Sony chill, 100%. I never had problems with other batteries.

I've got me a pair of Wasabi batteries with a charger after seeing a video with Peter Gregg talking highly of them. Who wouldn't trust Peter's tips? So I bought them and apart from my A7III always issuing a warning about the battery and the need to click OK, they work flawlessly. I've had them for 2,5 years and haven't noticed the degradation in capacity. Truth be told I always shoot video with a dummy battery and I'm using the Wassabi batts as backup for the photography work when I'm shooting events or portraits.

Nice! Ol Uncle Peter Gregg is absolutely a trustworthy source. Glad to hear years later they’re still holding up. It’d be great if the warning in certain cameras were for actual dangerous battery where it notices something is off vs all this parties.

Battries like the npfw50 & npfz100 , npf series. Use cylindrical cells and they do last long. I have an npf battery that my dad bought back when i was like 1yo , he had a massive video camera, he worked part time in 't series' as a videographer. And that camera recorded in 1080i into tapes back in 2003 so u can understand how leading edge it was. It's like a modern 8k camera. And so it required those npf 970 battries. They have a ton of capacity. And that battery still runs that huge video camera for few hours. , Most of it's life it hasn't seen much cycle. It was mounted to the camera for a backup if somehow the plugin power was lost but for a 20yo lithium battery it is impressive.

Yes, I use the ZV E10 for hiking photography, and have one spare Sony battery. On a long hike (more than 3 days) I charge the used battery with a solar charged battery bank during the evenings. The battery is only 1020 mAh so charges very quickly.

Yeah, I remember initially felt that same sense of annoyance when I bought a spare Sony battery, but they're the only ones I've had that last the longest and hold the best charge long-term.

My sony zv e10 drains like 5% every 5 mins is this normal? Not even in record mode either just have it on while trying to figure out composition for the video.
@DianaGladney

I know it goes relatively quickly on the FW50 batteries but outside of the initial tests I didn't track how fast the battery decline was. Mostly because unless I was on the go vlogging, the camera was hooked up to a battery bank and that's how I would do my record sessions, so I didn't have to think about the battery life or keep swapping batteries. For live streaming, I would use an AC power adapter. It sucks but that's why the petition and hope for the ZV-E10 Mark 2 is to swap to the better FZ100 battery.
@boredfive3001
@boredfive3001 2 месяца назад
I just bought a battery. Was trying to find the closest thing to the battery that comes with the camera I have now but couldn't find it. There literally wasn't anything listed in any price range with the exact same specs. So I got one that was about 50 watts lower. A minute difference in terms of paper specs, but I didn't want to go above that and possibly end up frying my camera. I figured I rather it be under powered than over powered. HOWEVER I didn't factor in battery swelling. I don't know if that's gonna be an issue or not, but I guess I will find out. I'm familiar with battery swelling for batteries like cellphone batteries. However I would hope that's not the case for a camera battery. I had no problem getting standard Sony battery BUT they seemed way too under powered compared to the OEM battery that came with the device that I can't seem to find anywhere.

Great video, thank you, I use a zv1 for my channels, one of these days I would like to get one of these, I didn't realize that the third party batteries could wreck your camera that's interesting,. Back in the day I used to have a little Cannon point and shoot and I always bought some third-party batteries cuz they were cheap but I'll tell you what, they never held a charge as long as the original, but this will make me think twice about buying third party batteries again, very helpful video

Yeah, you don't see it as much as you used to a few years ago but there is still the occassional issue I'll see posted online but it's never been worth it for me to keep trying them once I noticed some 3rd party batteries I owned started to swell so bad they wouldn't eject properly from the camera a couple of years ago.

I'm planning to get this camera and battery bank for long form recording at the high school I teach. Will this battery bank connected to the USB port keep the camera running for say...graduation, dance shows, theatrical plays, etc? I plan to keep the battery in the camera and run the camera from the battery banks. Please let me know if this will work. Thanks! Thanks!

FYI, those charmasts have fake ratings, they may work fine for small power consumption, but I measured the 23000 mah, and it couldnt even produce 20000, on the flip side, I have a gigantic 27000 airline limit imuto battery bank that produces 31000...... crazy amounts of energy, but rightfully so, it weighs a ton. A general rule of thumb, is that if it's too small and light, it wont produce the energy.
@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney 8 месяцев назад
That's interesting Charlie, thanks for sharing your test results. For me, I don't get too granular in the specs for stuff like that, I just need it to work and work well, and hopefully lol not weigh a ton. So, whatever it's cranking out, it does very well for me while traveling to last me a couple of days of charging my phone and cameras regularly and from there I'm golden. But as far as running the cameras, they still work great, even on my ZV-E1 for an all day shoot. So, it more than does the job for me.

Can I charge my Sony e10 just with its normal charger and the wall outlet while I’m recording or that’s only possible with the adapter ?
@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney 4 месяца назад
For your camera to actually positively charge, it needs to be off and any USB C connected battery bank or wall outlet can charge it like normal. Now, if it’s while you’re recording you can use a wall outlet or battery bank to extend the life of battery in the camera or a dummy battery. More details on that specifically is in nun other video on Unlimited battery life options video for the ZV-E10 if you want to dive into that for other power options. The short answer is no though. You’re not charging the camera at all via any method no matter how you connect it. It requires the camera to be off. At best you can choose an option that helps with battery life extension or use an ac power option or something.
@ExpansionMusicalTV
@ExpansionMusicalTV 4 месяца назад
Thanks for the answer, just to be clear, I can’t charge it while I’m using in filming or on a live stream etc but if I charged 100% and I stream with the camera connected to the wall outlet just to mantain the battery and make sure it doesn’t turn off, is that possible?
@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney 4 месяца назад
It's not going to actively charge it but if you get the Kondor Blue USB C cable for example, stay under 10ft cables, and use a solid power brick, if you start at 100% battery it'll hold it's charge. (This cable is the one here I use: amzn.to/3xPQjxR) It won't be until you turn that camera off that it'd begin to active charge the camera battery. Otherwise if it's on and plugged up, it will at least stay that way. With other cables I've tried, they slowly drain over time, just like with the battery bank example I mention below. You can try a similar cable if you want to test what you might already have, but this is the only one I have across all my cables that works like a champ on any of the cameras. However, if you're using a battery bank, it'll still progressively decline. Doesn't matter the kind of battery bank, it's still a slow decline but far slower than if you didn't have it connected. About the 4 hour mark is where I usually swap that battery out on a battery bank.

Kastar Battery vs NEEWER NP-FW50 the neewer are more expensive I think this is the same product battery for the capacity of NP-FW50
@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney 10 месяцев назад
3rd party batteries aren't honestly worth investing in. They last for a little while, but considering the short lifespan of the 3rd party batteries, them swelling or losing their capacity over time, just isn't worth it.

@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney Год назад
You'd have to check with Sony and see what markers they have to verify it. I'm sure there are probably comparison pictures online to show the difference. I know Canon had a site for that very thing, but I'm not sure if Sony does. I'd say just return the battery and purchase from an official seller like B&K Photo Video, KEH.com, Adorama, etc.

As far as a wireless lapel mic setup, I found a home with the DJI wireless mics and the Rode SmartLav+ is what I still use today. I recommend folks get the Rode Lapel Mic Go (this one: amzn.to/4al8sSh) because it'll connect directly to your camera or wireless mic with no adapters on the lapel needed. I used to use the Rode Wireless Mics but the need to have to use the app or your computer to change various settings because super annoying. Plus, it slows you down some when you're creating. I just like stuff that's simple, quick, and great quality. So, the DJI's have been awesome. For the lapel mic, I went with the Rode SmartLav+ and use a small adapter to work with my camera because I can also use it with my smartphone. But what's easiest for most folks is the Rode Lapel Go that works straight out the box. So, that's what I'd recommend. It's just easier for me personally because it gives me options when traveling to use my phone. Plus, if something happened with my cable, it's easier to find the camera mic adapters in cities vs the other way around. I went with this combo because it's the quietest lapel mic I've tested that picks up my voice well and rejects the ambient room noise well. Other lapel mics I've tested tend to pickup more noise but the Rode lapel mics don't. So it's less noise you have to clean up in editing. Long answer to a simple question, but I try to ensure my answers are as clear as possible when sharing what I use and why.
