The last trailer for Sora took place in the same location as the reveal trailer for the game all those years ago, with Inkling Girl looking at the flaming Smash logo. My quote of "Welcome to Dark Souls, bitch" had become a meme back then, so I figured I'd bring it back for old times sake. Add in the fact that the single flame aesthetic was giving me HUGE Dark Souls vibes before it turned out to be Sora, and that's a recipe for nostalgia.

@@BaconNuke it was about 1-1.5 years old depending on where you lived. Persona was popular, if a bit niche, but it really took off with P5. Sakurai also really enjoyed P5 himself, which may have played a part in Joker's inclusion.

I dont know how but ive never realized how many characters are in smash ultimate. DQ, King K Rool, Sora, and banjo and kazooie play a huge role in my childhood. I was watching a compilation of final smashes when i saw a guy named hero who looked like erdrick and i couldnt believe it was real and nearly shed a tear. Im so glad this compilation and community is filled with others i can share the hype with even though im years late lmao

My mind will never comprehend how anyone can complain about the game when Sakurai delivered EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER from previous games, added a bunch more for the base game, along with 11 more through DLC, with stages, music, and everything else. A labor of love through and through. I hope he rests now. He really went above and beyond with Ultimate.

It honestly feels like Smash hasn't come out yet because every character reveal gives the feeling of a new game coming out.

If feeling nostalgic for this game is wrong, then I don't want to be right.

some argue that time is percieved as having passed faster when more memorable events happen during a period of time. with this perspective, not wrong at all so many characters and moments since smash ultimate first started generating hype, it feels like it started so long ago, when in fact it's just been 3 years crazy

I wanted both, but am relieved, in a sad way, that we didn't get Crash, just because of all the Activision drama going on right now.

Unless they sell the crash brand to another company, which is highly unlikely, I won’t expect him to appear in any smash game any time soon.

@@invaderperidot the funny thing is that Disney has had ties to Nintendo since 1959 where they made a deal for Nintendo to distribute Disney merchandise in Japan that included cards that sold very well. This was during the era when Nintendo hadn’t find itself yet and was a card company among other things. Nintendo owes it’s success to Disney for helping them climb to the top, as it allowed them to be publicly listed as an official company. What’s funny is that Nintendo is actually *OLDER* then Disney believe it or not. The only difference is that Disney always stuck to their way of making entertainment, Nintendo shifted their organization up a bit till they became a video game developer, publisher, and console manufacturer. Activision on the other hand, isn’t a very loyal company anymore. They used to be a very small video game developer that worked on games for Atari and then they transitioned into a giant publisher conglomerate that buys out a bunch of other independent studios, harasses their employees, or either shutdown the studios if they aren’t making enough good content or just merge them into a better division just so they can assist their game development on titles such as call of duty which are practically the same game every year. They aren’t a worthy company anymore, even if they had a historical importance in the games industry and now owns two important gaming icons from the ps era. They may have started the toys to life craze which caused amiibo to be created but if I recall correctly, it seems that nobody from Activision or blizzard has been contacted by Nintendo about anything smash related since their current controversies. I don’t think they are going to try working with them again.

The best reveal trailer though overall was Sephiroth's.

Comments of past reveal trailers like that live rent-free in my mind now that Sora's out. Those people were the truest of believers and never gave up hope until the very last trailer and I'm so happy they get Sora!

@@MurderofBirdsImpact I know right, it's incredible. I never played kingdom hearts! I heard its a great franchise though, and I understand why everyone was hyped about him being in the game. It just brings me joy seeing all these ppeople excited to see sora finally join. I also find it amazing, not just because of sora but because Sakurai and his team managed to convince DISNEY of all companies to let them add sora; its amazing honestly

EXACTLY! I just said this in another comment, but Smash reveals were an event all their own. It's the only game that I know where it seems like the whole world stops what their doing, they watch/react to the trailer, they walk about on social media all day and they everyone watches reactions on RU-vid. I'm SO gonna miss doing these.

RogersBase's reaction compilation is actually what inspired me to make this video as my first upload to the gaming channel.
