Hello JC. I recently purchased a OW pint. Prior to my purchase I spent time watching your videos and educating myself so that I got off to the right and safe start. I have total respect for my OWP and always wear my safety gear! Your videos and all that you impart...not only shortened my learning curve but gave me a new outdoor hobby that I will enjoy for years to come! The Lazyboy protective hoodie is righteous and I will purchase one at the end of the summer(I reside in SoCal). I want to close by sending you a massive thanks for doing things the right and safe way🤝 To The Future💫

Jimmy Chang because of you, your channel and all your great advice I'm buying my first onewheel XR+ this week! Because I live in remote Australia it will be a online order. So won't be too long and I'll be taking my first ride. I don't have any safety gear yet but I've been watching all your videos to see what you recommend. Thanks for the great videos and all the great advice. Keep it up! #1protect

Thanks. I just ordered the Lazy Rolling armored hoodie, Fxnction Shredder Half Finger Wrist Guards, and still using my hockey ccm gear on elbows and legs. I prefer the hard shell for the ability to slide. I guess its my tried and true match from years of aggressive rolling blading before I started e scooting. Thanks for your advice. Love your channel.

After two totally unexpected fairly low speed nosedives in one week, I decided not to tempt fate any longer by upgrading my old skate helmet for the Bell Super R Air full face helmet and my old inline knee and elbow pads with the new Poc VPD Air Fabio edition. One of my falls almost broke a rib and has damaged the muscles around it so I shall be buying the POC VPD System Torso for chest and back protection. A fantastic investment to keep me up and running instead of nursing injuries and looking at my Pint longingly !🙏🏾

The Flatline gloves are amazing. I nose-dived today going 20 MPH and the gloves worked amazingly!!! Honestly, they are a must-have if you use EUC's. It's not a matter of if you crash its a matter of when you crash.

Yeah...I will follow your instructions. Sunglasses and cap is a must 😎when the sun is low. Twice I needed to put my hands in front of me to block the sun. Very bad for balance. You need to watch the road at all times. Edit Motorhelm will not let you hear your surroundings. Bike helmet with chin gard is my preferred protection. Rearview mirror I would also recommend, just so you're not surprised by other traffic.

Your head is the most important and your wrists are the most fragile. I find that's the peak of diminishing returns. You can have all the gear in the world and still tear your MCL trying to step off a onewheel, I know from experience

Check out the IXS Carve Evo+ knee guards. They’re not bulky, have saved my knees during mountain biking, seem to be of high quality (been using then a lot for over a year, still no wear visible), and I always wear them under my pants when Onewheeling. They also have elbow guards of the same style. My new helmet is actually a Triple8 Gotham Darklight Silver, which looks low key during the day and has retroreflective coating for night rides, which actually looks amazing. Also using the leathery Hired Hands wrist guards from Triple8, but they do make using a phone a bit harder.

Hey Jimmy I been following your videos for nearly a year now and the quality has gone up considerably. Always great stuff and while I’m not able to ride my boards rn. During the winter time in CA I wear Mechanix Mpact gloves as they have minimalist padding so I can hold my remote and tough flexible plastic to protect my knuckles in case of a fall. When it gets warmer I only have bicycle gloves but they are been to flimsy for the impacts I might experience. I saw these fingerless gloves and just had to have them. Hope your family and you stay healthy and safe during these times. #1protect

Thanks for talking about these products! I started out looking into half helmets or modular ones until I saw Hsiang's Z10 face plant video a while back. Since then I've only been looking at full face helmets. The thing that I hate is finding a helmet people will agree is safe and that doesn't break the bank can be hard. Still, I guess in the most general terms, something is better than nothing.

I ride downhill bikes also so I have tons of gear I could wear. While riding my ow I have 2 sets of gear. A. heavy trial gear. I use this when I'm riding really steep decline lines ( if you have to set your nose to be neutral at anything over -6 pitch to have the tail clear the slope.) Or drops, or basically anything where you WILL crash, as I did when I learned bail out procedures while riding g down steep grass and intentionally powering g off the wheel while I full speed decline. This consists of Full 661 pressure suit, with spine guard, full face helmet, and knee padding. My common riding gear is a regular skate helmet, and g form on my lead arm, also I NEVER ride without a backpack, this is basic easy back protection. Sometimes I ride with nothing except a pack Gloves are ALWAYS used I also recommend practice crashing, if you get one dived I can say that I tested nose diving for a full day. When you dive if you can tuck your lead shoulder quick and roll to your back pack, you will save a broken shoulder, clavache. It will feel un natural at first unless you have experience eating shit .. this needs to become an instant reaction that you don't think about to be effective.. I don't crash often at all ( serious crashes ) but I ride a LOT of single track with roots and rocks.. I will be making a kick flip one wheel video when the weather stops, something I learned accidentally wearing full gear and riding ledges, its possible to do, just not how you would traditionally do it ;)

Great info Jimmy as always! I was initially not into safety gear at all. Back in the 90's when I used to mountain bike a lot on my Klein (shows my age) I debated even wearing a helmet. Fortunately, I wore a helmet and have always worn one when I ride my bike, electric scooter or Onewheel. I have done a complete 180 in regards to helmets and just upgraded to MIPs enabled snowboard/ski helmet. I personally think helmets can look very cool now. I may even pick-up a Ruroc if I ever want to go full face. I like having a snowboard/ski helmet as they are usually rated higher for collision impact. In addition, many have removable ear flaps and adjustable venting so they are good in winter and summer. I also tend to use snowboard/ski goggles as they are awesome with visibility and keeping the wind out of your eyes. At speeds over 20MPH you really need eye protection from just the wind itself or the random bee :) I wear gloves for warmth and grip but may consider something with some palm padding. I really do love that armored hoodie and may consider getting one.

I used to use cheap-ish wrist guards that I had for inline skating but each had three Velcro straps so took ages to put on. I bought some triple 8 hired hands gloves because they only have one strap each but I have yet to try them. No idea how to solve the knee pad problem. I have some bulky downhill skate ones that at least can strap over jeans and also some low profile g-form-like knee sleeves that go under jeans but neither solution is ideal. I bought some motorcycle jeans from AliExpress with removable knee pads but they are yet to arrive. I’d be keen for some free stuff too but I doubt you would want to ship it all the way to New Zealand! #1Protect gloves look good and I like the look of the exoskin knee pads from #craftandride

Uno medical makes a product called "fabric roll stretch" which is a cotton bandage with adhesive on one side and comes in a roll like tape.. i use this on the top edge of g form armor so it does ot shift around. Also to him y, I can assure you that g form is better armor than you think, it will not help as much with a non glancing g impact it I can say that on my downhill bike last year I clipped a rock and went superman over the bars directly into a boulder field impact on both elbows at a clocked speed of over 50 kmh ( canadian ),wreaked my helmet and tire the g form.. I guarantee I would have suffered a broken elbow had i not on been wearing it. Its easier to understand how g form works if you put it on something g and then punch it hard and fast ( don't mess up your hand though ) its seppd reactive so its plush if you push on it, quite a different thing at speed impacts.. early versions s of this material became hard like plastic after impacts dispersing the potential energy Into a energy conversion of state ( similar to latent heat ) .. it was great but was 0immefiatelly garbage after an impact of any real magnitude.

I use a set of cheap Amazon knee/elbow pads and wrist guards with a Bell skateboard style helmet most of the time. I at first used my full street motorcycle gear until I at least mostly understood the OW, and it saved my skin multiple times, as did the Amazon gear, to a somewhat lesser extent, but still way better than nothing. I'm currently looking into the next version of protection for my family and me as we continue exceeding the original speed limit of the human body. #1protect

Another great video. People don't think they want to wear safety gear ... until they bail and wish they had ... I use a Triple-8 helmet, and some generic brand wrist-guards, which work really well. I had one wipeout where I'm positive I would have had a broken wrist and serious hamburger hands ... denied! I could definitely use the #1protect gloves as an option, and I'm liking the idea of the bumsaver (size L) from #craftandride . Cheers!

"Will i use/ wear it?" is a fantastic guide for pretty much anything. toothbrushes, safety gear, exercise, etc. I used to wear fingerless gloves, but one wreck messed up what was exposed enough that I swore I would do my best not to let that happen again. I use my hands too much. So I wont be entering the giveaway, of the gloves anyway ;) I use full finger hillbilly. I have 2 pair. I broke the plastic palm piece offroading on the onewheel. the leather is so thick on the palm that i decided the protection is still good. Plus there is still a ridged plastic piece that goes over the top of the hand for support. without the bulky palm piece i am more free to use my hands. i may clip the very tip of the finger off for cellphone use. hillbilly gloves are probably over-protective, but great value for the money! 6 kids and thoughts of injury is enough to enforce that I put on my elbow and knee pads, even though i don't like them a lot. I do forget about them after a while though (that I'm wearing them that is). Maybe look into some mountain biking knee pads? unfortunately I've never used any to give a personal recommendation, but it seems like they would make sense. bikers are bending and flexing their knees more than anyone. should be comfortable and flexy? worth a look/ shot? id like to give the triple 8 exoskeleton knee and elbow pads a try for reasons resembling those said above #craftandride

The only con about the onewheel is that you van fall if it dives. Could you do a review in the "dive safe" front wheels? Also, I haven't found it. But I wonder if there is a handle or something for the onewheel which an escooter has to increase stability and ride more comfortably. Or if there is an escooter that has it's wheels in a way that it can turn just as good as a Onewheel or an EUC while keeping that control a Onewheel has over an EUC.

If you are looking for full upper body protection in summer much like your hoody may I suggest a motorcycle jacket like the one I have it by ICON it is the Jersey jacket. It has removable sleeves not that you need to take them off. It also has D3 padding that is very flexible and goes hard on impact then back to flexible. The biggest thing I like about this jersey is that I live in Florida and I can wait this jacket all summer long it has the best breath ability of any jacket I have used. They are not cheep but worth the money and it was designed for motorcycles so I’m sure it will protect you on a ECU. I would put pics but not sure how to add them here not even sure I can. Lol. #1protect

Wouldn't mind winning the gloves... For my EUC when it's really warm out I use a Motorcycle Air Jacket... It's a mesh jacket with body armor in it...

Hi, regarding the LazyRolling Armored Hoodie, how's the fit and fabric stretch of the material? Did you stick with the sizing chart or went one size up to compensate for the CE1 paddings? The reason I asked, I measured 42" around the chest and on their sizing chart, I should be a medium but not sure if it's a tight fit especially if there's no give on the fabric infused with Kevlar. Hopefully, it doesn't shrink in the wash/dryer as well. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks and stay safe!

Well if I HAD a Onewheel I'd probably go off of your recommendation and pick up the same pair of #1protect gloves you're giving away. Same goes for the #Craft&Ride gear; ExoSkin elbow pads and knee pads would be a must. I'd also pick up a great helmet but I'm stuck between the retro OneWheel helmet or the cool looking mountain bike helmet you wear. I'd definitely be one of those guys wearing crazy cool looking gear while zooming by haha. If only I were eligible for the stimulus check I'd definitely be picking up a Onewheel Pint!
