In today's episode, I review the leak I am having with my 2007 Saab 9-3 Convertible. I went ahead and resealed the roof with 303 Fabric Guard. I apply this silicon spray to reseal the roof and have it repel water! I hope you enjoy. Please like share, and subscribe!

Hi, had this problem with my 2005 9-3 Aero convertible - clear the drain holes down the sides of the windscreen "A" pillars using net curtain wire - for the rear drain holes look up from under the rear and thread the wire through, use Autoglym vinyl & rubber care to clean and rejuvenate all the rubber seals around the roof and for good measure doors, boot, windows and hood cover. As for the roof autoglym convertible clean & protect is very good however I struggled to get 2 coats of the protector and therefore I use Fabsil which is a waterproofer for tents and camping goods.. apply with a paint brush and work it into the seams. Repeat every 3-6 months - for best results wash the roof, when dry hoover it to remove any loose fibres and apply fabsil.. if you have any patches of moss on the roof you can use Milton sterilising tablets as this kills off moss/mould and does not harm the fabric. Looking forward to future content and thank you for all your saab content, I've learnt so much from your vids.

I found out the hard way that my '05 Aero had a bad leak in the top during a driving rainstorm, before finally getting under a covered garage until the rain stopped. I now have it covered with a plastic shower curtain over the convertable portion in addition to a car cover...I need to try the sealant, because I cannot justify the expense for another top at this time.

I have similar model but 2006 Cerulean Aero here in the UK. I have had a small leak on mine about 3 or 4 inches from the leading edge of the two front Windows with the water running down the window into the side pockets & floor. I used the Autoglym on my roof. Works okay for a while but noticed recently it needs doing again. Funny thing was I had more water come in after I had cleaned the roof, drain pipes & edges of the roof after I had cleaned it 😀. This leak stopped after a few weeks. I still get the odd drop of water appearing from behind the pods in the corner of the front Windows where the mirror adjustment is. The loose boxes under the seat seems a common problem. Both of the 93’s I have had were loose when I got them. The two screws in the frame go into two plastic tubes in the boxes case. I think they are broken off by people putting their feet on them whilst in the back seats. I have fixed mine back using a hot melt glue gun. I also use a liquid that softens the rubber on the roof especially around the joining pieces where the roof meets the screen.
@laurat1129
@laurat1129 3 года назад
So I see Autoglym recommended here, but do you recall the name of the liquid for the rubber seals?
@johnrichardson873
@johnrichardson873 3 года назад
@@laurat1129 it is Sonax Rubber Protectant spray. I sprayed it onto the rubber seals & then rubbed it in with a cloth.

I got water in my 9-5 but didn't know until the stink was unbearable. After using my drying technique(i have a video) I was eventually able to close it up and there is no lingering smell. I only lightly sprayed lysol on the pan, padding and carpet.

Preventative maintenance issue: Send the two hydraulic rams that move the deck-lid, off for a rebuild. They always fail around this age, and drip hydraulic fluid down into the trunk area. Luckily saab designed that area to prevent fluid from soaking everything, but eventually your spare tire well is gonna be a mess. The other rams seem to hold up well under very regular use up to 200k miles so far on my old 05.
@abdomination
@abdomination Год назад
well fuck me I'm wondering if my trunk flood was water now or the hydraulic fluid lol
@MassiveTrackHunter
@MassiveTrackHunter Год назад
@@abdomination it does make a mess. You have to remove all the interior trunk deco panels to clean the oil up. It runs down the front half of the rear wheelwell and some runs out on the ground in front of that tire while the rest tracks across the floor of the trunk into the spare tire bin and toward the bumper too. Saab was smart enough to have the bottom of those deco panels spaced up off the floor a bit, so it does not soak into anything other than the spare tire cover. Still a bit of a mess. lol.

So you did not mention the common leak problem that is the design flaw on all 9 3s. You did mention that there was more on the one side. I suspect the cabin filter housing is leaking water in and up under your carpet on the passenger side. 😮 Easy fix but a major cleanup😮😮

Use Autoglymn roof cleaning and sealing products for roof and vinyl cleaner for all rubbers - mines a metallic lime and Car Hoodware UK sourced a green Mohair roof from USA and fitted by Auto trim in Manchester - not a good idea to use canvas silicone type fluids as makes roof go stiff and strains rams

I don't think it makes sense to pull the seats every time a leak is discovered. It's just risking unnecessary damage each time... not to mention the time wasted. See my recommendations below that worked for me. 1) Vacuum out the water a few times, till no more water is being picked up, This applies to all footwell areas. 2) Use dry towels to pull out any remaining moisture from carpet. 3) If suspecting the front footwells are still damp, lift edge of carpet working from door moldings and push towels under these areas for additional moisture removal. 4) Set up an electric heater with blower fan on high and use to dry out any remaining dampness while these areas have the carpet raised. You can also use a shop vac to blow dry air under the lifted carpet in front and let run for an hour per side. This will help with final drying and dehumidification. 5) Let car dry in sun to dehumidify interior with windows open / top down. Mold will grow in a damp and warm environment. Keeping well ventilated is key to stopping it. This worked for me when I had a sunroof drain not working. Been resolved 6 years ago, and never found sign of mold while cleaning. I live on the wet coast, so mold is often an issue in stored boats or poorly ventilated cars when not driven and parked outside. SAAB on.....😃

A new roof will be the best solution. In Poland, I saw how they sewed a new roof for the Saab 900👍. It looks like the original one from the factory. I didn't expect you to have such problems with the leaking roofs of the 9-3 Convertible. It is a rarity for us in such a beautiful convertible. 😢 I wish you a good repair.👍😊

Road trip to Vegas! Leave the top down while in the Casino! Drive home in the Ferrari you bought with your winnings! ... If somehow you lose the at least the SAAB will be dried out. Don't get the 303 on your windows! My 91 rag took several heavy applications.

Check cabin panel filter housing seal Normally disintegrate and let water in behind heater motor. Also carpets are pre formed in sponge about an inch deep And what you can see on top is only a fraction of what's underneath. Check out cyclone did he does a how to. Great videos.... Subscribed and look forward to each new one.

Hey Kyle my 2003 SE Convertible had a leaking hydraulic lin just like yours when I bought it. I replacd the bad line and refilled the reservoir with Pentosin and the top worked okay for a few months but would occasionally fail to complete the whole opening cycle. It stopped running due to what I suspect to be a bad fuel pump and while it sat waiting for the new pump and filter I decided to see if the top was till functional. Well, now the hard cover/ hatch door that is usually the fist part to move is now stuck shut. I can hear parts moving but cannot figure out how to get it open so I can check for more cracked hydraulic line, low fluid, etc. Any ideas??

hi I am UK based and have a 2004 9-3 Aero Convertible and just recently experienced the exact same issue with leaking roof, water soaked leather seats and foot well carpets. The weather here has been so bad that I have not had an opportunity to apply sealer to the canvas roof as I need a good dry day to apply it and they have been far and few between. But I now have my vert under a heavy duty car cover. I will also need to strip out all the seats, carpets etc to ensure no water has been trapped underneath and prevent future mould and rust issues. Hence really keen to see how you progress. Thanks and good luck with your vert!

Been there. The only way to dry those carpets is to lift them out with the saturated 2" foam layer that is underneath. surface vacuuming doesn't touch the lake that is hiding under the surface it'll wind up stinking of mildew if you close the car up like and park in it'll turn into a mold fest. good luck.

That’s the wiring harness connector plug that’s under your passenger seat. If you are having airbag or passenger presence warning lights then one of the connections to a sensor may be unplugged or broken. I’m replacing mine because the previous owner broke the sensor plug for the airbag system. The harness is specific to your SAAB 9.3 CV and will have a tag with a part number. Use that to find a replacement if you need one.

How much to get the problem diagnosed and fixed? I love the car, it's in great condition. I didn't expect there to be so many possibilities as to why it doesn't work. Thanks.
