They were very similar coaching styles though Potter and Mourinho are not. That’s like is Man United sacked Ferguson, and replaced him with Mourinho mid-season. Completely different Actually, a much better example is Bayern last season. They replaced Naglesmann, an attacking, pressing focused coach, with Tuchel, who’s much more defensive and possession based, and they fell apart. Would’ve went trophyless if it wasn’t for Dortmund choking against Mainz
Yeah, it's the premier league🤣 Have you not noticed that the calibre of manager at international level is significantly lower? That's because a manager has a lot less to do for country than for club
@@mondlimathonsi3402 Bobby Martinez is mad underrated. That Wigan team was horrendous and at Everton he was easily the best post Moyes manager, and that includes Ancelloti, Benitez and Koeman.
I think it’s hilarious that Portugal are being managed by a bloke who’s Swansea side got beaten by Havant and Waterlooville. Remember that for Martinez calling Havant a pub team after the first game then when the Hawks were 3.1 up at half time in the replay my dad shouting Oi Martinez and he looked my dad square in the eye as my dad said what’s your excuse now grass not green enough for your little darlings? Wonderful memories.
Belgium were supposedly the strongest National Team in the World during Martinez's time as their Manager. Yes they got 3rd place at the World Cup in 2018 but went out the in the qtr finals of the Euros in 2020 and the group stage in Qatar! If anything Southgate's actually done better with England than Martinez did with Belgium!
@@franohmsford7548Belgium schould have gotten a trophy but Martinez decided that Youth doesnt exist, and stick to a defensive tactic when we lead even though we are way better attacking
The only time a team came close to win a major tournament in spite of the coach, it was France 2006. Can you imagine Domenech being able to call himself World Champion?
@@JoseFranco9 Did you just call a 2 time Copa Libertadores winner, someone who reached the Euro 2004 Final and 2006 World Cup Semi-Final and led that sub-standard 2014 Brazil squad to the semis a clown? Surely he has to be competent enough I didn't pay much attention to Portugal past Euro 2016 so I'm not gonna be judging here Also, I meant International tournaments
@@lucaslonchampt613 Scolari is a clown yes. That Portugal team choking vs Greek farmers with a legendary squad and that Brazil 2014 run wouldve ended in R16 if it wasn't for Julio Cesar.
@@JoseFranco9 OK, so nevermind the fact that he took a Brazil team in crisis and won the world cup with them, think about who else Greece faced in that run to the trophy. Spain, France, the Czech Republic of Cech and Nedved. Yet they won. So was this a tournament of chokers?
could see that happening, not gonna lie. will finish upper midtable with Wolves and challenge for Europe, maybe get it. That's a better story than Luton even if they stay up. Also it'd be hilarious to see what Irish Guy has to say about it Wolves can probably get Graham Potter then or someone
I completely I agree. I don’t get why people get carried away with friendlies. If we won 5-0 everybody would be saying it’s coming home. I never have been Southgate in but maybe players just don’t care about friendlies and want to focus on not getting injured to play actual matches
@@pratosaurusrex1128people hate us so much out of jealousy mate don’t worry 😂 let them yap. Notice how most of them come from countries who aren’t as gifted as us when it comes to talent in football
Thank you Irish guys for pointing out that Goldbridge opinion, one of the worst take I've ever heard. If he can win you the Euros anyway according to Goldbridge, why want him sacked now?
As a fellow Irish man, I always find it funny to watch the England fans lose their minds after losing a friendly of all things, were as in Ireland we can’t even get a manager 😂
@@grealish2234 Irish people have no problem with (most) English people and we all generally get on well, however if there’s any type of competition we want England to lose
👏 I hate it too and I’m English. Like him or not, he won’t be gone until after the Euros. So there’s no point hounding him out until after then. For now, our only chance of success is to pull in the same direction and get behind Southgate and the players. Come on England 🏴
If any football fan allows their opinions to be influenced too much by RU-vidrs overreacting to everything for views then of course they’ll sound like delusional idiots, people like mark goldbridge, Rory Jennings, and Irish Guy do it for views, and it’s hilarious when they make crazy statements and annoy people, not all England fans are like this though, and still have the right to criticise the manager, as we’ve seen this all before a few tournaments now
Completely agree. It’s clear the FA wanted him for this tournament, so we should do our best to support him and the team throughout. Even if we don’t think he is a good manager. Those calling for him to go before the tournament are delusional. There are many more teams who have tried that strategy and failed, than it succeed.
This. He'll leave after the Euro's so the fans who want him gone need to suck it up. We'll continue not winning anything with a better manager soon enough.
@@JoseFranco9it genuinely doesn’t sound insane due to the Man City charges and he’ll want to squirm out of Man City before they get sent to league 1. Managing at international level would be a new challenge for him
This is from the same person that hates Gary ONiel. Let that sink in. Someone tipped for manager of the season and even now Irish Guy is more likely to develop an X chromosome. Joking aside Southgate has how many wins against teams in the top 10 world rankings? And I mean at the time England play them they are in the top ten. It’s not like Rice, Foden and Bellingham cost over £300m whilst Jaoa Gomes cost less than a tenth of that….
He's so confusing. This guy has simultaneously some of the largest ball knowledge I have ever seen, like he was one of the only guys that saw through Graham Potter and gave some genuinely good opinions. Seconds later he says Luton will win 4x0 against Arsenal, says if they don't win he's going to walk naked in Birmingham covered in Shepards pie or focuses in how Gary O'Neil is terrible even though he's doing great
3:40 "who cares if you lose a friendly?" Normally nobody should and I also would've said England fans are overreacting as always but England were facing a Brazil team that didn't have a lot of key players like no Allison/Ederson, Militao, Neymar this was like their best shot at beating Brazil cause this is the weakest Brazil side since sliced bread was invented, fuck most of the Brazillian players including the coach himself were making their debut in the international scene....and they still lost! How terrible do you have to be for this? I personally think Lee Carsley could be a viable England manager with everything he's doing with the English U21 squad leading them to 5 nil victories and such. Yeah yeah I know it's not like he's the next Pep Guardiola or anything but as you said, he's the best option for International level football.
Spain sacked their manager before the 2018 World Cup and Spain got knocked out by Russia in the round of 16 and Spain even struggled against teams like Morocco and Iran in the group
@@Edward_prada bro Spain were one of the favorites if they didn’t sack lopetegui before the World Cup and if you look at the rest of Spain squad currently if Spain have someone like kane as their striker Spain would have one of the best squads in the euros this summer
Its always gonna be hilarious watching england prove the definition of insanity. Every 2 years, we hear them chirping that they're favorites to win the tournament, getting confused why nobody's listening. Pro tip England, its cuz we all know you won't win. There's a reason you haven't won something since Sean Connery was a young upcoming actor😂
The players are simply not nearly as good as the media makes them out to be. Bellingham Kane and Foden are the ones with real quality. For the others, other countries have very comparable players
@@TheSt1092 no it’s a way to be realistic about English delusion. England has always “disappointed” in the international stage compared to how “good” their players are no matter the manager. This is simply because they overrate their players. No one from any other country considers England as good as they think they are
@@TheSt1092 right always the manager and not the players. Have you considered that maybe u just are not that good? How come ur players have been “let down” for ur entire history by their manager only ever making it to 2 finals one of them being with southgate. I think ur country just isn’t as good at football as English people think
A Brazilian national team that is rebuilding and without its main man... it was so funny, we even made fun of the people who doubt we would even draw with England
Best striker in the world, best player in la liga, arguably the best midfielder right now in the premier league, it is very reasonable to suggest we could win it despite Southgate.
You could not and will not win the Euros. It is not reasonable at all, you are the most delusional fan base in the world, your squad is not that good. Your Arrogance and Delusion as a fanbase keep you believing this.
Lol if they did sack Southgate after the euros then the guy who england fans wanted in comes in and absolutely flops... england fans would be blaming him, the FA and everyone else. Most football fans just parrot the prevailing narrative then take no responsibility when they're found to be wrong
Apart from the goal in the Euros final we didnt have a single shot on target in 120mins at Wembley. That is a unrepentant failure. Not in result but in performance. Any manager worth anything would have tried something to win that match. We come up against a team that can hit as hard as us we lose.
Look the thing with Southgate is that he has the team best team cohesion between the English players we’ve seen for decades and it has brought us closer to trophies but there needs to be a tactical change I agree but we need to remember this is the manager who got us to the World Cup semi final and the final of euros which we were meat minutes away from winning
I cant help but point out this when talking about how good the team is compared to the England team back then. what matters is how good the teams is compared to the other teams at that moment. the English team rn compared to the other teams in the world is in a much better place than the 2008 English team and Southgate's tactics are visibly shocking. we lose whenever we play a decent team, like the 2018 World Cup, and people didnt complain back then because they were blind to the fact we played terrible teams. and we lost the euros final cuz he started to pack the bus after the first goal. England fans aren't overreacting Southgate is horrible
@@TaxEvader22 Ah yes, a Nations League game in which the England players were already on the beach at the end of a long season. The same Hungary team they beat 0-3 in Budapest a year or two before that.
If he can't at least get this team to a 2nd Final in a row, Southgate's gonna get cooked by the England fans really bad. Then again, it's England so...
As an England fan, I don’t rate Southgate loads but I am soo fed up of all the nonsense, hate and hypocrisy RU-vidrs have been ranting on about for the last six years or so… thank you for highlighting these RU-vid stupid hypocrites IrishGuy!
An Irishman lecturing the English about football mindset on the elite level is like a 25 stone bloke giving a 15 stone bloke a few dietary tips. This "oh it's only a friendly" nonsense is exactly why we're a bunch of fucking losers. It isn't just an exhibition match, it's about trying to find out something new, find out about new players/combinations. After the Brazil game we learned absolutely nothing new.
The sad thing is that after Southgate, if they failed to convince Mourinho, the next manager might as well be Graham Potter. You know, a guy who is so broken after weekly abuse by Chelsea fans now has to manage the nation with even more pressure by both their fans and media.
As a Scotland football fan Im just happy that my nation have qualified for the Tournament. I know we will finish Rock bottom of our Group though. An opening game 2:1 loss to Germany, A dismal 0:0 draw with Switzerland followed by a 2:0 defeat to Hungary. And I aldo know England wont win the Euros.
Best we can hope for is a draw v germany. And a win v Hungary and Switzerland. I think the swiss are actually the only team we've ever beat in the euros
That result is 'football heritage'. No matter what, Brasil finds a way to entertain and get the job done. No matter what, England find a way to bottle it (regardless of how good their squad is).
The only reason I am Southgate out is due to his tactical acumen. He has done a lot for the game as a whole. And he has built a better culture within the camp that makes players want to play for the national team (bar whatever the story is with Ben White) but I just think based on the quality of players we have, only France are probably better. And that's it. So we should be getting to finals. And at some point, we need to win one, because it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.
The funny thing is, EFL fans moan about how big 6 fans moan about underperforming, claiming it can't compare to the struggles of someone like Reading. Fair enough i guess. However, those same fans moan about making it far in every international competition when countries like mine, Ireland, dream of reaching a World Cup once in the lifetime of the fans. But yeah, i suppose the struggle of watching Jordan Henderson start is better than losing to Luxembourg. Talk about double standards
Southgate would have lifted the Euro Trophy if Grealish and Sterling hadn't gotten spooked by Donnarumma. Southgate had no choice but to send children to do men's work.
@@MixzoidIt is funny you say that JM is a defensive coach when his teams have always had some of the highest goals in the league, including the highest goals in any league, ever in a 38 game season (Madrid 11) , while also holding the record of lowest goals conceded ever in a league of 38 matches (Chelsea 05) . JM is possibly the most balanced manager. He shifts his strategy depending on his team and the opposition. That is pragmatism. If he walks into England, he will win everything there is. I repeat, EVERYTHING. Put some respect into the name of one of the greatest ever!
@@Mixzoidand attacking football does not work in international game. Spain were not an attacking team, they scrapped through games 1-0 most times. Germany, the same as well. Odd matches don't change the truth. This is a very reductive view of football, you seem to possess.
I know he had the highest scoring season, but he’s been back stabbed by 2 English clubs and when you have players like harry kane, he can get you goals, but he’ll score more from an attacking enthiasy
Those who want Potter/a tactical manager need to realise there’s a big difference between signing your own players and spending a preseason implementing a system verse international management where you draft the best players in the country and shoehorn them in the team and have a couple of weeks of training.
You know coloured TV existed in 1966 right? RIGHT? That Batman 1966 TV series was in colour, trust me, I've watched it as a kid and rewatched it as an adult. I wouldn't have bothered if it was black and white. the only black and white thing I watch is "Dinner for one" every new years eve
Wait... Didn't the Irish guy say international managers are mediocre or past it? And then said about Jose doing the job? Is he finally admitting he's past it? 😂
It will be a boring tournament for the English fans. *They'll not dominate any match. * top the group by winning with small margins * get knockout in the quarter final
I am English and believe me, England will NOT win anything under wet drip Southgate, I said this when he got the job, I have said it after each qualification to a major tournament and even said it in the Euro Final against Italy, Southgate has no idea how to play attacking football
I’m in the Southgate out camp but do believe it’s unfair on a new manager to Chuck him in right at the start of an international tournament, so yeah we probably won’t win but let Southgate have this one then bring in a new coach with 2 years to prepare for World Cup 26
Im seeing england fans complain about consistently doing well in tournaments. While my countries manager is consistently failing with a golden generation. And failing to get to tournaments when we have 2 prem superstars. Solbakken ut før faen!
How about he not cut mark's clip short for a cheap punch. Mark clearly said we will win in spite of Southgate as we will rely on individual moments of brilliance. Disingenuous point there and taking the comment out of context.
Entitlement? We just want an England manager that plays good football if we're not going to win anything. Before we won nothing and played good football, now we don't even play good football.
It’s not just about how good the England team is, it’s about the lower level of the other teams, the only country with a squad as good as England’s is france
Irish Guy, Southgate is going to hand Declan Rice the England Captaincy against Belgium tomorrow. I expect a "Southgate Is A Disgrace" video by Wednesday 😂
Not worth taking the result against Brazil too seriously. The players are likely more focused on finishing the club seasons before the summer. Both nations are experimenting, us with new callups and Brazil with a new generation of talent. Let's just calm our collective balls and let the players focus 👍
Irish guy. I think you are missing the point. Most Southgate out fans would point to the fact that since Southgate took charge in 2016. England have beaten teams in the top 10 only 6 times in 27 matches. That’s not good enough if you want to compete with (media tells us this expectation and secretly, so do rival fans) and win major tournaments. Losing to Brazil just reminded them that while the team has great players on paper they rarely come together to beat a top team (it’s a thing they share with the ‘Golden Generation’). I personally think it’s counterproductive to be negative right now. It won’t get him out and at worst it would disrupt the England camp.
Fun fact to England fans who want Klopp, Conte etc: No foreign manager has ever won the world cup and only 1 has ever won the Euros - Otto Rehhagel with Greece in 2004. This isn't a a coincidence
@@orientof no iam not iam saying Irish gut mustn't complain about Ireland's poor performances in Friendly's if he is going to tell England fans they shouldn't .
It's a matter of context - With this squad anything less than reaching the Semi-Finals this summer is abject failure just as it was abject failure in 02, 04, 06, 08, 10 and heck let's add in 12, 14 and 16 there too! And the first team might have been stronger then but the squads certainly weren't! - Southgate's been lucky both in following on from Hodgson's horror show in 2016 and Allardyce's defenestration by the English Press/Media. He's also had an actual assembly line of brilliant young English players coming through. France aren't as good today as they were two years ago, Neither are Belgium, Italy aren't great, neither are Germany or Spain, Portugal have an assembly line of youngsters but a bad manager and an ageing CR7, Croatia have been supposedly ageing for the last decade but they're down to the bare bones now. - This year is the best chance England have had to actually win a tournament since 2004 and Southgate's going to mess it up! - He's too cautious in his attacking play and England went full defense mode after going 1-0 up against Italy early! - England are defensively unsound under Southgate against any team that actually comes at us......Brazil probably should have had 3 the other night, we were lucky it was only 1-0; and don't say "it was Brazil" this is the weakest Brazilian team in my lifetime! France were able to score against us with ease whenever they actually needed to and went up a gear! - His substitutions don't work! - He's more interested in virtue-signalling than winning!
We have one of the best squads in the world, I don’t think it’s weird to expect these player to win something despite the shite management. Of course an Ireland fan wouldn’t understand 😂
Saying “We’ll win it despite Southgate” is hedging one’s bets. These people are all-in on Southgate bashing and are unable to pivot if England succeed, so if we win it or not they can say “I told you so!” regardless. But it’s also nonsense on its own terms. Come up against any tactically astute team and even a team of galacticos can lose. This isn’t FIFA.
Although I’d like to agree We cannot waste the batch of talent we have coming through now, it so rare for us to get things right. Southgate just has no brand of football, picks his favourites and doesn’t give players who deserve a chance a chance. The likes of ward prowse and tomori being not even selected for the likes of Jordan henderson and Maguire. It’s ludicrous. I just want a proper manager or coach who has a positive brand of football to take over this team and see what it’s real potential is. U just don’t waste once in a generation players like Jude, Foden, rice, Kane and even upcoming ones like Kobbie. We have to get it right for once, yes it’s arrogance but we never win anything for a good reason.
It's too late to sack him, that's the issue And the truth is, there are barely any managers available that would do that much better It's unfortunate, but best case scenario is sacking him after the Euro's and try to get Mou
@@gabsnandes7818 I know it sounds bad but I reckon grahem potter won’t be a bad shout. A good possession based football would suit our players along with the fact that international football is slower than the pl it could really suit him. But Yh I agree with you it’s prob too late to even change now.
People are definitely overreacting after this friendly. I’m not exactly a fan of Southgate’s play style but everyone seems to be ignoring how many key England players weren’t playing. It was an opportunity to give upcoming players minutes, we’re clearly not going to have the same starting XI for the euros
Going after the coach is low hanging fruit. Surprised they didnt blame Southgate for Kanes missed pen vs France. To say they have no chance of winning the Euros with him while they could have beaten France in the quarters is just mad to me.
Bro, what are you waffling 😂 southgate is horrible, just because you don't have standards, doesn't mean english fans shouldn't. Oh and where is Irelands football team?😂😂😂
Say what you want about the golden generation from 20 years ago, this current 23 man squad shits all over it by a country mile. It’s not even close really I mean look at the bench in 2002/2006 compared to now. Then look at the weaknesses of virtually every other European nation bar france and yes we should be winning this euros. That’s without even mentioning most of us wanted Southgate gone after the World Cup In Qatar and the fa kept him on despite having failed 3 times at major tournaments. That game against Italy at the last euros was a managerial schooling by Mancini, we were lucky it even went to penalties because we got battered in our own ground for 3 halves by Italy. Why? Because of Southgates inability to change a game, had 5 subs available and didn’t make a change until the 85th minute after getting battered for 40 straight mins at Wembley. The chiefs at the fa should resign if we don’t win, how can they be trusted to appoint the next manager? Another thing I can’t get my head around is the stubbornness of some English people that the national team coach must be English, it’s like half the country doesn’t realise the only English manager since Redknapp in 08 to win a major trophy is gerrard in the SPFL, that’s 16 years people. English managers simply aren’t up to par with their European counterparts. Brazil want ancelotti, he’s not Brazilian but they don’t care because they only care about winning. Weigman isn’t English and she won England the woman’s euros, whilst she’s not the answer surely we need to be looking at top foreign coaches ie tuchel for the England job. Not washed up managers 20 past it like sven and capello were when they managed England
one of the best and most complete pools of players in world football, and we should be ok with mediocrity bc southgate has been underachieving for over 5 years...
Let's see you change your opinion if he was suddenly linked to the club you support... then you'd acknowledge he's an awful manager who plays for a 1-0 win in every single game.
He repeatadly has said southgate is a trash manager he just said that it is too late to get rid of him now and he is right, look at what happened to spain in the 2018 world cup.
