Another huge thank you to Christen at Stygian Exotics. She both produced Zephyr and provided some of the footage in this video. Show her some love on insta @stygianexotics

Oh! Just saw this - she is making more ground boas soon and that's who I was hoping to get mine from! All their scaley critters are stunning, to say the least!

Omg, that's crazy, I live right down the street from Christen, I got my 1st Kenyan Sand Boa from her. I also got to see her huge collection of Candoia, Emerald Tree Boas, Corn Snakes, some Woma Pythons, and other colubrid like Aesculapian Snakes, and now some Trinket Snakes. She's really great, unfortunately she's now getting out ov Viper Boas, which is kind of sad. But I'm glad I found someone that also knows her.

I’ve had my Solomon Is. Ground boa, MargaritaToo (long story) since 1991, she’s 33 years old! She was 4” long when I got her, and had to feed her pieces of frozen pinkies until she was big enough to eat full-sized pinkies. Definitely a shoot-first and ask questions later kind-of snake when it come to feeding, but super chill when not in feeding mode. She’s been a very enjoyable snake to have, they require a lot of handling when they are young.

Subscriber 117 here, I had a very dark brown female grounder in 1992 that was the exact opposite of everything, everyone keeps attributing to these lovely creatures! She was 6' if she was an inch, ate live mice like a champ, always stayed 5'-6' up in the trees and bit the ever-lovin'-shit outta me at every available chance. Once in the face! In front of my girlfriend, her roommate and my mom no less. I really liked her the 0.5 out of 5 times that she didn't bite me when I handled her.maybe she was treated poorly prior to my picking her up in the pet store?? I'd kinda like to try again, but only captive bred........really difficult to find are they??

Haha what a lovely lady. Great story. And yea very easy to get them captive bred these days. The footage of the adults in the vid are from the breeder Zephyr is from, she’s awesome. Thank you for the sub

I have, what I thought was a female, but turns out is a male, candoia paulsoni tasmai, and he’s roughly about 2 years old. I have been successful at taking him out without getting bit, and I have had interactions where I’d put my hand in the enclosure and he would actually come up to me, smell me, and even come on to me, but sometimes he’ll just bite no questions asked. When he’s out and in my hands though he’s perfectly fine, very chill and very calm, almost feels like a totally different snake. And I‘m glad you made this video because it shed light on their growth rate, I thought it would be like my boa imperator which, in a year and a half, has almost doubled in size, even though I don’t power feed him, so I was getting a little worried that I might be doing something wrong with my candoia, so thanks a bunch, now I know that it‘s just how they are and I can rest easy.

Thank you so much for this great, informative video! I was just turned on to Ground Boas and was specifically interested in Candoia Carinata Paulsoni. This turned out to be a good resource for me to learn, and I really appreciate that ^_^ Zephyr is a cool as heck name, and he is absolutely adorable - and a beauty. I am very interested in getting one for myself at some point, so I'll keep trekkin' on in my learning journey ~

I've got one named Zion, though yet to be seen if it's actually a boy or not 😂 How old is your guy in this video? Mines about to be 2 years old and he's still so small that I don't feel comfortable feeding him anything bigger than pinkies, so I want to see if the growth rate really is that slow or if I'm underfeeding him (x1 every 8 days or so, some times I'll do a double feeding if the pinkies are a little smaller)

I have a baby Isabelle Is. Ground boa. Hatched New Years Eve (so I was told). I can't get it to eat. Other than that, it's gorgeous, and barely as large as a night-crawler. But I'm at my last wits end with trying to get it to eat anything, believe me I've tried just about every suggestion I could find from various people and websites. I have not yet been able to obtain live frogs or lizards small enough to offer. That's the only thing I haven't had access to. I'm afraid mine wont make it. Don't know what else to do. ;(

@leafystreet 2 года назад
O man sorry to hear that. A snake not eating stresses me out so bad. Its partially what makes me not want to ever pair this guy up. Im sure you've tried scenting with Lizard urates or just a morning gecko tail that is from a humanly euthanized individual? have you had to force feed?
@HeartsScales
@HeartsScales Год назад
Did you ever get it to eat? >.< Sorry you went through this - always so worrisome when our scalies aren't eating.
@vkahri
@vkahri Год назад
@@HeartsScales Sadly no, it eventually passed away. If I try again with this species, I'll get it from a breeder who has already established it as an eater on F/T pinkies (if I get a juvenile not an adult)
