by far the worst part of this is the implication that the "long pig" they were serving was probably the previous year's Thanksgiving guest, like assuming this is the main event they use to lure people, like at least serve *fresh* human meat! Unless maybe they fatten the person in their basement for a year like an ortolan or a Roman dormouse...

As soon as I heard mystery meat I knew it was gonna be a cannibal story. I'm not sure how but I think they could have threw in a twist at the end to make it less cliché but simple works.

This reminded me of a story my dad once told me when I was little about two friends. The other inviting the other one home for the holidays. Unbeknownst to the other, the friend who invited her comes from a family of "aswangs" - in the Filipino language it losely translates to humns transforming into monsters / creatures of the night to feast on other human beings. Had slightly different ending though, since the family ended up eating their own flesh and blood due to a case of mistaken identity. My dad said it was the Tale of Tiñente Gimo or something. One of the many folk / horror stories in the Philippines. I think there was even a movie made of it, but I didn't get the chance to watch it.

I would listen to that as well over the multitude of wendigo and skinwalker stories everywhere. I look into them myself but it’s not the same. It sounds really interesting. I’d rather hear it than watch the movie since they usually butcher a really good story.

Yeah, a lot of characters would have wasted time and energy trying to “rationalize” it all away (even after hearing in on that bizarre conversation) but she had her priorities straight. She honestly never annoyed me once which is very rare for a creepy-pasta protagonist 😊

Exactly. I would only put one up there if the fireplace was blocked off and the mantle was only there for decoration. I have lived in two homes with blocked off fireplaces but I really loved the look of the mantles. Really hope my next home has one

In the first 5 minutes and already wincing for this person. I don't know what's about to happen, but there's the "awkward person without family" thing I know by now of if they invite you to go to dinner with their family for Thanksgiving or even Christmas, you don't go. It's just going to be an avalanche of awkward where they do family stuff while trying desperately not to ask about your family because they know if you're with them it's probably not good.

Love the story the only thing that bugged me was the car with push to start. When I got my SUV that has push to start I forgot my keys one they were just on the other side of a wall. Well within rang but because it wasn't in the vehicle it say key fob missing. Also I read into it more after that and turns out if the key fob is out of the vehicle for so long think 15 minutes the car can stall.

After my grandpa passed away holidays got fewer and the family became practically non existent before they were what I looked up to all year me and my cousins would bring the best grass to brag and get baked I'd always bring a new girlfriend who if get sloppy toppy from in the bathroom grandpa would open the gun cabinet and show off his rifles and shotguns and teach the younger kids a quick hunter safety course no shoes allowed and someone would always get the fury of grandma for walking in and getting chokeberrie on the rug. Then the newcomer to the family mist likely one of our girlfriends would have to say grace or the most baked gramps would have a Korean war flashback story and scare the living shit out of us with that scary eye twitching stare that we would be 2 baked to handle we would shoot pool in the basement Wich was the cool fam zone next to a huge cork top bottle collection....sorry guys I just miss it I miss them after gramps my cousin bae overdosed and she was lite up the room and always mad us smile and when coronavirus came out grandma had a official reason to cancel all holiday get togethers

I could not figure it out why I don’t like to listen to the stories, the person talks to fast. He is trying to slow down but sounds like he is in a hurry and telling a story to friends while running out the door. Actually feel the story, talk to us, really feel your words. There is a difference in speaking the words and putting yourself into the story. I always give a thumbs up because I am sure they are good stories but I can’t listen to them because I need to see them through the words.
