Charleston White is just being himself. Speaking his truth. I've always felt that Black men were the smartest and strongest of all males. Like you said, Sko, they were not allowed to read or write due to fear of rising above the oppressor. I love Black men, but for a while now I've been so disheartened at the fact (or my opinion) that Black men have become complacent in where they are now in society. Like they've somehow given up hope of ever rising above racism. We've all heard the saying, when you get to the head, you get to the tail. Your women and children are your tail. When you were beaten and killed in front of them, it damn near destroyed us as a race. I feel it's time for Black men to start feeling and acting like the head of your race so your tail can become stronger and we can flourish as a race. We are not thriving right now. My heart hurts because I feel like I will never see them take their rightful place in society, but it will come. I'll be 50 next year so I may not have much longer (who knows), but maybe my children or grandchildren will get a chance to see an All Black Everything and not just stop at one Black president. There is a lot to unpack here, both in the clip you played and your response. First, I wish Charleston says what he has to say when not brushing his teeth and shaving at the same time, but maybe Charleston really felt some kind of way about the things Boosie said. I think Boosie had some emotional reactions to the "white lives matter" shirts and Boosie has said what he has to say. Maybe Boosie overreacted, maybe not, because as a "white" man it is not my place to tell any black person how they should or should not react to a message like "white lives matter." My own thoughts were that on the surface, there is nothing wrong with "white lives matter" if we erase history, including very recent history (such as the killings of Tamir Rice, George Floyd, etc.) However, this society has always valued white lives above black and indigenous ones, and valued some white lives (based on class and how much money they have) over other white lives. A more accurate statement might be, in my humble opinion, that no lives matter. I put aside my own low tolerance for Tucker Carlson (that's a whole other discussion) and listened to what Ye (what Kanye calls himself now) had to say. While some of what Ye said makes sense, he also often contradicted himself, jumped from topic to topic in mid-sentence and should have been questioned more about the things he had just said. Tucker did not do that, whether due to time constraints or sensationalism or whatever reason. Today, before I heard you say it, it ocurred to me that Ye might be doing all this "white lives matter", the Instagram arguments back and forth with Diddy and Boosie to market himself. Also, perhaps, just like the former POTUS Trump whom Ye likes, Ye thrives off keeping his name in the media, whether the publicity is good or bad.
