My personal rule is this ... Don't fall in love with your friends, or your best friend. Been there, done that. I lost a couple of best friends over this in the past, in the very beginning. My best friend is straight, and we spend inordinate amounts of time together. I love him, but I don't LOVE him. He just got engaged. So there's that! I had a friend some years ago, that we hung out 24/7 and one night, in a moment of grace, he told me that he loved me. Soon after he ran for the hills. I have friends who are attractive and I find them attractive for one reason or another. But I stick to my rule, I try not to think sexual or attraction thoughts about my friends. It saves me a lot of grief. I have a wall that goes up and I dare not cross it, because I know how some people react to the same things you said in this video. I'd rather have friends than lovers. But there is no harm and no foul in telling someone that you love someone. It might make their day.

The downside about feelings is that you don't really have a full control over your feelings; like you could never tell your feelings to NOT fall for straight men, or anyone in that matter.. so that sucks when you got to develop some feelings towards your straight good friend, it would most certainly never end on such a well note. But what Max said actually very on point though, you should totally be able to communicate with your good friends about anything, that's a healthy friendship should be. Damn, I’ve worked with my co-worker for more than 9 years, and just last year in 2018 I started to have these romantic feelings for him ever since he gave me this huge smile. I know for a fact that he does care and watch over me like a brother. Lately I’ve been saying to myself “why now?” All this time I’ve worked with him “why now?” I miss him when I don’t see him for over 2 days. One single text from him makes me happy. He does get touchy too and his touches are so tender and soft, especially when he runs his fingers through my shoulder while I’m working as he walks by. I know that he is comfortable around me. I love the way how he always easily finds a way to make me laugh and smile. He’s 43, never been married. Doesn’t have a girlfriend but always talks about women. i confessed with my straight friend and i told him that i'll take care of my feelings and there is no need to reciprocate. He is sport about it and we are still good friend though i tried my best not to see him in a regular basis to put a stop on my feelings. On the road of moving on hahahahah.

Forgetting this is an intentional story with actors, IF this conversation were to happen in real life, the light bulb would go on quick with Max. It would be up Max at that time, to be clear one way or the other. However, if a straight guy is "touchy" with a gay guy, as suggested in the story line, it comes down to one of two things: The straight guy is "teasing the gay guy as a game, playing with his emotions - which IMO, is cruel" OR the straight guy is interested. I have known gay guys where it is a "challenge" to get the "straight guy" to prove something. Please stop this, if it is a game to play with others emotions or prove your "gaydar", you will find yourself lonely and unhappy in the end. No one likes to be played either or any way. One other comment, I saw the other video with Daniel, being gay and Mexican. The best thing for the gay folks to "think about" is the possibility that not everyone in the world is against them. There will ALWAYS be someone who does 'Not like" you for some reason - get over it. IMO, if "gay is your path", let it BE your path and respect other's path. There is NOTHING wrong with preferring to be with someone of your own gender, that is NORMAL for you. Do NOT make excuses. Be happy, that is our goal in life.

I'm not sure I agree with Max's advice, as well intentioned as it was. Telling Straight Friend (SF) is not a bad idea, but Daniel is quite justified in worrying about the consequences. Gay panic is a very real thing, and gay men have gotten beaten (or worse) by straight men who felt threatened in one way or another. I'm not saying Daniel shouldn't have a talk with SF, but his fears are quite reasonable. Even if SF is totally fine with the admission, however, there is something else to consider; namely that he's not going to be able to support Daniel very much, no matter how hard he tries. Daniel has feelings that are likely going to lead nowhere, and it's probably going to be better if he and SF take a break from each other while Daniel works through those feelings, hopefully with the help of friends and others close to him. They may well be able to resume their friendship, later, but for now I think Daniel needs to limit his exposure while he heals. I do agree with Max, however, that the current situation is untenable. Daniel's friendship with SF has *already* changed, and it won't do either of them any good to pretend otherwise. Obviously, the fact that I just typed three paragraphs of commentary means I enjoyed this short film. :-) P.S. I would totally watch a documentary to distract myself from heartache, so, yay Max for suggesting it.

I fell in love with my best friend. The emotional overload was strickly one sided. I tried my best to stifle it, until he suggested that we move-in together. I broke down, telling him my true feelings. He broke down when I said that it would be best if I just went away, back east. Once we hugged and stoped crying, he agreed to continue to live apart if I agreed to stay. Bottom line is, as much as it hurt to let the cat out of the bag, it was truly the best thing to do. D.

Yeah, I've been there. My best friend at the time, the first guy I told I'm gay, and probably the best reaction I've ever had (his reply was "... And?", he was completely unphased by me coming out, despite us being acquaintances for like two weeks at the time). We hung out a lot, and I started to develop feelings for him, to the point I was finding it hard to not express them (like, actually kissing him). So, one day I just came out and told him. "Look, this is what's going on. I know you can't reciprocate, and I don't want to lose a friend by doing something stupid, so I need a few days to sort my c**p". We ended up just saying "hi" for a week, or so, until I managed to assimilate that, while he was a great catch, it was not the catch for me. At the end of the day, our friendship survived, and we're still good friends to this day. Not best friends because he lives ~5000Km away from me, but he's still one of the very few people I truly trust. Same thing happened with my ex. We dated for 3 years. In the end, it wasn't working. We broke it off, but kept the friendship. Those first couple of months SUCKED, because I wanted to vent, and the person I wanted to vent to was him, and that was not an option. Today, he's my best friend, and we still finish each other's sentences. It's weird, but we make it work, and our respective boyfriends know exactly where we stand on our relationship.

This is a perfect example of how people under 40 these days haveno communication skills because of technology and social media. Back in the 80s and 90s I've had experiences similar. You figure it out without saying. Like, hey you wanna come to my place and hangout after bar? He says sure. Woe Lah. He makes the move because it's private. It was very simple back then!!! You people are lost. Without Love.
