Johannes may be one of the most underrated vocalists alive. Avatar fucking brings it.

He's the guy I would hang out with for beers, and have deep conversations about everything. A wise guy; just respect.

Saw them live this week and it was amazing. There are bands who just go and perform and then there are bands who enjoy the performance and you can see it, feel it. These guys are having as much of a blast as the audience does when they perform and Johannes is absolutely insane in character. Loved it.

The fact that Johannes mentions Devin as an inspiration AND had Devin play for Avatar during a tour is so f'ing amazing I can't believe it was thanks to Avatar that I found such an amazing artist as Devin Townsend. Seriously some of the coolest guys I've ever had the pleasure to listen to and see live!

I found Avatar a few years ago and it was instant love for Me. Johannes is an amazing frontman and really understands how to "Put on a show". I love their style and their theatrics. I ain't gona lie though when Johannes puts on the make up it's like whoah this guy is super attractive. I have always loved guys that don't look or fit into the norms of attractiveness. He makes me feel super happy when I hear His voice. He's also super chilled out which is a bonus 🥰

Johannes is the best metal scream singer out there!

Johannes will be considered as a legend 20 years from now and will stand next to the Ozzy Osbournes, Marilyn Manson and Ronny James Dio of this world

Saw these guys in NJ last weekend for first time, they’re AMAZING live. He’s a true frontman, absolute blast to see

AVATAR is an amazing band I absolutely love them seen them live twice already. When they do a live show they do it right and make your experience an unforgettable one

What a great interview! I know virtually nothing of this guy or even the band.. Last fall me and my 8 year old son went to Green Bay Wisconsin to probably the best or at very least one of the very best haunted attractions I've ever been to called Terror on the Fox. Have been here several times.. however this time when approaching what the call "The Big House" they would periodically have these amazing shows out front and on the haunt facade where all the actors/monsters would be acting out some heavy metal thrash song and its always my favorite part of each trip here. Well this time one of the songs they were acting out to was Hail the Apocalypse and it was absolutely f-ing amazing!!! I'd never heard the song before but me and my boy were instantly in love with this song!!! Was so fitting for this attraction and these actors absolutely were totally into it as well! Was a cool experience! On the ride home that night I found the music video of Hail the Apocalypse and my son thought it was just the coolest video ever! Lol! And I agree and approve!!! ;) I've watched several videos since and even a few live performances. This guy signs off in such a commemorable way. Such a decent guy. Full of heart and definitely full of love as well! I feel like over the years the culture around metal music and in all my years working around haunted attractions that the greater public sometimes looks at this as just a bunch of weirdos and nutcases. However I'm absolutely certain that in my experience I've only come across some of the most compassionate and stand-up people I've ever met! Long story short... we love this band! Lol! So from Wisconsin.. please come play here!!! Lol!!!

Excellent questions!! Around 24 minutes in, he discusses the difficulty in singing his parts, and how he doesn't realize until he sings the song the whole way through that he may "be in trouble"- I heard the single Dance Devil Dance and I thought UH-OH, how is he going to sing this live night after night? Well I will be seeing the band soon, so I guess I'll find out!

I love this. It gives me enough information that I was asking myself about the band period. I care allot about this band and wondered how they keep up. Because they have been going non stop for years!

He really likes to talk. I would listen to him a whole day. 😂 Just saw Avatar for the first time and boy, i was impressed!!!!

I really loved this interview! Thank you! So fun to hear about the making of... Just found Avatar at Sweden Rock Festival this year (2023) and fell in love instantly! To being a hardrock loving Swede and not knowing about them though they been out there for so many years is a bit embarrassing 😅 I love their diversity. Interesting to hear about the musical upbringing that explains 2 of the acts that makes your jaw drop That voice Johannes has! It's one thing to do tricks in a studio but you know it's real when it sounds the same live. To hear that he actually do warmups just makes me feel respect. Now I enriched my life thanx to these guys ❤Thank you!

Thank you so much ! Very interesting interview. This band is my absolute favorite since I stumbled on their tracks, and I am craving for insight on how they work and create. So, thanks a lot. Very good interview. Instructive and inspiring. My only criticism would be on the editing part : why would you insert parts of their live performances over the talking, and not simply make it separate inserts, with /only the talking//live performance//only the talking ? That way we could enjoy both. I didn't enjoy Let It Burn while trying to understand the words Johannes said :/
