They are swallows. We have house swallows that live in a gourd nest my husband made. They come back every year. They live on the porch and they aren’t even scared of us. We love them ❤

TTQ: Hi Colleen ! This question is about the podcast. Would you and Erik ever do more episodes where you react to Haters Back Off again ? I loved those episodes and episode 4 of Haters Back Off is my favorite ! The part where uncle Jim tries to slash the tires and fails and the “All That Jazz” performance made me cry laughing the first time I watched. I know you would always say you have a hard time watching and thinking back to that time but I loved hearing stories from both you and Erik about filming the show and all the behind the scenes stuff. Hey Colleen, I totally feel the struggle with the curly hair wavy hair problems. I actually did some thing that I’ve never done before recently and I got a perm and I’m not talking like a crazy 1980s tiny little curly Annie kind of curls. I’m talking a beachy wave kind of perm and it has seriously changed my hair game. And I really love that. I just don’t have to do anything to it. I don’t have to braid it and sleep in it and do any sort of styling moose. I don’t have to diffuse it with a hairdryer. I can wash it more than once a week, it’s honestly saved a lot of time for me and as a mom I totally get why you don’t have time to do your hair every day because I don’t either. Just saying consider getting a loose perm you won’t regret it!

My prefered low maintenence curly hair routine for my hair is to wash it twice a week MAX and when I go to bed I 'refresh' the curls by spraying them with a leave in conditioner, combing with a wide toothed comb, applying a 'curl cream' and putting my hair in 2 braids (I use lengths of ribbon but elastics/ scrunchies would probably work) to sleep in. If I've lots of knots I brush my hair out dry and then do the above routine. Takes 2 min max at night, can be done with wet/ damp hair and is no heat. In the morning I just take the braids out and put in whatever style I want. Probably breaks every 'curly girl' rule but it prevents tangles whilst you sleep, is sensory friendly (once you find products you can tolerate, I'm autistic and it took me a few attempts) , can be skipped if your hair is still okay (just braid it before sleeping) and is low maintence, plus you don't have to wash your hair so frequently. I had the same issues you did with 'curly girl' routines and it didn't last more than 12hrs so I found this routine works pretty well. My hair is long but I'd be confident that it should still work with hair your length. I won't recomend products as my prefered products aren't sold in the US far as I can find (a leave in conditioner by a brand called 'Glow' that supposedly dupes a 'Sol De Janiro' product and a curl cream by a brand called 'Creightons', both are sold in UK discount stores, namely one called 'Home Bargains' and I can't find any US retailers) but I have heard good things about the 'Aussie' ones from friends who do similar. I think most products under the names 'Leave in conditioner spray' and 'curl cream' do the same thing, its just the texture I've taken issue with and that's a very individualised thing.

I have very similar hair to you. I have 2 young kids and I just don't care what my hair looks like most days and don't care what others think of me. I choose to direct my attention towards other aspects of my life and try to remind myself that if a stranger feels the need to critique my natural hair, they have other issues going on in their lives where they feel the need to bring down another person. Live your best life!

I remember the vlog from a few years ago when you had just brought the babies home and you filmed Flynn piling trucks and cars on top of Daisy while she slept.
