@summer Aku I have been looking for Dr Balogun for awhile now I grew knowing him his two daughters and I were like sisters and brother and we had memorable times . Dr took me the arts theatre to see a film then I think it was called black orpheus. Dr was and still a very remarkable man . He used to stay in Isaac John I was he neighbour. All the films he produced in the 70s and 80s were classics. Kindly send my regards to him . Such modest and humble man
Even at 79 he is still very sound and doesn't look his age. I love listening to tales from the elders, it humbles you. The ending was so touching, he still seeing that homeless guy in the faces of the less privilege. His life experiences led him to be an empath.
So deep.. so emotional story. Seeing this grandpa cried makes me have a rethink and another perspective to life. Still looking for the homeless guy to give him his money, the homeless guy is an angel in disguise. Let us be compassionate and show love towards one another, this you cannot see amongst the rich towards the poor.
This man is a well known film producer. Channel tv has interviewed him several times. He has fantastic stories to tell. It’s a pleasure listening to his wealth of experiences
Dr. Balogun is a brilliant man! I could listen to papa Balogun the whole day. Love from Kenya 🇰🇪🇰🇪. Tell him we appreciate him so much and wish him a long and happy life 💗
I have never seen someone sooo humble like him. From a rich home yet humble. Watching him cry got me summer. Please tell Baba we your fans love and appreciate him for opening up about his life. Summer I watched from a big screen TV to get all the gist. Thank you summer ❤
Who's cutting onions here😢, oh seeing those tears dripping down from his eyes got me so emotional😭. He's such a fun nd humble guy with a heart of gratitude~ Tell him we 🫶🏽 him Nne!!
Woooooow. A living legend with a heart of gold. This man is a hero. His head and heart are in sync. Such intelligence and brilliance with a heart that is content.Thank you for living the life you have lived with simplicity and showing us the younger generation what it means to be human.
His story is very similar to my Dad's story. My Dad is 74. I love colonial stories. Somehow, you will get your way through life in a positive way, and our parents were very smart back in the days.
Summer i saw a picture of this your guest with my late uncle the popular John Chukwu ( JC) in the pictires shown in this interview. Your guest is a smart yong at heart elder. Brilliant interview very impressed listening to his narratives.
Wow, great and nice story, pure and natural, kudos for this interview, let Baba Balogun know that the man that shared the dirty bread with him was his guardian angel. The man is still with him as an angel guiding him and spurning him on to be humble and to do likewise in giving. God bless and keep you in good health.
I have never commented on this page before.i must say that i thoroughly enjoyed your interview with this young old man,he is one of a kind.please bring the 3rd part asap.weldone Summer.
Wow Baba has stories for days. I am so touched by the story of the homelessness and the other homeless man who gave him out of his “poverty”. I love listening to old people with so much wisdom ❤ I can’t wait for part 3 Thank you Summer for sharing This is a blessing
This is one of the best stories I have ever heard, you are very fortunate to meet this great man. That man may have been an angel or Christ himself having a communion with you that is why you have not seen him again.
As a young person who had a middle class exposure in Ibadan, i followed Dr. Ola Balogun's literal strides. Another was Dr. Ola Rotimi who also brought a new scholarly impression to Arts in Nigeria of the 70s. Balogun, especially, used sarcasm to criticize the military government of Gowon. Now i understand how the circumstances of his birth influenced his unusual broad perspective on life many still remember.
Thank you for enlightening us, about the missionaries who assisted so many people in Nigeria, it was a service which changed so many lives. It was never about money like the present churches which are only after money which is the main reason why they open up churches. They were professional people, who gave service to the people. I am also a product of such service. The best education and moral values we received from them. Fortunately my parents also are recipients of that type of education. All the way from South Africa.
Very rewarding and emotional watching the renown film director Ola Balogun. I think to the best of my knowledge no one has presented this side of the great man as Summer is doing now. We look forward for the third part.
Summer, do you know that this interview made yesterday the happiest, please can we have part 3 to 10, we need this young man. Tell Baba that we love him so much.
That is why I always tell people you didn't no tomorrow A poor man today can become rich please let respect people around us his still looking for the man 👍
This man is a great film producer; I remember his production on Nigerian Airforce entitled Iron Eagles; a master piece ,I will pay anything to watch again.
Wowwwww what a beautiful story, it is good to remember where you are coming from. This man is very humble and God will continue to bless him and give him long life. I cried with him, I felt him. He is very grateful, God bless him🙏🏽❤️
Well done Summer, this interview made me subscribe. A great film producer, never realised he was an Igbo man until this interview because I only knew him as Ola Balogun. Thoroughly polished man and down to earth and I'm so glad you decided to interview him.
This is so touching, humbling, tearful listening to his story. All i see is humanity personified,a man truly helped by God. God is indeed alive.Sir we love you and appreciate you, Summer ,meeting this man is divinely orchestrated. I have a mind reset from this interview. Thanks Summer
I had tears 😢 in my eyes towards the end of this interview session with Dr. Balogun. Summer, you've got fantastic interviewing skills 👏🏼 Thank you so much for giving Dr. Balogun the stage to share his powerful life story 😘
Summer, I love this man already. Very unassuming and honest. I am sure he has a lot of great stories to share about Naija! Naija was sweet during our times back in the 80s (perhaps sweeter during his time). We moved from the US to Naija in the late 70s. I japada back to US in '89
Oooh my God!!! I feel the man's tears at missing an opportunity to repay that homeless neighbor of his for his kindness. Listening to him is so educational and entertaining.
The most intelligent, knowledgeable, rich with experience people are humble and at peace with themselves. They are welcoming; accessable;kindest souls and always willing to share wisdom and knowledge....That I know and it's throughout the world.
This touched my heart, thank you so much for giving us a glimpse into your life and sharing history with us! I could listen to you all day Sir. May you have many more years in good health, contentment and happiness 🫶🏾💫🙏🏾 And thank you Summer for introducing us to him, it is so appreciated 🫂🫶🏾
I cant wait for part three. I was in tears listening to Baba. How many young men would be willing to go through what he had to endure. It reminds me of this bible verse in Romans 5- Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. His suffering produced perservance and perseverance produced hope. We salute you Sir.🌹🥰
I can't wait for part 3. It maybe a good idea for you to write about his life. To be honest even a movie or documentary about his life would be an amazing idea if you have the time and you are up to it. Blessings to you and Mr. Balogun. Thank you for such a great guest.
a life story that thought me an angel is always waiting to lift us when we seems and when we are down . I can not believe this encounter still resonate deep with Baba. Your experience and encounter is one in life time . Baba , the man is your angel, the angel is smiling at you .
This Baba is very humble. He is the kind of grandfather I would always like to be close to . There's a lot to learn from him . He's very cheerful and still handsome at his age.
Such an interesting, intelligent and humble man. May God bless him and grant him many more years. AMEN. Summer you an icon, you are lucky to meet a man like him..
Dr Ola Balogun, fun, witty, sensible & not given to wastefulness is the kind of role model Nigerian youths should emulate. I hope Prof Wole Soyinka is watching how elders should show wisdom.
This wonderful! Thanks Summer, it’s a piece of Nigeria’s history we have here. Also, I finally see and hear the legendary Dr. Ola Balogun. God bless you sir
Wow. This interview sounded like i was talking to my Mum. She was also born and brought up in Aba to Yoruba parents and they had to leave the east during the war.
An Angel in disguise the samaritan who gave baba 1/2 of his bread where ever he is may he be blessed beyond measure .Good job Summer keep it up god bless you
Summer, this your catch na 'Evergreen and lively lovely Old School'. He's very correct about the true thieves in Nigeria - Nigerians politicians. Fela and MNK saw Nigeria ahead. Politicians whose conscience couldn't let them sleep of hearing the truth imprisoned them, called them all sorts of them.
What an emotional story..😢when people help u in your darkest moments u feel it to yr bone and lives in your heart forever.. such an humble man..GOD bles you sir ❤❤
I have traveled all over the world, i have leaved in five star hotels, i have also eaten with presidents. guess what?, no food i have ever eating that is as good as the one given to me by the man who has nothing and decided to share with a stranger. did anyone else notice how emotional he was at this point?. Then, is it out of place to suggest that the man he is looking for might be the young people he help each time he sees them reminding him where he started from?. Is it also right to say that the very man he has been looking for might be the gratefulness, appreciation, humility and probably the lessons some of us have learnt from the story?.
