“If that little kid likes me, how bad can I be?” This quote hits me hard especially after my ex-girlfriend recently broke up with me. She made me feel and think that I was in fact a bad guy. But when the neighborhood kids follow you around looking for a good time, are not afraid of you, personally tell you how things are and how they want to be like you when they grow up is beyond uplifting. So, I guess I’m not a bad guy after all then. Just like Ralph.
I love that part, too. It's the core of Ralph's journey. If you notice, Ralph banter, sass, and did say a few lies, but ultimately, he doesn't say anything he means. Here he is falling to his actual death, likely to die mourned only be a few, and knows he's partially responsible for what's happened with his game, but he really DOES embrace that there is no one he'd rather be than himself. And it's not this current day, "I'm so perfect, ADORE ME!" lunacy. In fact, I will take a moment to say ultimately many of those people do not actually like themselves either. No, it's the realization I am a person as-is, and I am worthwhile as I am, flaws and all. To paraphrase, "Someone loves me just as I am. And if someone that precious can love me like that, how bad can I be?" Cheers.
Like a parent or older sibling kind of person taking the hit for someone they love because they see themselves in that person. This tear jerking moment is exactly why I want to see people react to this scene.
When you reach the point where you just wanna give Duaffy and her huge heart a ginormous hug because she's so caught up in her caring about all these characters... animated characters in arcade games in a movie. That's like 3 levels of fiction, but Duaffy still cares... that's a beautiful soul :) and as for cats, is there any better blast of serotonin than when you're petting a cat and it purrs?
I've actually played a “Fix-It Felix, Jr.” arcade cabinet at Disneyland in California. It was set up as free-to-play, and I assume they didn't install it until after this movie opened.
It also used to be available for mobile devices but it was taken down sadly i have it on my phone it's easier to get on Android devices. But honestly I'm jealous you got to play a actual replica of the cabinet arcade.
Vanellope, along with Boo from Monsters Inc, are the two most authentic children ever animated. Boo act and talks exactly like a 2 year old and Vanellope is exactly like a 4 year old, it's like they're real children. It's really quite extraordinary, and a big reason why the characters are so amazing and heartfelt.
15:33 Sarah Silverman (who voiced Vanellope) will forever have my admiration for getting to make poop jokes in a Disney movie. 17:42 “Jeeves” was the name of a butler to an English gentleman in a book series by P.G. Wodehouse, and has become a stereotypical name for a butler.
The reason why Calhoun looks so familiar is because she is played by Jane Lynch who also was in Glee as Sue Sylvester and they modeled the animation after her
Saw this when it came out in cinemas in the UK. Definitely cried when Ralph was going to sacrifice himself, and when he gave the closing speech. The amount of subtle and obvious gaming references in this movie shows what happens when there are suitable writers for the job.
This is one of my favorite films. I wish the sequel had been up to the same quality, but we won't go into that. The fun part is while people think this is a story about video games, it's a vehicle for a much deeper story. It's about seeing yourself for who you are and being able to _like_ yourself. There are things to change in all of us, true, but there's a difference between growing more mature and seeing value in yourself as a person. You don't have to be like other people. In fact, why should you? The story is much deeper than people suspect. It's quite enjoyable on the surface, but I'm going to use one character as an example. Believe it or not, I'm going to use Fix-it Felix, Jr. himself. He actually is a good guy from the beginning. His sweet nature is not fake. He has flaws, but his biggest flaw is that he's willing to let the majority opinion rule and not see how other people's opinions can be wrong or hurtful. That includes opinions of his friends. Yes, I'm sure most of you realized that, but the quintessential scene is in the dungeon. Not only does Felix get confronted with the realization of just how much Ralph has been ostracized, but how unknowingly he's been part of it. And to make this clear, Felix has actually been friendly enough to Ralph before this revelation. He invited him into the party, after all. But now it's real. And when asked to make things right, what does Felix do? Without question and without hesitation, he fixes Vanellope's cart -- because it's the right thing to do. He sticks by everyone to the end ... much like Capt. America to his friends. After that, you can see his treatment of Ralph is genuine and strong. Felix doesn't back down. If you notice, the banter between Ralph and Felix is deeper. Not only does Felix call Ralph, "brother," but Ralph calls Felix, "Little Brother." Wreck-it Ralph can be summed up in something Mr. Fred Rodgers said often. "You made today a special day just be being yourself. There's no one in the world exactly like you, and people _can_ like you exactly the way you are." P.S. Duaffy, I'm not sure if you ever read these comments, but ever since I came across a video of yours almost two years ago, I've looked forward to every one. You have a genuine sweet heart. Never change. And if you need encouragement, let us know because you have encouraged us. Thank you.
There's a theory that Sugar Rush actually had a King Candy, but Turbo took over that character's code, so he could race some more. It would explain how Vanellope was a princess.
Duaffy, you seem like a very good person and your kitties have your number and know it in a way only pets can. This is one of our favorite movies and the continuation of Vanellapes' story in Ralph Breaks the Internet is wonderful. I think you'll enjoy that one as well. Vanellope meets GTA racing type game.
I was inspired by this movie a long time ago to write this poem. I loved this movie, and it still serves as inspiration for creativity at times. Duaffy's reaction to this is refreshing
14:56 Fun fact, those breaths are actually Darth Vader breaths. You can’t hear it in this video cos it’s muted but if you watch it, it sounds identical to Darth Vader breathing in Star Wars
When my children get older, I will have to find another excuse for watching these animated gems. Sergeant Calhoun was voiced by and modeled after Jane Lynch. Vanellope was voiced by Sarah Silverman. They did a good job of capturing her cuteness. Sarah is adorable herself... which is a wonderful contrast with her stand up comedy. The things that come out of that woman's mouth... for adults only is an understatement. You need to watch the sequel, "Ralph Breaks the Internet". The whole movie is very good but there's one scene where Vanellope meets the other Disney princesses. That scene alone is well worth the price of admission.
Best video game movie ever. (Not that it's a high bar to clear.) I'd also say that the sequel doesn't really have the heart of the first movie, though I did find it funny. I'll again highly recommend reacting to _Encanto;_ it's also got a lot of heart, the animation is gorgeous, plus it's got a literally Billboard-topping soundtrack by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Some of the references you might've missed: When a soldier from Hero's Duty walks into a wall and appears to continue walking in the same spot, this is meant to show a video game character whose animation is glitching and stuck. When Felix fixes himself with a hammer after Calhoun hits him over and over, this is something called "farming" in video games: doing a repetitive action to gather points / resources. Last one is not 100%, but I like to believe it: when Ralph is covered in green, it's a parody of Shrek
Great movie. I was bored and looking for something to do. I found this movie and it was like "Well, it's better than doing nothing I guess." Yep, tons better. I was really surprised at how much I like it. Now, react to the sequel. It's great too. 😁
The weird thing is that while M. Bison from Street Fighter II was correctly shown as a member of Bad Anon, including Zangief was actually wrong: According to the game's canon, Zangief is actually one of the game's heroes. Apparently, the director always had such a difficult time whenever he had to fight Zangief in the game he decided to put him in Bad Anon has a bit of petty vengeance. And not only did NO ONE except to see a Mortal Kombat character in a Disney movie in the first place, but to actually have Kano perform his heart-rip Fatality just made the cameo even better.
"Wreck-It Ralph" was an interesting movie, even though I'm not a gamer and video game arcades happened after I finished grade school. Nevertheless, there is a Hero's Journey for several characters, which makes it a winner. Ralph views Fix-It Felix as an enemy, and Felix regards Ralph as a complainer. However, when Ralph is no where to be found, the game is "Out of Order" and about to be trashed. Meanwhile, Ralph enters "Hero's Duty," and gets his medal, but is launched into the Sugar Rush game. Vanellope finds Ralph and takes his medal. Things get very complicated, and "Turbo" is unmasked. Felix discovers that he needs Ralph, and the Battle of Sugar Rush changes the characters of the "Fix-It-Felix" and "Sugar Rush" games.
I just found your channel and I LOVED your reaction to this Movie (you just got yourself another subscriber), this movie is definitely one of my favorites from Disney maybe even my favorite for many reasons and the second one is Adorable as well I can't wait for you to check that out same with other amazing movies as well! Also at 8:00 that is Jane Lynch that is probably why you thought she looked/sounded familiar, anyways I can't wait for more Content from you and I hope that you are doing well and staying safe and healthy Duaffy! P.S. If you ever need any good Videos/Movies/Shows I could totally help you out with that if you need it!
I have found that sometimes, or many times, things happen that make you question yourself. Depending on you actions before hand, you may not have deserved it or been bad, it just happened. Be good and stay safe Duaffy, the world needs saving and there are only so many of us to help.
That was a great reaction, just like always. And yes our cherished fur-children can indeed tune in and know when we are not feeling well. We have a rescue so we have and have had many animals, and anyone who has been around animals for any period of time knows but they are just as emotional as we are in their own way.
What a touching sentiment at the end of the video. I love the way you think. There are beautiful souls out there who feel deeply as you, even for a disney animated movie.
It's so true that movies like this make the world feel more magical to kids. I remember when Toy Story came out, after we got home from the theater, I spent the whole night pretending to sleep and peeking out from under the covers to trying to catch my toys playing without me. Never told anyone that, but its apart of my inner child that makes me love movies like this.
Oh my, I really needed this reaction this morning. A wonderful if temporary distraction of laughter, heart, and your entertaining comments. Thanks, Duaffy!
Genuinely warm reaction. What I needed to see today. By the way Jeeves is a butler, a character in a series of comedy novels by P G Wodehouse. Very English . Jeeves manages the somewhat chaotic life of his boss Bertie Wooster, who is a kind of upper class gentleman of independent means but somewhat lacking in common sense. Jeeves is the common sense in the equation. Haven’t read them in years but as I recall they were great fun. My English teacher at school looong ago put me on to them.
This is one of the few animated movies I truly enjoy. It's just a great story and message to everyone. This movie and Kung Fu Panda, The Incredibles, Over the Hedge, all are great fun movies at any age.
I thought this sounded like a stupid movie at first, until I saw a clip on RU-vid. That made me want to watch it, and I was very impressed. Great movie.
Hahaha, your reaction to the eggs was amazing. This was a great movie, I absolutely love this, and I love how much you liked some of the moments like the delicious dogs. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who cried at the end and at the message :) Thank you for this reaction!
Agreed - terrific film. I'm not really a gamer, myself, but the story and characters are so heartwarming, and I love the arcade setting; it's so creatively handled. The sequel is... NOT as good. In fact, I'll be honest, I hate it; it's basically just a lot of already-dated Internet/Disney jokes and does some awful things, in my opinion, to Ralph's character - but, some people do like it, so... yeah. Still, the first one's great; agreed. And since you asked - Vanellope calling Ralph 'Jeeves' is a reference to the 'Jeeves and Wooster' stories by P.G Wodehouse. Jeeves is the super-competent valet to Bertie Wooster, the archetypical 'upper-class twit'; he basically knows everything and almost always winds up saving his employer's bacon through some clever trick or useful piece of information. His name has become popular shorthand for a valet or a butler. (I recommend the stories, by the way; they're really funny.)
Agreed. "Jeeves and Wooster" is hilarious. Most stuff from Wodehouse is brilliant. There's a late 90s / early 2000s version of "Jeeves and Wooster." Completely recommend it.
I knew you would love this one, I too feel like ralph sometimes, but every now and then you find a sweet girl that likes you even if you don't feel like you deserve it, and give your life a whole new meaning. Thanks for watching it :)
Me encantó tu reacción, y me sorprendió que vieras la versión en español de la película, es una de mis favoritas, por cierto, te noto algo diferente, creo que sé qué es pero no te preguntaré, saluditos desde México
When the movie came out, people wanted to play the games in it, so Disney created an Adobe Flash version of Fix It Felix Jr. to play in browsers. They late also made a game of Sugar Rush, but it required some browser plugin that I didn't have. Later there was an actual arcade machine made of Fix it Felix Jr. Because the game was so appealing, people have made unofficial ports of it to other systems. There is a version for the Sega Genesis and also one for the Commodore 64. Both are extremely well done and faithful to what's seen in the movie (even if they aren't 100% identical). They can be played on real hardware, or in emulators.
Fun fact: King Candy is voiced by Alan Tudyk, who plays Wash in Firefly, which you're half way through at the moment (so no spoilers please folks). Did you recognize his voice? I didn't.
Fun Facr: The Hero's Duty music WAS produced by Skrillex (Which is also how he finessed his way into a cameo lol) but unfortunately it's not on the soundtrack album. Instead a remix made by Noisia was added as a replacement. Nobody knows what the reason as to why that switch up happened but it is what it is.
Closest a movie has ever got to making me cry. I don't cry at movies because a large enough part of my mind knows its fictional that I can stay detatched. THIS movie though, when he broke her car. That nearly had me. (sad movies about real events are different as you may suspect but I don't really watch those...I don't enjoy them for some unknowable reason, lol)
15:49 "His _hand_ is _bigger_ than _her."_ Let me just emphasize what Duaffy just observed. She did not say, "His hand is bigger than _hers."_ She said, "His hand is bigger than _her."_ She didn't point out that Ralph's hand is bigger than _Vanellope's_ hand. She pointed out that Ralph's hand is bigger than _Vanellope._ Ralph has big _hands._
I love movies and I love games and this movie checked all the boxes I loved it. Hi Duaffy love your videos and love the sign in the background that always says the movie or show you watch lol 😊❤ also say hi to your cat 😺
If you listen really closely they actually give it away long before the reveal. Alan Tudyk quite clearly uses the same voice for Turbo during Felix's flashback exposition that he uses for King Candy. It's just easy to miss because of how the audio is muted/corrupted. The voice (and design of Candy) is also a reference to the Hatter from Alice in Wonderland.
“If that little kid likes me, how bad can I be?” As father. I know I have made mistakes and missed a lot of her life due to military deployments, but hearing my daughter say she loves and admires me really uplifts my spirit :)
En su versión al español latino, la voz de vanéllope es de Maria Antonieta de las Nieves, mayormente conocida como La Chilindrina. Su voz suena tan tierna como en su versión original ❤️❤️❤️❤️
17:36 to 17;42 Thank you Jeeves. "Jeeves? What does that mean? Jeeves is an old butler or doorman's name from old TV shows and movies. Usually British.
It's been to long since I've seen this movie. Loved your reaction! If you want an amazing animated trilogy you should react to 'How to Train Your Dragon.'
