It's so refreshing to hear someone else open up about the struggles with dealing with bipolar disorder. It's a very taboo subject especially for Mom's! ❤️

Thank you and I can totally relate. I have bipolar disorder with severe depression, anxiety and panic disorder. Unfortunately my daughter has so much worse. She is diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, Schizophrenia with paranoia, panic disorder, and anxiety. She turned to alcohol and drugs to cope because medication was not working. But now at the age of 26 she is sober and clean. She is on medication that works. She is now 7 months pregnant and they had her stay on some of her meds and her and baby are doing great.

Thank you for opening up to us. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, Manic Depression and Anxiety in 1993. I went through so much during that time. I was hospitalized back then and it made me feel like I was really crazy. It was one of the worse times ever. My doctor had me on 7 different medications. I know what you have been through and I am so sorry. We can live a happy life even with a Bipolar Disorder. I love life and people and I never meet a stranger. God will be with us always. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for making this video. Mental health awareness is so important. Its funny because people always focus on their bodies yet often forget about their minds and how important it is to take care of ones mind / mental health. 🙏

Thank You for sharing your story Gina. I was diagnosed with what my Psychiatrist said is called unipolar disorder. My mood was only down. Serious depression. In 1984 Prozac wasn't even on the market so I was on class 2 drugs. I was 19. The side effects are drowsiness and weight gain. I didn't quite understand what was happening and it was hard to explain to my friends as I looked like I was being drugged up. At least that's what some of my friends thought. Skip to now. I'm going to be 54 in December and through therapy and medication I'm doing great. You do get to a point in your life where you don't give a hoot what people think because your close friends will understand. I used to have panic attacks often years ago but it's much better now. You are an inspiration to all who have mental illnesses. Keep up the good work. Prayers for you.

I think you are soooo courageous for being so honest and candid about your own personal experience with mental health. I heard a saying that we shouldn’t measure a person’s outsides with our insides and I try to be mindful of that because everyone is dealing with something. Again, thank you so much for sharing your story. I am confident that it will help so many people to know they are not alone.

Good for you and for your self realization and transparency! This is an encouragement to those of us who have mental health issues. I will always need counsel and meds. That's good with me. I'm more comfortable and less rigid with myself. Hopefully better company with others. God bless you Gina.( I'm in agreement with faith) I'm with you 💯% ❤️U🌞

I don't usually watch anything on RU-vid other than couponing videos or hauls. When I saw the title I watched right away. Thank you so much for this. You are awesome! And so strong. I was diagnosed a year ago and wanted to be medicated from day one. Just my personal choice. Due to side effects I haven't found the right combination of mood stabilizer and anti depressant. It gets rough. I understand the struggle. I appreciate your honesty and willingness to share. Thank you.

I suffer from depression and anxiety. It started when I was 10 and I moved away from the only home I’d ever known. It progressively got worse and after kids really got worse. I hid it from my husband, from a lot of people. The beginning of this year I decided I couldn’t take it anymore and went to my dr and got an antidepressant. It has certainly helped and opened my eyes 👀. You never know what someone is going through. They may look fine physically but mentally are dying inside. I’m still learning how to cope and have noticed my triggers so I’m working on that too. Couponing gives me anxiety but also makes me happy. Thank you for being open about it. A great support team makes all the difference.

Thank you for this video. I totally can relate to bipolar disorder as I was diagnosed 2013. I am on antidepressant as well as a mood stabilizer. You are right saying anxiety comes with this disease. I first started with anxiety and panic attacks in 1998. For years Dr's diagnosed me with manic depression. Finally different Dr's diagnosed me correctly which made a huge difference. I could talk abt this forever. I just want to thank you again for this video. It definately hit home.

I have bipolar too, I have been living with it since the age of eleven but wasn't diagnosed until I was twenty. I've survived three suicide attempts and a hospitalization. I'm 38 now and by looking at me or talking to me casually no one would ever know. I've chosen to be extremely open about it because I want to educate people and also because I want other people with mental illnesses to know that they aren't alone. Thank you for sharing; the more we all speak up, the more people will become aware and the less stigma there will be. Also, I get the paranoia about people being mad at me or not liking me, too, even when I'm stable. It really sucks. :(

Thank you for sharing your story! My father had bipolar disorder and so does my son. The struggle is real and you are facing it head on, I feel that is so important. My dad was a wonderful dad, he had bad days but always made the effort to get back on track as best he could... I adored him! My son struggles greatly and has chosen to go unmedicated which isn't working so well but he is an adult now so I have to respect his decision. He also will rant for long periods of time. Hopefully he can find a balance like you did.... I don't want to sound condescending but I am proud of you for sharing, I bet you will help someone with this video even if they never share that with you. Thank you!

First of all, how incredibly humble and couragious of you to openly talk about mental illness!! Wow. Im so greatful fornyou opening about what most people still thinknis a taboo. I have self diagnosed with depelression and anxiety after soooo many years of thinking I was "crazy". I have a very small circle and sadly not all of them understand how intense those episodes can get. I know my triggers and I work on staying positive and sorround myself with only positive people. Not easy but doable. Thank you for feeling comfortable about this and as long as we know that there is always going to be mean and negative and ignorant people.....we are not the problem....they are. Im not ashamed of my flaws and imperfections....it makes me who I am and that is..... A great mom, advocate, friend and a good wife. Keep up the good job and continue doing what you know and God bless you!!!

Thank you opening up amd sharing. I have anxiety and have been dealing with it since 01 when I started college. Mine is triggered by stress. It makes me feel like I am having a heart attack. I was on medicine to help with it. I've have had to find alternative ways to work through it as the one I was on is linked to Alzheimer's. I have multiple members of my family that had Alzheimer's so that has been a struggle getting off of it. Plus stress at work was at an all time high earlier this year. I've been using my workouts and gardening as a stress reliever. Lately its been manageable but a daily struggle. Thank you for the encouragement!!!

Thank you so much for sharing, Gina. I think it is so important to be able to share what we have been through, or are going through, to hopefully help and encourage others .You are a strong woman to share with such honesty and openness. We surely need more understanding and education about emotional disorders. I have suffered from disabling anxiety,, and comments such as “ just relax” or “ you’re not trusting God enough” were not helpful, encouraging or kind. When I finally found medication that worked, and a pastoral councilor who told me that it was just the way God knit me together, and was my “thorn in my side”, I was able to let go of the shame and look for ways I could use it for good! It is extremely difficult to hear someone loosely use terms for their everyday day normal worries, inconveniences or stresses. Personally, when the term “ I had a panic attack” is casually said, I want to scream “ No you didn’t, and I hope you never do! “ Again, thank you for sharing! ❤️ from Leesburg

I'm very aware of my surroundings. I'm always looking for exits in case something happens. Sometimes I feel like I'm a bad mom because I feel like I rubbed off on my 13year old. She's very shy and scared to do things and it makes me feel like I did that to her. I have been on medication for 3 years now and yes its changed my life. I think environmental change is a huge trigger especially if you are not around your loved ones anymore. You lose everything that is familiar and that can be very scary. The paranoid stuff goes away over time when you just stop caring what people think. Age can help with that. Age fixes a lot of things.

Wow gina! So proud of you! Some of the things you discussed hit home I never knew for example like u said looking for an exit and such is catagorized as anxiety because I constantly am thinking things like that and never knew there was a name for it I thought I was just paranoid....thank you for being brave and opening up about this topic.....I had a really close friend or so I thought we were close and one day we were working and I told her I went to get medicine for depression and she totally talked crap behind my back to alot of people😑 and at the time I was so embarassed to have told her because this was 13 years ago and ur right people really didnt understand or have open minds...so I never went back again which probably explains the hott mess I have going on with myself for all these long years😉 again thank u for being brave and bringing awareness to mental health and that it's ok and it doesn't make someone a bad person for suffering! 💜💜💜💜

I am so glad that you were strong enough to make this video. I suffer from major depressive disorder and anxiety. I am probably borderline bipolar just with what you were saying. I know exactly where you're coming from. I went through a divorce and losing my dad this past year. I know that my illness was probably the cause of my divorce of twenty years. I yelled a lot and now I see what my triggers are with anxiety. Does couponing ever make you have anxiety? I love to coupon, and it in some weird way relaxes me. However, I get VERY anxious and lose it when something goes really bad. I cry and yell with my anxiety. Thanks again. I feel very alone and that nobody understands what I go through. thanks Gina.

Thanks for sharing. Outwardly, I understand the struggle. Why? My oldest son is bipolar. While I do not and would not want to know what goes on inside his head(I am quite sure its a scary scary place to be), I do know first hand what it is like for those of us that love a person with BPD. All you can do is the best you can do, day in and day out, hour by hour if necessary. My son was diagnosed at 7. He is about to turn 26. Since he was 18 he hasn't been on meds. He needs to be on meds. He absolutely refuses to take them. Luckily, he knows when things are getting bad so he comes straight to me. He knows I can talk him "down off the ledge". He doesn't live with me. The medication is life saving when you find the right combination. Its all pretty new for you, so just remember, this is a process. Just know you will change medication periodically. Try to remember every medication they put you on with your side effects. I suggest you keep it written down. Put it in a place where your husband, A knows where it is and B can get his hands on it. You just never know when you will need it. Keep it current. You can't imagine how many meds my son was on in the years he did take his meds. Ugh.
