I was obsessed with that movie when it came out. I saw it alone in theaters for the 1st time, and had a long walk home alone in the middle of the night when it got out. I ended up sprinting most of it. Been a big fan of found footage films ever since.
Adam this is amazing!!!! Blair Witch is THE movie that make me a horror fan. I absolutely loved it, have the DVD, Blu ray, have seen it around 100 times. Is so so awesome of you offering your platform to help the cast be heard
We totally bought into Blair Witch. My girlfriend at the time and wife now were living in Orlando and working at Universal Studios at the time. You did have to be there for it to make the impact it did! Now we live just a few hours from where ot was filmed. Love the video bro! Love all your video's! Keep em coming!
I used to play Blair Witch with my neighborhood friends in my backyard when we were little!! It's all thick woods back there and a creek!! Good times!! 💓😂 As an adult I loved all of the bonus content they created around the movie. I didn't know any of the conspiracy stuff or the website until way later!
Blair Witch Project was a groundbreaking movie when it comes to “fan made” low budget movies. Broke records I believe, very well done, but WOW! the Blair Witch Project 2 was horrible…. My opinion
It made a quarter billion worldwide on a $60 000 budget. That's around an 8000 percent return. It would be near impossible for a low budget film to get into theaters today.
I disagree, Book of Shadows was an epic film 🎥 none of these were fan made they were all Hollywood to begin with. Now I will say part 3 sucked. I had wrote a script myself that I wish they would’ve used cuz it shows how The Blair witch came to be. ❤ long live this franchise it’s my favorite scary movie cuz it can be very real. Witches are still out there and curses are still alive and active. Stay safe in the woods yall. ❤
BWP was something that just had to be experienced. I had just graduated from college and was hunting for my first job when saw it. I was totally fooled and thought it was 100% real. Great vlog Adam!
Massive respect to the people in Blair Witch who created an iconic horror film and story. I watched Blair Witch for the first time about 10 years ago when I was in my early 20 and I was definitely creeped out. I LOVED IT. They did so good and I hope they feel super proud of themselves. ♥
I ate up everything to do with BWP back in the day! I loved every bit of "evidence" & lore & when we went to see the film I was SO excited! Our friend was manager at the theatre so we got an authentic movie poster from him and a reel of trailers of the film! So all-in-all the BWP is my all-time favorite horror "found footage documentary" with the greatest back story & incredible acting (they were so authentic!) Thanks for sharing this experience with us Adam! PS: we live in the woods so there is always a creep factor, especially at night! 💜🤟🙏
I remember the hype when I was in highschool here in the Netherlands, everybody was talking about it... I have the movie on VHS 📼 and DVD📀... I still enjoy it! It was a great time! 👍
Kind of ironic that you made this vlog cause the first video I watched of yours was the Blair Witch filming location one. Since then I’ve been a huge fan of yours!! Love the videos!
Absolutely awesome vlog. Love the panel session. I used to live in a rural part of San Diego known as Harbison Canyon. Houses are really spread out and back in those days when the sun went down, it was dark and spooky as all get out. A couple of weeks before watching the movie in that house, I was told the house was on Native American burial ground. In those days, that was hard to verify. Watching Blair Witch at 9 pm at night in the house, in a rural area, scared the hell out of me. I didn't sleep for days cause I kept hearing the ghost kids at all hours of the night. Best memory now and I have never done any research on the movie to ruin it. Anytime I go through that area I think of that movie, my fantastic fright and feel like I am there with Heather, Michael, and Josh 💀 🤘🏻
I saw this advertised in my local newspaper that it was showing at the Ritz Five in Philly….at the time it was a low key theater that didn’t show the big movies…..after watching it I legit thought it was real until it went mainstream. I visited the house back years ago near Gaithersburg MD. Btw Adam, my first video I watched of yours was in the Blair Witch filming locations….time flies
Blair Witch Project came out when I was 14, and I totally believed the hype around it, and I love it so much. I even have the books affiliated with it.
I totally agree that you either love it or hate it. In my opinion, before watching you have to be primed into thinking it's real to enjoy the film to its full extent, which is hard nowadays.
I was 11 when the movie came out and it freaked me out. I know it's fake but to this day I still can't watch it. my husband re watched it not long ago and he says it still holds up. you'd get along great with him, Adam.
Blair Witch was one of the creepiest, and fun, movie experience I've ever had in my life. My wife, who's 15 years younger than me, doesn't appreciate it at all because of the era & timing differences you pointed out.😅
My girlfriend and I at the time went to the mall to see this movie. There was an eerie silence amongst the crowd as we exited the theater. I remember feeling embarrassed that I came to the theater to see this movie.
I remember I ate some mushrooms and watched in a theater. The really trippy part is I was all alone in the theater. It was a matinee show a few weeks after it had been out already. It was scary but fun
Here in MD they had a weekend camping excursion thru the area they filmed the movie. We spent the day in Burkittsville and the next camping. We had a great time. Such a shame the actors didnt get what they were worth. I hope they are given what they are asking.
My mother is an avid horror fan so she took me (age 8) and my sister (age 6) to see it when it premiered in theaters- an unforgettable group experience for everyone in the theater.
Adam, in the late 90’s I was in the same class as the guys that made the Blair Witch Project when I was at UCF and took a few film classes. They were cool to chat with.
@@drewblanche No, her name really was Heather Donahue. She changed it because of the film, she didn't want to be associated with it anymore. Clearly things have changed ($$$) in the past few years. The other actors still go by their original names, as you can see.
I was young when I watched BWP and remember at the end not knowing what happened and that being the scariest part. To me it redefined the horror cut and paste format.
Great coverage of this event! I remember when Blair Witch came out. I am in between on how I feel about it, but will say this.. It made its mark on me.. When it’s on.. all of a sudden.. I find that I watch it. 😎 FNAF Chica was an awesome cosplay!
I still love the movie. It’s proper horror with suspense, atmosphere and sound design. Plus, knowing it was found footage and could be real made it that much better. I actually had the internet when it came out but it was hard to find info outside of some fan sites and chats.
From what I have read the cast members each received a payment of $300,000 after the film was a success. That's a pretty darn good paycheck in 1999 money.
@@GDavis49 so if you work at wendy's and they decide to release a new burger 20 years later they owe you money? It sounds like greed to me. If their likeness is used in the new one then they should be paid but otherwise they should be sued for talking crap.
Worked with Joshua Leonard on the set of Scorpion about ~8-10 years ago. Super nice guy! I was an assistant director of photography for all of Seasons 2-4. I definitely fan-girl’d hard as Blair Witch was so influential as a kid of the 80s & teen of the 90’s.
yes "BLAIR WITCH PROJECT" was indeed something of its own back then, a fan film before there were any fan films, before the fact checking internet. it had me going as well. and really good score with your "REACTION STRIPE", I have several MECA brand Gremlin figures big fan to, your purchase...it got my attention.
I remember seeing it in theater and getting motion sick. Fun movie, but I also remember people spoiling the whole "found footage" as not being real. Still a fun one to see. Theater was packed. Also I loved seeing the Pacers Destroy the Knicks at the Garden!!
I remember watching Blair Witch when it came out. I was about 5 years old and watched it from the hallway because the parents thought it would spook me. It did. It took quite a few years for me to understand it was just a movie and no fact checkable evidence of it being true. I believed in the Blair Witch being real much longer than I ever believed in Santa. Still one of my top movies to watch throughout the month of October.
Michael hasnt changed a bit! I remember going to the cinema to see it. The end left me with something I cant describe, it is still with me. Creeped me out. I remember the drive back from Glasgow (we drove around 40 miles to get there), it was dark, and there was this silence in the car for a brief period. Just before we all said how we felt, and we felt it. awesome time to experience it. Not sure a movie has hit me the same as Blair Witch.
Great vid! I guess I'll be watching Blair Witch later. 😅 was that guy sad about the Knicks? 😂😂 that really would have been freaky if you found the twigs again🤯
I remember seeing it when it was released in the theater. Scary film and also made me motion sick lol. Cloverfield too did that. Couldn't watch the screen with how the camera moved. There was a lot of mystery around it when Blair Witch Project came out. Can't say I loved the movie, but it definitely was something different and unique at the time.
In October of 1994 three student filmmakers went into the woods and disappeared. A year later their footage was found and used as an excuse by Hollywood not to spend money on horror movie budgets or flesh out monsters ever again.
Don't have any in Michigan that I am aware of and we don't have any Waffle Houses either. And I love Waffle House ..so greasey but so good. Can't help it..
I completely fell for the Blair Witch movie 😅 Even went to Burkittsville for a camping trip with a couple friends. Spent the night terrified for no reason at all.
I think Blair Witch made me the horror fan I am today. I saw it when i was 9 years old after it first come out on home video. I was at my cousin's house and it was late. After we watched it and it scared the crap out of me my Aunt told me i wasn't able to stay the night so I had to walk home at 11PM through a foreste ravine. It was the scariest thing ever and I have been chasing that high ever since.
Adam, ask Tim about his banana knee. I was 30 when Blair Witch came out. I was camping in Moab, Utah. It was hot and we went to the movie theater and watched the movie. It was a big deal at that time.
