That's great! What a great adventure you'll have ahead of you! Where are you going to? Work on your language skills, it'll make a big difference in your experience. I've been blessed that my wife is Russian and has always been there to help jump over any hurdles. In turn I have always tried my best to create good life conditions for us.

@@shakanranch Spent about 18 years in Chelyabinsk and then retired to Tambov. A lot nicer weather here in Tambov. About 400 k south of Moscow, about a 7-hour train ride.

Спасибо за совет! Пока что то, что мы посадили, кажется, растет хорошо. Моя жена хорошо справляется с растениями, а я просто землекоп. Я слышал, что в Челябинске в последнее время довольно холодно. Я помню, что в некоторые годы лето там полностью заканчивается в начале августа. Провел там около 18 лет.

Hey Sam, I do speed up my walks, but actually prefer walking elsewhere so I don't have to look at my unfinished projects. In the winter I have a snowblower and keep it all clear of snow.

I don't notice any uptick in crime here personally, but I really don't know. As for house prices, just like over there it really depends on where you are located. Where I am the house is worth about $225,000. Inflation here is also not so great.

I actually have 5 children. Three sons in the US, and two daughters here in Russia. They are all my biological children. Our daughters were born here in Russia almost 19 years ago and my sons are ages 41 through 46. Throw another 7 grandchildren into the mix also. One advantage for my daughters having an American dad was that they are 100% bilingual. Have won so many language competitions while in school, they also got 100% scholarships to Moscow universities, where they are now in their 2nd year. Russian/American mixture is also a good one. They are both beautiful and very smart.

THe crew that installed my fence is the same crew that laid all of my pavers and did the foundation work for my garage. Just a local contractor, but one that takes great pride in their work. The posts for the fence are all located in concrete about one meter deep by about 50 Cm in diameter. They did a really good job of cleaning all of the metal for the posts, then two coats of very good quality metal paint. The fence has been up for 5 years now and I go around each year and touch up with good quality paint any scratches. They actually used a transit to keep everything perfectly straight.

@@americaninrussia Thank you so much for your reply! If you don't mind, I'll ask a few more (hopefully not irritating) questions. Did you find a contractor through someone you know or you chose a crew through some online service? What's the paint (brand if possible)? 3-in-1, no primer, or the crew did use primer? As far as I can see from the video, the poles of your side fence are square, right? Are those 1.5 or 2 millimeters thick?

@@hepcat93 No problem with the questions. We found the contractor via word of mouth. Our contractor who built the entire inside of our house gave us the other persons name. They used to be partners before splitting off. One specialized in inside work and the other in outside work. Both were extremely good to work with. I use a 3-1 paint for any touch up needed over the years, but initially the guy used primer then paint. I know he used a solvent to thoroughly clean the raw metal and you know how important good prep for painting is. The only metal paint he recommended using was "Hammerite". German I think. The posts are square, not sure of the wall thickness, but I do know that he didn't cut corners. He would typically buy better rather than try to save a little bit of money. Several of my earliest videos show the work he did in progress, by this I mainly mean paver work. With the pavers in any area where the car will actually drive over, under the pavers is 12 cm of reinforced concrete. He did very good work.

In my opinion, it has changed for the worst in very big ways. I love seeing family there, but the country isn't half the country I left 23 years ago. I left because of a girl, who I'm now married to. I didn't leave due to dissatisfaction. I never thought that a country, and frankly, a civilization could fall so fast and far so quickly. I hate what's happened.

Would you perhaps care making a video about? No need to go into politics. Just your observations. Maybe telling us about America of your youth? How was it like growing up for you, how the neighbours were like, culture in general and so on. You're very insightful person and Im sure you have lots to say on the matter.

That's funny. You're the first to comment on the Step Step thing. I thought it might be a little weird, but since it was a video about nothing I figured what the hell. By the way, congrats on your recent marriage. I'm happy to hear this. I don't know how I ever could have done most of the things I've done here without my wife's help. Treat her extra special, as I know you do. She will make your life so much better here and not just in the regular ways, but because she will help and does help you overcome some of the many difficult hurdles you'll encounter here.

5 лет назад мы купили участок, который был просто полем, с уже построенным домом. Внутри дом не был построен. Поэтому мы сделали внутреннюю часть дома, сами сделали ландшафтный дизайн и построили гараж. Также покрыли большую площадь брусчаткой. Я не фанат грязи, а здесь, в Черноземье, у нас бывает серьезная грязь.

У вас великолепный дом и участок. Но меня убивают эти глухие заборы! Они портят весь вид на природу. Да, я живу в России, понимаю, что здесь так принято, но это ужасно... Гораздо приятнее ставить незаметную ограду и украсить вечнозелеными кустами или деревьями. А ваше отношение к переезду мне очень нравится - все продумать, распланировать, а не ехать, как в голову взбредёт, и потом на Ютубе жаловаться, что не все пошло не так, как они хотели! Дом не построить, ВНЖ не получить - все кругом виноваты, только не они сами. Мне нужен такой разумный пенсионер, я тоже хочу дом! Я живу в Петергофе, прекрасное место, но в квартире.

You Tube isn't blocking Russians, Russia is blocking RU-vid. You Tube did take away Ad Sense from Russian based RU-vidrs. I think it is not the height of responsibility to move here with the expectations that you'll live off of RU-vid. Certainly not a choice I would have made.

@@JimmyCall RU-vid really blocks not only any monetization, but also many Russian channels with millions of subscribers, even those not connected to politics, and political "pro-Russian" ones - totally. In response, the Russian authorities "slowed down" RU-vid, without blocking it completely. The video quality has dropped significantly, and sometimes it has long pauses. Of course, you can use a VPN, but this method is not very good for video traffic, the VPN is often overloaded and chokes. This is part of a large information war and began with the blocking of Russian television and news and information resources in the West (all of them are under US sanctions) and corresponding retaliatory actions in Russia. Actually, it all began with the blocking of the Russian RT (Russia Today) and Sputnik.

@@JimmyCall Nowadays, you can't block anything. Just restrictions for the lazy. Everyone who needs to continues watching RU-vid. RU-vid's monetization shutdown is bad for bloggers, but good for viewers, since there is much less advertising - only integrations.

На самом деле, они переведены машиной. Но не Google или что-то в этом роде. Я пользуюсь хорошим платным сервисом. Сначала я действительно перевожу их на английский, который я просматриваю, строка за строкой, затем перевожу английские субтитры на русский. Я думаю, так это работает лучше.
