@@Agustin_Leal remember, this is a RPG Maker game. if it was made using other engines like unity or godot, i would agree with you. but this was made using RPG Maker, and that's impressive.
if you want to do something like this, don't go with rpgmaker. I don't know what witchcraft is used to make this project, but it's very inconvenient and not very performant to do 3D in rpgmaker.
This is extremely impressive. The moving background in the distant reminds me of BlazBlue with its stages. Makes the game feel more alive and lived in. I can’t imagine how much time and effort it took you to achieve this with MV. You’re amazing and an inspiration for other RPG Maker devs. I wish you luck on completing your project.
Woah, it looks really awesome! But what amaze me the more is that you moved your already ongoing project from MV to MZ. I can only wonder how much hard work that was. I take off my metaphorical hat to you!
It actually is since they are using WebGL which is basically just the web version of OpenGL. So just drag and dropping in unity would be by far easier.
@@verifeli RPG Maker not designed to make these type of games. You will meet with so many obstacles with no one to ask except ur self. I know it sound cool and all (to build 3d games in RPG Maker) but you musk ask yourself first, why.
As someone who's used RPG Maker since 2003 ... (both the year, and RPGMaker 2003!) I have to say...... This is so beautiful I can cry.... Never let people tell you RPG Maker is limited in scope. *Sobs*
Same here. RPG Maker comes a long way. The only problem that remains with this is frame rate, the characterset is still limited but it's possible to use another format so let's see where this goes. 👍
I've been a HUGE advocate for RPG Maker ever since Don Miguel's RM2K demo taught me how the 'Jump' overworld animation works and I used it in the game that would get a 2-page spread in June 2006 Total Gamer magazine's 'Design-A-Game' competition. I was tearing up at this video just watching it. This being possible invokes a feeling of pure unbridled childhood joy in me that I've not felt toward game development in more than 10 years. Seeing your comment opened up the floodgates. I cried a LOT. "This is exactly the style I've been looking for to use for my slightly-interactive VN!" I thought. All that worrying about AI and racing to learn Godot when RPG Maker was here for more all along. As a fun extra I'll mention this; when I think about the story I often think about the main inspiration for it, and for the second I did I looked at your profile pic and name and a feeling ran through me as if someone I couldn't see had let out cackle in my ear. Three scrolls through your videos and I shit into a catbox. I'm amazed at the early 2000s When They Cry/RPG Maker internet pipeline popping up for the 5th time I know about... Are you a Kingdom Hearts fan at all by chance?
@@Stopaskingwhyandjustreadit You know, some time later I watched a video about a fellow who made non-rpg games on RPG Maker, he made platformers that looked like old flash games, puzzle games that were point and click; if you know the coding, you really CAN make so much off of this engine. It moved me to bloody tears. People don't seem to know just how flexible it is as an engine. I didn't even know. My scope has been widened. But, you know, on a personal level--my scope was already widened once, a long time ago. The first RPG Maker games I made were traditionally, rpgs, but then I played IB and... in the first scene, after the lights go out, before you enter the magical realm, that part where a hand knocks on the window. That part made me think; "Oh my god... that's genius! I know how to do that, but I never thought of how to do that before!" The game Ib made me see things outside the box, that RPG Maker can be used for more than just, RPGs. Hehe, Ellen is my inspiration. C: Indeed, I'm one of those super oldheads, 90s kid, rpg maker, sound horizon, visual novels, I dig all of that old stuff. Even in my adulthood, I play adult RPG Maker games. And while many are bad, I find diamonds in the rough. I never had a PS2, so my Kingdom Hearts lore is weak, sadly. But I've had many friends who were into it, so I know a bit by proxy (at least up till the GBA game)! I'd be happy to hang out all the same, friend.
rpg maker is super fun to use but it's rather limited indeed. still, working around limitations is part of the fun, and most of the best games ever had to work with much tighter restrictions.
Man, I would love to know how this actually looks in the editor. Are you even doing "normal" mapping or how exactly does this work? Looks amazing nontheless.
Absolutly good quality game, already subscribed since long time ago to know the future of this project and I can say, this project worth the waiting. 👍
how do you did this? parallax or something? im new using MZ and i want to include some scenarios like the forest scenario from FF7. Btw, this is beyond of amazing.
Honestly I've been using RPG Maker for years and I've no idea how they did this. This dev is actually insane to get this kinda work from a 2D game engine!
You want to make a PS1 Era Final Fantasy Game, you'll need to Parallax map for the backgrounds and then use a 3D plugin to make the characters 3D, also maybe some Videos for some FMV Scenes they sometimes do. To make it really good, you will also want to figure out how to Scale the Actor Sprite as well as zooming the screen in and out. It's definitely possible, but the parallax mapping will take forever and if you want the FMV scenes too, expect it to take even longer, will definitely need a team for something like this lol.
Ah, that's why it seemed a bit different from the last one. The sprites are a bit taller and more complex, and the fixed camera made the diagonal walking dissonance a bit more noticeable. I think movement speed can be upped a bit to match how fast it looks like the characters are moving
I'm super amazed at how cool this looks. I've been planning to make a smaller scale 2.5d looking game to play around with and get familiar, do you think you can share some tips?
