I tend to cut more trees than that, due to the 3rd person view you seem to always be running into the trees. Also around industries trees close to the track impair your vision to properly spot your cars where they need to load/unload.
What are your rules for cutting trees beneath steel trestles? Do you cut everything beneath the trestle, or let them grow as long as they don't poke through the railbed... I don't like high trestles either, but in a world where you are unable to build a tunnel or blast out a rock outcropping sometimes that leaves us with no choice.
