I play a Magic the Gathering Online Legacy league with Grixis One Ring Control, a deck from Patreon subscriber Ethan. This is a classic take on Grixis control: Discard, removal, counters, and two-for-ones. The obvious new inclusion is Lord of the Rings Orcish Bowmasters in any deck that can get meaningful value off of it. The One Ring is replacing all the old planeswalkers and draw engines of the format. Topping it all off, Sheoldred the Apocalypse is a crazy synergy with The One Ring setting up a crushing endgame with 2 cards you want to play anyway. MY PRECIOUS! MTG LotR

You missed lethal at 23:50 where, after blocks, you could have played both bowmasters to ping them for two and grow your orc army for exactly lethal. It didn’t end up mattering, but you did give them an extra turn to find an out.

Love the content. At around 15-16 minutes (i don't know how to link, I'm old) you say time for the "coup d'état", i think you meant coup de grâce (final blow). Coup d'état is overthrowing of the government. Im assuming you already knew all of this, but that made me laugh!

I've been doing the one ring sheoldred thing in black stompy at my LGS. people have been planning for it a bit more but if they both stick it might as well be game over Fatal Push has honestly become the answer of choice now a days, kills Bowmaster all the time and kills Sheoldred after a fetch, which is like... everything my deck does

23:51 missed lethal. Not that it really mattered. Playing both bowmasters before damage pumps the unblocked army by 2, and the pings are 2 more. They were at 4 after combat without doing that

42:37 Cool line here. Cast bowmaster in combat, ping token for 1, and block it with 1/1 orc. Token dies, but they still trample over and get monarch. In end step, they draw and you get 2 pings, which is enough to kill delighted halfling. You end up with 1 less power on your orc token, but its definitely worth it for not having to bolt the halfling and getting to play moon instead

I won a game on Arena against this sheoldred one ring combo today by playing and unearthing a total of 6 Bowmasters. Ring was ut to 8 counters and I got a 16/16 for a ring activation with 2 Bowmasters in play that removerd the lifegain of sheoldred. All 3 are so messed up cards and I love them all. Playing all of them in my UB/Grixis controldecks. Snapcaster, unearth, push, cling to dust, bowmaster, one ring,consider... Makes it really feel like the legacy of Arena. I used to play legacy in paper but it got to expensive and I did not have the dual lands but this getes the memories going. Most good legacy Grixis cards are already on arena plus it's slower so you can play the more like 2018 Grixis with snapcaster kolagans command... Just missing Baleful strix and force. But you get to play archmages charm and Make disappear instead cause it's slower.

Do you think the "One ring" is healthy for the legacy format? Or are we just seeing it alot on your channel because its new, and people are just experimenting with it. It's just a little concerning since its everywhere right now

So I had a thought for a donation league post EI ban and that was Skeletal Scrying + Sheoldred in Grixis Control. Unfortunately Scrying was bugged. But good news, they fixed it! Just in time for the release of LotR.

Loved Grixis control decks since I first laid eyes on Cruel Ultimatum as a kid. Why isn't this a Yorion deck? The snake seems great with Bowmasters and Strix. It's situationally good with the ring for resetting it. Same for Hidetsugu A lot of your cards aren't 4-ofs anyways so you aren't hugely impacting the draw chance for cards not name Sheoldred and Force-of-Will (admittedly both hugely impactful cards). Seems like at least a side-grade.

Is Doomsday round up? If so you could have won game 1 against doomsday by playing bowmaster after doomsday resolved. Pinging your opponent from 19 to 18 results in the same life total when doomsday resolves. Asuming your opponent builds the same pile, bowmaster kills them.

@@BoshNRoll Thx for the reply. I personally don´t like it because kinda keep you off the staples blue draw spells like ponder and bs. If people are not playing this spells, they are probably not playing blue and that means fewer forces of will. Legacy without FOW it's unhealthy.

God, doomsday just sucks all the fun out of the room. Playing against that toxic garbage or even just watching matches against it is like nails on a chalkboard. Nuke that garbage into orbit before anything else gets banned. Cannot fathom how Thassa’s Oracle is still legal In any format.
