Id mail it back in one of those purple plastic tubes, you know the ones with the cotton balls on a string inside of it. That way it won’t get damaged in shipping!
This guy gene is not a gunsmith and neither i am but i am a reloader and do some of my own gun work im only 28 but jeff knows his way around a rifle and muzzleloaders I've never met the guy in my life but would trust him with any work i needed done as far as cost for parts anything custom costs gotta pay to play the game
I bet he was trying to put in a shell holder. As soon as you explained I guessed he forgot to take out a shell holder or put a 50 cal shell holder in there trying to put the pusher stem into it.
I bought a new RCBS press and your pusher won't go in or would any of the shell holders I have, come to find out there was a small bur on the underside of the shell holder. I took a small fine file and about 3 minutes of work and everything slides right in. sqezer
That 2nd rcbs press you tried it in is the same one i use on all my reloading haha. Never goind a reason to buy a newer press. Been working fine for my father in law and now me.
The ram from you fits fine an older Redding, a custom Harrell, and a brand new Lee hand press. Some press rams can back up with spent primers when working brass…. You pretty much covered it all.
If those actually cost $10 it’s ludicrous the amount of complaining it has generated from this guy. Last customer I had that wouldn’t let me explain their issue, I told them they could call the office, and they could perhaps explain it. Then I left lol.
My buddy got one from you for his lee hand press and it was just a bit too snug to fit. About 5 seconds on the grinder and it fits perfectly. Gotta love dealing with the public! 😆
I had an old pacific press that didn’t have shell holders, you had to have rams to fit each shell you load. I don’t know if RCBS ever made them like that. I did find a RCBS ram to replace that, to be able to accept shell holders.
If yer ever in Hatfield&mcoy territory your welcome here Jeff and we can hunt all you want…I love it…good lookin bucks…last 2 I took were with 6” longslide trp 1911 in 10mm..
I have an OLD pacific press that has the ram designed to actually hold a 30-06 piece of brass. Got rid of it long ago, but it may be in the barn somewhere. Sounds like he needs a new ram😮
The old herters press was a bit smaller in the ram where the shell holder goes , I know because I have one I had to buy an adapter for the newer shell holder
I wonder if all the other shell holders he has from his fifty years of reloading all fit his press? I would also think he would have tried your stem in a different press before making a fool of himself. Old Gene is going to feel just about as sour as Edge (on Dougs Message Board ) did when you proved him wrong about the threads on a breech plug didn't seal without a shoulder.
