lol, SAS is so clueless. The next time a coach can tell Jerry what player to sign will be the first time. Jerry spent months telling everyone that “they were all in” and had everything that they needed. Turns out Jerry isn’t as good at building a team as he is being rich
Facts... nobody and I mean nobody tells Jerry what to do or how to do it with the Cowboys. You heard those threats he made to the radio guys...imagine his language behind closed doors. SAS is acting slow smh
Even ignoring the loss of Kellerman, a commentator I’ve always enjoyed, this show has become an embarrassing SAS circle jerk. You get paid a massive amount of money, you have a guaranteed contract, you have power at ESPN that’s rivaled only by McAfee who has his own machine that ESPN simply licensed. You don’t need to remind us constantly that you’re in charge….just do a good show. About the only thing left I actually appreciate about SAS is his Cowboys trolling….hes gonna fuck that up as well. Ratings, Money, and Relevance are three different things. They’re related yes, but still distinct. SAS obviously drives ratings, makes tons of money, and will continue to make even more, but his broad relevance is slipping. He’s incapable of adjusting into his role at the top of the mountain….being aggressive and self centered makes sense while ascending and fighting for your spot. Maintaining that same vibe despite endless winning eventually codes as insufferable parody. There’s nothing wrong with wanting a new partner or a new style of show….go about it calmly and openly. Worst case he would’ve had to do another 6 months/1 year of Kellerman shows….then you both move on without needless drama. Instead the guy with all the power came across as the most insecure while the other guy keeps his mouth shut, collects his remaining checks, and will eventually re emerge. It would be fucking beautiful if ESPN let him walk and reconstructed this show with Kellerman/Shannon or whoever.
I have noticed a lot of the same things you have mentioned but have not had the words. I am also thinking about what he has done to help people out. Sometimes I think he is spot on, engaging, entertaining, and encouraging. And other times I think he is acting, contradictory (and not able to have that pointed out to him), or being a broken record. In general, when ego gets involved with sports discussion the conversation just breaks down. I think this is probably why we don't argue over or dislike the podcast Lebron and JJ did. I wish they would admit they see things another way but also legitimately hear the other person out. Debate shows are a thing, but that feels more like podcast energy to me? I expect information, light banter, maybe some personality and maybe some hot take predictions. I don't know it's pretty complicated what's going on I guess.
There is no way McCarthy signed off getting Zeke and going into the season with Dowdle. No way. Stephen A continues to place the blame elsewhere. That was all Jerry and Spawn.
Shanahan has 59 losses. 40 of those are what SAS proclaimed. Yes the stat is true. They are also the only team in the NFL that doesn't have a win like that in the same time frame. Another 5 losses came while leading by 10 or more points in the 4th. The last one came at the hands of the Cardinals this season.
What's not being said is Kyle is 72 - 54 but, BUT has been to 5 NFCC and 3 SBs in 6 seasons. Just to tell you Those losses or record don't tell you everything, Like Dan said: Context. There are perhaps coaches with better records but have never been to the SB. Still, Kyle needs to figure out how to play from behind, it is an established San Francisco standard that has yet to be addressed.
your "feels" are way off point. there are plenty of other female sports commentators out there. are you saying they all don't understand football? only mina?
Mina is a terrific NFL analyst. One of the best male or female. Mina is humble and gracious. Would not surpise me if she listed multiple women who are outstanding NFL analysts.
Classic SAS and why I can't stand him "I'm looking at a guy in Kyle Shanahan that doesn't seem to know what he's doing when he doesn't have his running back. I'm not accusing him of not knowing what he's doing because I understand how the brilliant the man has been". You LITERALLY accused him the sentence before of him not knowing what he's doing. He does this all the time, he insults and then follows it up with reassurance of praise.
10:46- 10:49 being 0-40 when ur trailing by 8 or more is crazy. But with that L last Sunday, Shanahan is 0-41 as of rn. Someone needs to wake this team up
How long are we gonna criticized Mike McCarthy and not Jerry Jones people did the same to Jason Garrett .. my question is the next Cowboys head coach are we gonna criticize him too.
When a team is trailing late in the 4th and on offense what stat is always displayed? The QB's record in close games and how many 4th quarter comebacks they have. That stat is more a reflection of the qb talent they've had under him as coach than shanahans ability as a coach to call the right plays and put the team in a position to win
SAS keeps saying Kellen Moore is a genius. Moore is an idiot. He'll continue to have the cowboys pass the ball when they're up 20 and give the other team a chance to get back in the game..
Stephen A should not have these people who truly know the game and know how to talk about it on is show. It just shows how generic and just a character he is. And Im pretty sure the 49ers made the superbowl before McCaffrey was there. So how does Shannon not know how to coach without him
Why is Stephen A always defending guys like Jerry jones? He’s the one who kept the coach when everybody thought he should’ve been fired last year. Embarrassing you’re out here protecting that guy’s image
12:35 @Stephenasmith Stephen A said, “49ers went to 4 conf championships and 2 Super Bowl in 5 years with nothing to show for it.” Keep in mind the other day on First Take they were talking about qb’s (I think Lamar and someone else) and Stephen was legitimizing those qbs even though they lost to Mahomes in the playoffs. In 2023 the 49ers went to the Super Bowl and lost to Mahomes (Shanahan should get a pass for that because he lost to Mahomes, like Stephen A gave Lamar a pass for losing to Mahomes). In 2022 49ers played Eagles and all their qbs got hurt and Christian McCaffrey had to play Qb (Shanahan should get a pass for that). In 2021 the 49ers lost to the Rams (I have no excuse for Shanahan for that). In 2020 49ers lost to the Buccaneers (Can Shanahan get a pass for losing to Brady since Brady and Mahomes are on the same level?). In 2019 the 49ers lost to the Chiefs (Shanahan gets another pass for losing to Mahomes).
I don't know why people make all these excuses for the 49ers and give them passes for injuries and everything else when everybody in the NFL has injuries. Kyle Shannahan has had one of the best rosters in the league for years and some of the best coaches and doesn't really have anything to show for it
So Kyle Shanahan's 49ers have never come back from an 8pt deficit in the 4th quarter to win a game? I find that hard to believe. Please can someone double-check that? Out of Shanahan's 75 wins, not one of them was after being down by more than 8pts in the 4th?
I am guessing he brings down the deficit to less than 8 points by the end of the 3rd quarter but yeah 0-40 is a ridiculous number. I won't be surprised if it is indeed actually true
It's true. He has 59 losses as a Head coach. 40 of them he was trailing by 8 points or more in the 4th and couldn't come back. In the same time and circumstances, the 49ers are the only team without a win.
@@djedman10 This brings up the question: how often do teams come back in the 4th quarter from 8pts or more? If the answer is "almost never", then the only surprise here is for the 49ers it is actually "never". Otherwise, Shanahan wins a lot more than he loses, so this stat doesn't predict overall winning or losing.
@@edwardsjohnpaul I believe it is as you say, but the point is not if he wins way more than he loses, I think that is obvious. The point is that his offense is meant to play with the lead, not come back from one. His play calling also shows us that, and in some moments, it gets in the way of playing winning ball, because he can get in his own way by being stuck in his ways. He is a great coach nonetheless...
No offense but I don't like the, "they lost to the Chiefs" as an excuse for coming up short. The Chiefs are the model franchise but they're not immortal. Both Super Bowls against the Chiefs were very winnable for the 49ers. Being the best requires beating the best. Many teams had to beat the Patriots during their dynasty to win their Super Bowls (2006 Colts, 2007 Giants, 2011 Giants, 2012 Ravens, 2015 Broncos, and 2018 Eagles).
NFL live is cool im retired an watch it everyday. Coaches would be smart to look at tape of this show. DO an crew do a great job of showing what works an what dont. Jones is an Idiot as a Dallas fan since late 60s he has ruined this team.
just like steven a to waste a couple minutes being a clown before ever getting to the topic. i hope espn bails on this whole hot take, shouty garbage. i'd like sports info not some soap opera clown show.
