If you viewers are having a hard time finding or understanding the the kind of information you're suggesting they find, I've had a great deal of help from AI chat bot. They can give you product information, and what machines are compatible together. Ive tried a many different ai apps but my favorite is Genie. That particular AI answers my questions extremely thoroughly, and always makes sure to warn me about any trouble I might possibly come across, like making sure I knowcompatible consumables are, and any additional equipment I might need or want. It's really very impressive all the things an AI chat can help you with. It saves me SO much time and energy!

Great video. I will be sharing with friends and family who may be considering purchasing a Cutting machine. I do tell them this exact information in my own way, but you are a trusted source who explains things easily understood and to the point. I avoided the Cricut line for years because they required use of their physical expensive cartridges. But in 2014 when the Explore came out I heard mention of a future Print then Cut feature and the ability to upload your own files from non Cricut sites. That fascinated me, as I have lots of digital clipart that I didn't use as much, I didn't like cutting with scissors. So I learned as much as I could about Cricut's print then cut feature and how to use Design Space. I also understood it was a cloud based software to run the machine, so realized I would need a powerful computer. I think that Cricut does need to up their Specs page for letting people know the specs that will give the user the best user experience, as right now they give the very bare minimum, that barely run the software. So with my pre-learning and research, when I finally bought an Explore, I was ready to dive right in on the day my machine arrived at my home . I now have a Maker and am enjoying crafting, still doing mostly print then cut stuff, but having fun. I am lucky that I don't get frustrated as many others do with Cricut's updates, or with changing technology. I go with the flow, and as you mention May May, all of these companies want to help users, not hinder them, but the user has to be willing to learn, be patient and keep pace with change. I am 75, and I think its healthy for me to keep being challenged by learning new things. Happy Crafting, Crafters. Thank you May May for all you do for the crafting community.

Wow, talk about perfect timing. I'm new to this type of crafting and I'm in the "research" phase leading up to my first machine purchase. This video couldn't have been more timely for me. Thanks, MayMay! I'd like to add one more point: Space. I don't have a lot of space for crafting, especially if the machine has to be in the same room with my desktop computer.
@Tuzyae
@Tuzyae 2 года назад
I will tell you this: If your computer is Bluetooth capable, the new machines can hook up that way so you don’t have to be in the same room. From a functionality standpoint, it works a lot smoother if you are in the same room though. Otherwise, it’s a lot of back and forth and it can get frustrating. People love the Bluetooth function but I rarely use it since I have to physically be by the machine to load and unload mats and start the cutting process. I might as well have my computer right next to it to start the process picking my materials and the tools in the software. One of the tools even requires a cable hookup to the computer which people somehow forget to mention.
@renorebe.
@renorebe. 2 года назад
@@Tuzyae Thank you for your comments. I want to be well informed before I make the investment. I could easily find myself in a situation where I need to keep buying stuff and then I'll get frustrated. Right now I'm in "information overload" mode.

Another issue is whether you want to use somebody else's designs or design things yourself. Some brands are less open than others to allowing you to upload images and projects you've designed elsewhere (such as in a Paint or Drawing program) and/or editing images in the cutting-machine software.

I was tempted by the Cricut Joy but, after a lot of wrangling between 'need' and 'want', I decided not to buy that type of machine and I don't regret my decision one jot! I have no problem with using IT but what I do have is a Sizzix Big Shot Plus and several thousand dies of different types. They cut everything I could ever possibly need, so why discard them in favour of 'the latest thing'?! If I was brand new to crafting, I would almost certainly plump for an electronic machine but I'm not... and therefore will continue to use and enjoy my dies. 😊

I bought a Brother Scan N Cut to cut stamped images and images on paper to bottom line, not to buy more dies. I still use what I have, but in the year I've had it so far, I have saved a lot by not buying new dies. I stamped a bunch of images, colored them, and cut them out on my Scan N Cut, it was great. It even cuts whiskers on my cat stamps! I can't do that fussy cutting!

I was thinking the same to keep my Sizzix big plus machine and my dies and forget the hype. BUT the problem is I want to create 3D pop up cards,more assembling time than rolling up my tiny dies in the sizzix machine. I love paper craft but doing everything manual is very tedious, even I have some chinese dies (2) of the same figure just to speed up.. It works but Im very interested in the 3D look and its becoming expensive with the dies instead of buying a SVG file for 5USD. By the way you can cut bigger than the dies you get from the paper craft companies. There are tons of free svg as well.

And there you have it. I've been looking, too, but have an Accuquilt Big, along with many dies. I can't justify, financially, or space-wise, another machine.

I've printed some and hand cut them but discovered that it's quite difficult with my disability as it makes my symptoms worse especially my hands shaking which is not good when doing lots of careful cutting. The shaking makes my cutting less precise and therefore the stickers are lower quality. This video has been helpful making sure I consider different aspects. Bought a Cricut Maker in November, and I love it. I'm self employed so while I'm working I have RU-vid videos running and get lots of tips that way. That said, I have a logical type of personality and like to figure out how things work so that helps! Patience patience is the key - most of my projects take me way longer than I think they'll take and I wish I had more time to craft.

This is a great video! My aunt is very tech challenged and had to take several classes at Michaels to figure out how to use her cricut. She still struggles. She bought the Brother SNC for the scanning, tracing and cutting abilities, but still struggles with that machine too. The Brother SNC does have a collection of designs built in the machine, so if you want to just stick with basic shapes and simple designs, no computer is needed. But I totally agree. Research, research and more research. Saves you $$$. 🙂

The things you forgot to touch base on that is a waste in my opinion is the CRICUT DESIGN SPACE SUBSCRIPTION & LIMITED UPLOADS FOR FREE USERS!!!! It’s like $10 for the subscription to use extra features and what not but the one thing that has upset me most is the limited uploads. You get 20 uploads per month so if you have something you plan on doing for multiple projects you’re limited. How are they gonna charge me extra on top of buying the machine and the materials and god knows what else to just be limited!??? SO FRUSTRATING! As if they haven’t made enough money off of people!

Got my machine unboxed, cut their sample test and quickly purchased a svg file within hours of receiving my machine. Upon trying to open the file I soon found out files need a computer. Oh no, my heart and ambition rapidly diminished. Thankfully my boss purchased a laptop out of fear when the pandemic started for me to work from home if I were to get sick. Right now, I'm making lots of cards for Veterans. Being able to cut various sizes and multiple images really streamlines my projects. The recipients are (hopefully) accepting of my novice status and I'm getting plenty of practice while doing something I want to do. In my previous comment here, I mentioned a lack of space. I fixed that. I turned a spare bedroom into my craft room, complete with two large work tables and plenty of storage. I'm making the investment, so quality crafting will become eaiser. Thanks, Maymay for your helpful videos. I'm really enjoying the current Monday series.

I appreciate this video because I was so jealous, but I will just keep my sewing machine and as someone said, use an Exacto knife. It was a good thing they got married during a summer break as she is in her second year of law school and needed that time to learn how to use it. But she loves whatever she has, and those wedding favors were gorgeous. Many people commented on them and realized sheʼs more than a high maintenance blonde. Nope, after this, I am no longer green.
