The M65 from Teesar Mil-Tec is in the same price segment and has all the features of the original M65 jacket. The color corresponds to the M65 from the late 1960s. By the way, love all your presentation . very informative. The extra holes in the liner are to close the liner if you wear it separately. Best regards from Germany.
@@TeurastajaNexus How is it holding up for you now? I'm currently shopping around for an M65 jacketand I can't find any USGI ones for a reasonable price in my size
@@DylanHutto Two buttons have broken loose but they can be easily put back. The material is water resistant. Overall good quality and they are manufactured by Mil-tec in Germany. Santa brought me one from an airsoft shop for about 70-80€ ;)
@@DylanHutto Note, the manufacturer is Mil-tec. Teesar is one of two brands, the other one being named Mil-tec. Teesar is considered to be better quality overall. One notable difference between the M65 of these brands is the material.
Good video, Mr. Nick, I 've one a Rothco M-65, is great and I love her very much, she is my favorite. In my country there are not seasons and no snow. It's a regret that the work cloth it's not against the rain but I recommend it 100%. Regards from Bogotá Colombia.
Hey man, I just found your channel the other day & I probably watched this vid 3 or four times since! lol I"m a huge fan of these M-65 field jackets, both genuine issue & Rothco...Rothco was the very first jacket that I owned for the M-65 field jacket...I loved it!, it kelp me nice & warm when it got around -10 degrees here in Potsdam Ny...few small things I like about Rothco's version rather than the genuine issue was the drawstrings were longers so I could make a nice tight Knot & there's just something about the liners I like about Rothco...I made the mistake of accidentally ordering it one size larger & decided to gave it to one of my co-workers...I always wanted to get another Rothco M-65 but brand new ones are selling for over $88.99 & I can find genuine issue field jackets in fine condition for half that price
to be honest, I think the olive drab is a lot more versatile for general wear then the tiger stripe. you can just wear it as a regular coat without looking too “tactical”.
I have a Rothco 'OD' jacket that seems to be more green than your example. It's been one of my main winter work jackets for many years and it has held up very nicely. After several washings on normal cycle, it has become very soft and comfortable. Down here in Alabama, I've only rarely needed the liner! I also have a woodland USGI M65, for my CAP uniform back in the 2000s!
In the 80's we all tried to find the model 51 field jackets. They would take a good starching far better than the Model 65. They really looked STRAC!!!. If you can find one get it starched and you will see.
i think the first generation of the m65 actually had aluminium hardware, then they switched to brass, and then the zippers were changed to plastic (apparently because the brass zips could get frozen stuck if water entered them)
i love these jackets. this popped up in the related videos when i was watching my new vid. i did a rambo video i did last week in the mountains where i live on a volcano. hello from mt hood. i have 2 of the jackets and wear them in survival videos i do etc. peace.
just bought a Rothco M-65 jacket today. If you compare the interior hoods on the Rothco the're so much smaller than the original and they're pointy. i am super disappointed. Blackie is the reason i got one and now i need an original.
@@collectornick4270 just realized also theres no lining under the removable lining. On the vintage ones theres an extra piece of fabric between the shell and the removable lining :( i wish i didnt buy the rothco but its better than nothing
@@user-jm7se9cf3u It's there, but the difference is that the liner in the Rothco is stitched to the bottom rather than hanging open as with the USGI coats.
@@TheBurro36 the extreme cold weather hood as he pointed out only fits on the original m65 jacket not the Rothko. I only point out what he failed to do, all m65 jackets including Rothko have hoods inside of the collar I know because I have both.
That's true, I forgot to film that part. I have it saved somewhere on my camera but that built in hood is even more garbage then the USGI one, which is kinda surprising considering how bad the real ones are lol
@@collectornick4270 Yeah, Nick. They are junk, useless, really. And once you roll them out seems like it's very hard getting them back in and smoothing the collar back into its original shape.
There are some Rothco Made in the USA that are tagged rn37572 but do not state Rothco . They are 50/50 Cotton/Poly and are better than the made in China 65/35 Cotton/Poly that Propper and others like Fox etc are using. The do not have the shell sewn to the inner liner and are made by a mix if diffrerent vendors or Contractors and I think Rothco OEM'd them or bought out the stocks and tagged them. The zippers are always brass.
It's very sad to see that the U.S. has almost completely sold out to China, even with the clothes that we are forced to buy. It's almost over. I need a 2XL Tall and Rothco doesn't even make one, these Chinese Mfg. outfits are a joke.
YOO! wuuuhhh my grandpa was about to go to vietnam but got out cause my grandma was pregnant with my dad and uncle and i literally wore his m65 a while back for backyard paintball and this is the same one on the alpha industries site for $225.00 i still have it but its beat the fuck up i wonder if its worth anything....
What are you talking about, the hood is inside the collar, un-zip and pull it out. The end of the sleeve un-folds and pulls out to go over gloves, not bare hands.
I bought one of these and I knew for a fact that it had a zipper when I bought it because I zipped it up and then when I got home I realized that I didn’t have the zipper anymore so I don’t know where the fuck I lost it I looked in my car and I still couldn’t find it so now I have an M 65 with no zipper
anyone know a place to buy this jacket. besides rothco, m65, . for cheap. i found one priced at $225 and one priced at $59. and made in China. Looking for good quality for around $100. a real army & navy store, without a huge markup.
If you still need advice on a commercial one, just get the Rothco or similarly cheap one. The Alpha ones are just overpriced fashion items. They don't produce them to the standards they did for the US military but charge ridiculous prices. Just make sure the seams, snaps, and zipper is gtg.
Go to an Army Navy store. If not eBay sells them. If not McGuirearmynavy.com sells them. You want Golden manufacturer, Alpha Industries, Winfield manufacturing. Those r the legit ones. Golden especially
@@KissMyConverseFool I like the 90s Austrian army versions (one gortex version and one or two cotton versions I think), and you can sometimes find it available in XL or XXL for under $100. It might also be helpful to search for M65s (USGI or otherwise) using the NATO size codes so you can find one long enough. Maybe look for the three color desert version of the M65 too, that's a cool one to have if you can find it on Ebay or similar sites. I agree with Billy, Rothco might make a few legitimate NSN items for the US Army (at least in recent history) but they also make a lot of junk that's borderline counterfeit. Also they've actually bragged about expanding their industrial ties to China, which seems like about as bad of a move as bragging about being popular in Germany in 1939, or talking about how excited you are to go to the 1980 Olympics.
What's the use of those small chest pockets on Rothco junk? For cigarettes, maybe or mobile phone? :D Genuine G.I. M65 field jackets rules, Rothco is a joke.
You’re more knowledgeable on this stuff I bought a hot combat uniform 100% cotton ripstop With straight pockets but it’s OG107 green it’s looks exactly like the Vietnam tropical jacket with slanted pockets except the pockets on mine are straight it is the same pattern as the M81 woodland BDUs that were being issued in the 80s but it’s OG107 I can’t find any information on it online so I was hoping you could shed some light on what I have
Collector Nick are you sure? The channel uniform history has a video about erdl and at about the 12:49 mark it shows a guy wearing the uniform I’m talking about
