Great video thanks for posting! One tip I have is to attach your pull rope to the limb of your bow closest to your nocks. Last year I pulled my bow up from the other end and cracked a nock without knowing it because it got pushed into the mud. The nock broke on the shot and made a loud whistling noise.

Thanks for sharing , I made double step aiders for my 16” LW mini sticks I made and now going to try a 3 step movable aider to see which one I like better. I was concerned about my aiders swinging around on a windy day and a movable aider would solve that problem.

Nah wasn’t try to be offensive. I like your channel glad you made the video. It convinced me not to sell a summit for a saddle. Looks like a ton of gear and work for little reward. I bet you weigh all your gear saddle ropes clips backpack that’s massive by the way! To carry it all, sticks I bet weights basically a wash at this point. Only advantage I see is the ability to get in different trees? It’s a lot of money to get into I know that. Anyway thanks for the video it was informative. Also I don’t see climber companies constantly having to come up with some new way to stand set bend a leg to be comfortable. They have been untouched for years now. Every year there’s a new platform to stand on or a back band etc.. that makes saddle hunting great again. I noticed Dan Infalt even said the heck with it after 1 year! Maybe I’m missing something?
@TheBudgetSportsman
@TheBudgetSportsman 3 года назад
I know you weren’t trying to be offensive and neither was I. My point was that it isn’t for everyone. I will say that I have weighed my gear and it’s 6-7 lbs lighter than my summit climber(your open shot is lighter than mine I’m sure). The backpack is large because I carry a lot of filming gear. My buddy saddle hunts with a badlands monster Fanny pack. I understand that saddle hunting doesn’t look comfortable, and it does take some time to get used to, but I have significant back pains after 15 minutes in a hang on or climbing treestand. I can hunt pain free in a saddle. Again, it’s not my job to convince anyone, but it’s the first time in my life I’ve been able to comfortably and efficiently mobile hunt on public land.

good stuff, very similar setup myself. I'd like to add a few step aiders in this year, and have a ton of rope to do it! Not sure on the best way to secure to my sticks.
@TheBudgetSportsman
@TheBudgetSportsman 2 года назад
I suppose that depends on the sticks and the aider. I have my Amsteel aiders girth hitched through the cutouts of the hawk step. I really like that because they aren’t over the top of the step and they don’t slide off.

I used a climber for a long time and after switching to a saddle I can’t see myself ever using my climber again. It’s way lighter, more compact to carry in and more versatile in tree selection. How do you like the EZ V bow sight? Also what are you using for a bow hanger on your ocb strap?
@TheBudgetSportsman
@TheBudgetSportsman 3 года назад
I haven’t used the EZV a whole lot yet. I put it on after season and have only played with it a little so far. So far I think it’s an interesting concept for a sight picture using the tick marks on the sight but I’m not so convinced on the “ranging” part of it. I’m using a hook off of a HME gear hanger. The only reason I didn’t use the HME strap is because of the way I mount my second angle camera from the OCB strap.

I have the 3 step hawk sticks with no aiders at all and go 20ft all day long
@TheBudgetSportsman
@TheBudgetSportsman 2 года назад
Have you ever measured because that math doesn’t work. 20 ft is 240” I’m assuming you have three 30” sticks. That’s 90”. Leaving us 150” to get to 20’. So you have 3 spaces between your sticks. 150”/3 is 50”. So unless you’re putting more than 4’ between each stick, you’re not at 20’ Now on the other hand of your measuring to the top of your head and not the top of the sticks then that math works.

@davidcorley1146
@davidcorley1146 2 года назад
I was wondering the same.
@TheBudgetSportsman
@TheBudgetSportsman 2 года назад
As a RU-vidr I’ve been very fortunate to have some companies send me gear to try and review and that definitely offset the cost of my equipment and allowed me to try various options. On a budget here is what I would suggest. CGM sidewinder (similar to the phantom in this video but a little cheaper) - $175 Hawk climbing sticks $100 (have to watch for a sale) Hawk platform (similar to predator platform) I got mine for $60 on sale Ropes will really vary depending on what ropes you choose and where you buy, but I would plan on an extra $100-$150 for ropes, gear hangers pouches etc. Just to be clear, I paid for the sticks in this video while the saddle, platform and ropes were sent to me by tethrd. I love my tethrd products but I’m also giving some more budget options in this reply.
@fabianrichburgh6517
@fabianrichburgh6517 Год назад
Why not tether vs lineman’s belt when ascending?
@TheBudgetSportsman
@TheBudgetSportsman Год назад
Technically, using the tether may be a little safer. However I find that advancing the tether is a bit more difficult than advancing the lineman’s and having the line right in front of you may make it more difficult to hang the sticks as opposed to the lineman’s ropes being to the side. If climbing with tether works for you, it is certainly a safe and acceptable way to do it.

You have no idea what you are talking about. When I started this channel I was literally living on $200 a month. I had $0 budget for hunting and fishing. My life has changed for the better but that will always be my roots. You also clearly do not understand the word budget. If you actually care to know what this channel is about, watch this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8ZNAMFSpsAQ.html

It good idea in theory. It is so uncomfortable no matter how ya do it. Plus legs get tired way to soon. Not good for long hunts. All the gear is expensive. Just my opinion.

Sorry to hear it doesn't work for you. If I sit in a hang on or climber, my back hurts. Saddle hunting is about the most comfortable way I can hunt.

I use Nite ize carabiner like someone else posted, you can find them in plastic but I used some left over stealth strip to make it quite (IM I’ll send pics........2-Pack 1.56-in Stainless Oval Wire Carabiner www.lowes.com/pd/Nite-Ize-2-Pack-1-56-in-Stainless-Oval-Wire-Carabiner/50188835
