Death by fire, how many runs of X, total gold acquired, etc.. Almost 900 days I would assume u fell to ur death or drowned a few times too many, haha.
all that nostalgia in 1 video =D the oldest item i kept was my benediction, i was the first priest in my guild to farm the eye of shadow but last on loot priority to get the eye of divinity
I'm sorry to say this but I actually expected more :P Honestly speaking and not making this up I saw a friends account back in the WotLK days that had almost your total playtime on all characters on one character.. TBH he was a WoW nolifer (meaning he always played and never left the house except for school) (thats when I used to be in school) but still I'm talking around 1000 days back in WotLK thats 4 expacs ago.. Unfortunately I'm not friends with this guy anymore but I would love to see how much /played he has now if hes still playing.. Anyways still a big amount of time tho! Mine is around 350 days across all chars ever since I started back in vanilla so I'm definately a filthy casual xD
You glossed over the dark edge of insanity, pretty much BiS PvP 2h in vanilla even the mace from kel'thuzad wasn't as good IMO. Simply because the proc was overpowered and didn't break on damage you could literally chage > get proc > kill. Most classes couldn't even break the disorient with a trinket or had class abilities to get out of it.
My Warrior was made a week after release in Nov 2004 so it has a lot of playtime too. The thing is...about a third (if not half) was wasted on AFKing or being alt tabbed so it's not really accurate.
Blizz actually did release servers I think until WOTLK that did not have AQ gates opened. Some people paid for character transfers to open the gates and get their mount, doubt they will release servers like that again. Neat to keep ahold of though.
Have you got the title of "Undying"? I think that's what it's called...you could get this from WOTLK Nax raid...basically, you could get it if no one actually died in Naxx or something like this....This was also removed at some point.
if u take his total days played and divide it by 3650 ( approx 10 years) then multiply by 24 (hours in a day) then you get that hes played wow every day for 7.7 hours for 10 years.
You've spent more time on your main in legion than I have on my main in all of my time playing, and I've been playing since wrath!! Although I've been very inactive at times.
