I know that Klim stuff is expensive, but after you wear it, you will totally understand why. There is nothing that even comes close! Not to mention the warranty. I had a pair of bibs that a had small seam coming unstitched after EIGHT years (still completely waterproof) and the sent me a brand new pair of the current model. Also when it comes to airbags...I know they are expensive too, but even if you have to step down a sled model to be able to afford it...DO IT, hey are the most important item on any backcountry riders list (yes even more important than the engine in your sled lol) Trust me you don’t want to go through losing a good friend to a slide. Happened to me two weeks ago. No they are not a fail safe, but they GREATLY improve your chances, I do know from personal experience. One of those weird things you pay a lot of money for, yet never hope to use it. I know it saved my life along with several others I know personally. Thanks for sharing and be safe fellow backcountry addicts!

snowboarding gear would be about half the price and pretty damn good. make sure you get goretex. you'd want sledding specific gloves from klim or similar company
@galehess6676
@galehess6676 2 года назад
on a budget, ski gore tex gear or snowboard for looser fit, or find some EMS gore tex bibs used on fb market or ebay, ~$50 for a shell for lower half, can stud boots, run what you brung with 3/8" kold kutters, now instantly have traction on any boot, hot hands last a few hours, now any boot is semi serviceable , and so on, don't need anything specialized except a lid, get the heated visor xcastle or whatever, wool layers or UA, and good to go in the snow.

Awesome video Dan! Couple things, that I thought of: Do you run a balaclava? If so which one or is that a ride by ride decision? What are your thoughts on neck braces? I will be wearing one this year but wanted to get your opinion on them. Could you do a video break down on your action cameras? Like which you prefer, GoPro, Rylo...etc? Which models do you use? Tips and tricks for use in the backcountry? Mounting locations? My buddies and I have been struggling to try to find one that won't freeze up, in the cold but still record great videos and isn't super heavy. Any help or insight would help immensely!!!! Thanks, Dan and team NXT LVL! Much love!

Hi Dan, I have been rocking the Keweenaw Jack and bibs for several years. It’s time for me to get a new top and bottom. I am going back and forth with getting another Keweenaw setup or going with the Valdez jacket and Togwotee bib combination. All my riding is in Northern Wisconsin, Minnesota, and the UP of Michigan with roughly 85% being trail riding and about 15% being backcountry/powder. What are you thoughts between which pieces would be the best fit? All suggestions welcome. Thanks and happy 2023!!!

Like your vids, and thank you for them. With that, sounds like a Klim advertisement. Their stuff is good, but way overpriced, and most moto riders think so as none of my friends use it for that reason. It's just stuff that gets trashed anyways. Gortex is good and all, but so are most of the other membrane brands, and it boils down to the dwr anyway. My buddy bought a $600 Klim adv helmet and it broke the first ride. He was jealous of my Euro brand equivelent that cost half. Anyway, just not into the overpriced brands selling the lifestyle. Plenty of killer gear out there, and I like to mix and match depending on the piece.

I wish I was sponsored by Klim, until them, their stuff is a bit out of my reach. Your ensemble is in the neighborhood of 5 or 6 grand, and maybe more. I agree, if you are a professional, you should buy quality gear. And when it comes to safety, that's where I spare no expense. But I spent less than 100 on a snowsuit, and it's great. I'd sure love to be sponsored buy Klim though.

So I’ve been looking at for example the powerxross Gloves. What are your thoughts on the gauntlet versus a short cuff? I would think for keeping the wind and snow out the gauntlet would be a no brainer but it seems that most people are running a short cuff. Is there a stigma against it or some benefit for the short?
@Icutmetal
@Icutmetal 2 года назад
I bought a pair of the PowerXross short cuff gloves last season and don’t care for them. The glove portion itself fits great, and they’re top shelf quality. What I don’t like is the tightness of the cuff- they’re not very easy to put on quickly. I’ve got SkiDoo Grip gloves that are short cuffs and work much better for me, but I prefer gauntlet gloves overall.

@@dwalters31 Once you get a vest and get used to wearing it, it won’t feel natural to ride without one. Mine has saved me from pain a few times now. I’m an amateur at best but will echo what Dan said; there are times where I’ll wear one of my thicker base layers and just a vest under my Storm shell and it’s perfect.
