who would've thought that the solution would be to unplug then replug the power supply (i only tried turning the power button on and off) Thanks a lot saved me a lot of trouble
My second monitor has gone completely pitch black, but sometimes will come around on its own after a few minutes. But as the days goes by, it does gradually feel worse because it outright refuses to display anything. So unplugging and replugging my second monitor from the monitor itself definitely helped solve this issue. Thank you for providing a helpful solution.
Well, I just got a new laptop and the extended monitor wasn't happy. Got a black screen with no mouse pointer. I kept re-plugging the HDMI from the laptop end, but only after watching your video, I unplugged it from the monitor side and the monitor came up. Thank you so much for this. However, I am still wondering what made it to work, but at the end, I am happy that my workstation is fit and fine now.
im trying to connect my laptop to a monitor through HDMI, and it showed on black screen just like this one. at first it didnt even detect the 2nd monitor. fixed it by manually updating my nvidia driver (using the clean install option). then it detects the 2nd monitor, but still show black. in the end, it was cleaning my laptop's HDMI port that fixed it (just a few strong blow of air to the port)... because this laptop is so dusty. thank you for the help!
Mine displays a NO SIGNAL on the 2nd monitor when I unplug and plug it back in. I've gone through ALL the standard options you find online, none of them work. Here's something weird though: when I unplug the monitor that doesn't turn on and plug it back in - both monitors turn off and then come back on and work fine. What does that mean?
I'm a computer tech and I still don't have the answer for anyone. Clearly OP in the video has a faulty monitor because none of that is the end all cure. Some computers just lack the ability to process more than what it is able to, ie another video output with a computer with low cores is going to have problems. Not always, but most of the time.
I had a similar issue after simply drawing a line in windows picture editor (yeah idk), but if I put something full screen on the monitor(1) with issues, it worked fine. Also it had the ability to hide the programs behind the black screen, yet if I hovered over the program in the taskbar to highlight it I could see it as if it was full screen, and interact with them. Monitor 2 worked fine. I did unplug and plug the cable (displayport) and change up inputs on monitor 1 through physical buttons, none of which worked (by itself). The solution somehow turned out to be that I had to open a full screen program (any, I just used a random game) to be able to see the screen, then a tab over to see the taskbar over full screen. Then I had to drag the taskbar that was located on monitor 1 that had all the program icons (what he clicked on 2:10), over to monitor 2, which does not have those small icons. This solved it to me, but I have no idea what the logic behind such a bug could be. I suppose my problem was more of a software issue instead of cables, but I'll leave this comment in case it might help someone that find this video through the same keywords I used :)
But both are black screens...my 1 was in black screen mode while I watch 2...and I cut them both off then later I can back and once I unplug the adapter the 1 comes on but once I plug it in it goes black and 2 still doesn’t come on

I had my monitor black, I tried changing drivers, testing other HDMI cables, I can't believe the monitor came back just unpluggin it from AC..., many thanks bro !!!
all i get is mdmi and analog flashing in the corner, had a geek squad dude come round cost me 158 bucks , and he said was it needed rebooting , having the same prob again now its back to its hdmi analog flash
2 monitors and 1 PC. When I have my screensaver on then moved the mouse, 1 monitor screen went blank. Do I need to keep pulling out the monitor cable and plug back in?
...same with me., None of my options worked. Usually when I unplug the monitor that doesn't turn on and plug it back in - both monitors turn off and then come back on... I have no idea why.
@@patrickkloiber741 so we discovered what was actually going on is that when the Display Port is plugged into the 2060 on my system, it overrides the HDMI cable for the main display and the main display becomes the secondary display. I had to instead use a DVI cable in order the main display to keep it's primary status. But it's giving me a Resolution error because the DVI cable is so old and asking for a dual-link DVI cable (upgraded version).
My Asus gaming monitor has the same issue with HDMI connection too. It's a simple fix, at least for me, just TURN OFF AND ON the monitor, the second monitor will back on again.
What you did does sometimes works but your explanation is wrong it has to do with Windows fails to id the device correctly or forgets or the handshake the plug and play function the order in which it looks at what is connected. When you unplug the cable it renegotiate the plug and play. It been a problem since windows 95. Microsoft always blames everyone else. It has all ways been buggy with mismatch monitors or VgA/hdmi/dmi.
Bro when I I connect HDMI and then open tv and laptop then opening logo appears on tv then after sometime I it will back to laptop and then I will try to get back screen on tv by using screen resolution option but it is not working. Plz help plz 😭😭😭
Hello there. I have that problem since 2 weeks. nobody could help then i watched your video. It worked first. now it is lost again. I changed nothing but it is gone again.
Hello. I have a problem. When I turn on the computer for about 40 minutes, I work on the Internet and everything is fine, after a while the monitor turns off, the screen turns black and the computer works, it means that the monitor is also turned on, the green dot below is turned on, only the monitor turns off and then I have to I have to turn off the computer and turn it on again and everything is ok. If you can tell me what the problem is. Thank you in advance. The computer is AMD FX6300 6CORE AND THE GRAPHICS ARE SAPPHIRE R9 290 4GB
just solved my problem with a monitor not working on windows nor linux, black screen, swaped monitors and the old one worked, swapped back again the new one blacked out... just removed the power outlet from the monitor waited 5 seconds and voila
Ok so I noticed a strange thing happening. My monitor only works when i plug in both- the vga, and the hdmi cable. Even if remove one, the display stops working. I have two outputs from the same cpu going in to the same monitor. What might be the issue here?
Mine is, my CPU is a company CPU and I restart it. Now that I did it, it's just a blank screen. It needs a second monitor but I don't have that... And I have to buy a GVA converter just so I can connect the hdmi to the cpu- it'll take me a few days and I hate it... 😢 I've got work to do... Is there any way to figure it out... I'm losing hope

Secondary moniter is detected but not displayed through hdmi to hdmi moniter (hdmi power saving mode) but displaying with USB C to Vga moniter. Not working with (USB C hdmi hub) to hdmi moniter. Noy working with (HDMI to VGA adapter) to VGA moniter. When HDMI port gets involved, mointer is dected but not displayed. Any one counter this problem and got solved?
guys i need help now guys on intel i tried putting my monitor at 144 hz because it was stuck at 120 hz and then a added another resolution on until to 1920 by 1080 to see of i could change it and now when u plug the hdmi into my alptop the laptop screen goes balck and the moitor does too
I have a laptop setup with my external monitor as a second screen. It's an iiyama g-master GB34 and I literally just locked my laptop screen and came back to find my monitor screen on but back-lit is black. For the past two days, I've tried to access the OSD menu, use 3 different HDMI cables, tried connecting a pc, 2 different laptops and a ps4 but nothing is popping up apart from a black screen. There isn't even a "no signal" error message popping up. This points to my monitor being the issue. I just don't get it, surely this can't be the end of my monitor..from just locking my laptop screen?!
This is fucking unfair bro my monitor is super old i have the same problem when connecting it with the laptop. My monitor doesnt have any other hole besides the one for the blue cable. Even if i had HDMI i would not need it because the monitor doesnt have a hole for that
Use the description maaan. No interest in watching 5,5 mins of babbling and a guy giving a massage for cables. Took 2 minutes to google the solution and read it instead of watching this lmao
I did the same thing. After trying everything for hrs. I discovered all I had to do was change my monitor setting from Display port to HDMI. I had to reconnect my old laptop to do it, since the new one would only show a black screen when I plugged the HDMI cable into it. I thought the HDMI connection would work right away. Didn't know that I had to change it over in the monitors menu.🤯
