Words of wisdom. That cuts through pretty deep - involves that genuine self respect (not ego) to stand up for what one truly believes in rather than going with the crowd at one’s ultimate peril. Crazy as a Christian saying this regarding a singer with his past history.
I found your channel today. Great Interview man, very interesting questions. David looks like a really nice guy. I will check your others interview. cheers!
That interview was excellent David. I'm sorry for your recent tour here in Australia being not so good because of our nanny government . Hopefully you guys come back
He is right… all this “pig” singing with these bands nowadays… f*cking hate that as well… only Chris barnes could do that properly with cannibal corpse…
As far as death metal goes, Vincent has one of the most distinguishable voices as well as convincing aggression within the boundaries of so-called noise! His skills far pass most bands in the death metal scene and he is an excellent entertainer! Great interview!♠⚔♠
Damn, that was a great interview from both sides. This series is absolute gold. In general, I've really enjoyed the content from this channel since I discovered you guys. Cheers! Btw I just saw I am Morbid at Summer Breeze in Germany and they were unbelievably good. The whole band. To think that David and Pete are still doing this at that level at their age is crazy.
@@x.rickenbacker9393 thanks a lot for the kind words. Next two guests will be Snake from Voivod and Heljarmadr from Dark Funeral. Unfortunately there were small technical difficulties with sound on the interview so hopefully they will be ok quality-wise. :)
@@chaoszine Without a doubt! It always helps in my opinion that the interviewer is concise and prepared with questions and of course is respectful, which you are. Very cool series overall!
a amazing interview.. i was completely ingrossed and captivated the entire interview. I have been a David Vincent fan since the late 80's and have met him a couple times in the mid-90's.. He is still rock solid to this day mentally & physically. It is soooo great to see him & Pete back together again in I Am Morbid especially when it seems Trey has gone off the deep in here lately. CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR THE NEW VLTIMAS...!!!!
Thanks for the nice words! I was so happy he agreed to do this interview with us to the series as he is one of the most important and most influential vocalists in the whole death metal genre. :)
I loved watching Headbangers Ball and freaking my baptist mother out when Morbid Angel - God of Emptiness would come on. She'd just shake her head and go to the kitchen to smoke a cigarette probably wondering where she went wrong with her devil son.
Oh, and Kiddies,...DO NOT FORGET TERRORISER as well - 2 Morbid Angel Members + Dino in Americas' version of Napalm Death/Carcass/Extreme Noise Terror/Concrete Sox
Wayyyy awesome interview. I’m only halfway through and I had to hit the comments to see if people were as stoked on it as I was. Turns out they are! Love this guy
David Vincent is one of the true gods of death metal. Such a genuine person. So much respect for him. The man is 58 years old, and still going strong. Looks at least 10 years younger. When Morbid Angel was without him, I stopped buying the records. It's not Morbid Angel without him. "We Will DOMINATE!!!" God, I love that tune. That is signature Dave. One of the best , and clearest voices in death metal. Not a cookie monster sucking the mic like a cock. The real deal.
morbid angel is only not MA when Trey is gone, Steve is an amazing frontman too, but without Pete too it feels weird, still MA tho \m/ and youre really missing out with FFF and Gateways
I've heard all their albums. I don't hate the ones without David Vincent. They have their own value on their own. But you have to agree, without Trey, Pete, or Dave, it's just a different band using the MA name. The point of my original comment was how intelligent and down to earth David Vincent has always been. And his vocals are so clear and still brutal as hell for death metal. Steve is good, but he has a more generic , cloudy vocal style that is very different from Dave. It changed the sound of the band. But we all have our own likes and dislikes. But we're all in the club. We all love death metal. The heavier the better. Even when you get old, you will still go back and listen to your faves. Metal never dies, and it knows no age limit. @@butchered_deathmetal

I could hear this dudes voice narrating a movie, reading a book, a voice actor for commercials or even a voice commentator. Such a distinct strong voice, a voice of authority. When he speaks... you listen.
Dear David. You have always been my metal Frontman nr. 1. Because he looks true & he stop up, before a concert. In '89 I saw "Blessed are the Sick Tour in Copenhagen, Denmark. With all 4 original members. After soundcheck, we waited & asked if they would share 1/2 l Carlsberg each. They immediately said YES. And we talked 30min with M.A. Support was Entombed & Dismember. Have seen them 6 times since '89. People Who hates the Illud..-album. Compared to Heretic, which has 1 good song. Illud.. have 4-5 real Morbid tracks. But the industrial shit was a disaster. Vincent for President. Viking greetings from Denmark
I do not remember the year but it was in the 90's, I went to Morbid Angel, Unleashed and Entombed at the Roseland theater in Portland OR, I was young lol and Front row, David gave me his pick,,, hahahaah I will not ever forget that. HAIL
He makes a great point about most of metal vocals being indistinguishable. I’d be lying if I didn’t have my mind blown the first time I read along to Meshuggahs music with their lyrics, and jens is even one of the more distinguishable vocalists lol. Like why even write lyrics if people can’t understand what you are saying. I guess it’s full decoding the code but, yeah, nonetheless, great point.
C O C K Terrible human being. Tre was a great guy..... a band i was in played with them in Atlanta. He pushed the soundcheck for at minimum an hour.... we're waiting our turn. He refused to sing in their soundcheck. When the sound guy asked him to sing for the 20th time (so he could set mic level) this guy fires the sound guy
David was interviewed on a late-night Friday night UK rock show in the early 90s; a friend of mine who was into nothing heavier than Megadeth caught the interview. She was blown away by how intelligent and articulate he was. She had assumed death metal was mindless grunting (not that there's anything wrong with that).
Cool guy. He still has it and still looks pretty good. I have to admit, i'm in Tucker's camp when it comes to Morbid Angel, even though my first MA album was Covenant in the early 90s, but Vincent is a true greatness of the genre. Looking forward to what's to come.

The best death metal vocalist of all time. You can actually understand what he's growling
He is a good musician and a amazing vocalist. I heard some country stuff he did and his voice is frigin perfect for it. He has got that sick awesome deep tone like Peter Steele. With Morbid his word annunciation was almost perfect in a live situation. Good bassist and keeps that bottom end rolling during intense parts of songs. He rarely falls of the track.
Would have been also a very good question. :) I also did interview with Benediction's Dave Ingram recently for the series and in that he speaks a bit about his beliefs...
Great questions and answers! Regarding what Mr. Vincent said at the end about being unique. I also crave for art which has its own style/atmosphere and agree with his point. However, if you are good looking, especially if you are female, you can achieve quite some success by covering songs and uploading videos of yourself playing them on social media.
Beautiful. I hear the true power in Evil Incarnate. HAIL BROTHER FOREVER 666. I can hear the true evil riffs in the songs and everything you sing and play comes from the soul. I can truly hear the genuine sound in your music
This was fucking fantastic!! It can get to the point where it can get so damn heavy it doesn't even seem like music anymore. That's the one thing I've always likes about everything David has done is that regardless of how heavy it gets he seems to maintain the musical aspect of it all. Great interview!!!
Davids vocals have always stood out to me. His voice and tone reminds me of the best sounding high gain guitar amp one could ever dream of. He has this level of clarity, power, and balanced distortion-like quality that I have never heard from anyone in the game….sonic timber or something like that. Awesome interview!
Regardless of genre I've always thought that vocalists and especially the vocalist front person variety are hybrid of Street Preacher meets performance artist... conviction, a sense of drama, and ability to read a crowd and deliver all essential components of being a strong front person. I've not seen David Vincent performing at least two decades now, and not in person but I have huge memories burned into my brain of seeing Morbid Angel on the blessed are the sick tour and just bought a magnetizing powerful entity he came off as leaving them through the set that evening. Remarkable.
Well, firstly because he's often worshipped and secondary because he's rumoured to have been a nazi sympathiser in the past. I don't know how true the latter is though.
@@ozricness idk about the nazy stuff he has a Salvadorian drummer hahaha and im from south america i did not get any impression of him being a racist or anything like it it was a very awesome 5 minutes talking about what ever but morbid angel
For a big, evil guy, he's one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I bumped into him a a Dean Guitars festival that my old band was playing and talked to him for a while. Then, a couple years later, I ran into him while I was an exhibitor at NAMM. He told me that he'd come by my booth later to hang out. He did, and stayed for about a half hour or so. As one of my major influences on bass and vocals, that was a very cool experience for me.
BOOMING 💥 BASS 🔊 VOICE DAVE VINCENT is IMMORTAL!!! He played Stand-up Bass with a Bow?!?!? Classical Talent....I would love to see him revisit some Morbid Angel songs with that Instrument- it would be so HAUNTING!!! ❤❤❤ MORBIES ❤❤❤ \M/
I've been a Morbid Angel fan since high school, and this was great to watch and to hear his perspective on music, theory, and doing music by feeling instead of theory. A lot of insight was said in this interview with his background. Very cool.
He is such a likable guy, well spoken. Even when he was getting blasted for the last Morbid Angel album he handled the criticism like a boss, very matter of fact and didn’t get nasty about it. I admire his demeanor and humility. It’s a shame things worked out the way they did for MA but I also love Steve Tucker so all is not lost. Great interview and great answers from the man himself…
He has the best death metal voice hands down very aggressive but still can understand what he’s saying. The cup method as he was saying is very true and I’m glad MA didn’t do that. He looks so much healthier than Trey so I guess that’s another reason for the split. I Am Morbid sounds so much better than what Trey is doing with MA imo 🤘🏻🤘🏻
