I was a high school senior and college freshman at the same time, i recieved a 4.0 in college my first year and a 4.5 in high school, heres my tips: Notes & revision: Type your notes. Ask questions of yourself throughout. After class rewrite notes by hand, answer your own questions and create flashcards on important concepts. By revision time you will have a bunch of q & a’s as well as flashcards relevant to each unit. As for math, take all notes by hand. After class practice problems and answer questions. For any problems you had difficulty with or could not solve, create a flashcard with the problem and solution, attach a sticky note with a simple explanation. For revision you now know exactly witch problems to solve and which units to review. For all classes. For any units you weren’t present for, were fuzzy on, or just weren’t paying attention to, leave a red sticky flag in the notes or textbook chapter. Optional step is to leave a sticky note with the specifics of what you don’t understand. This makes revision easier. - As far as organizing your papers: Keep each classes papers organized first by category then by date. My categories were graded homework, graded classwork, professors passed out notes, and syllabus& important info. I keep it all in the same binder for each class, but have it all separated and organized by date. Keep any essays separate from homework in the back of the binder. Keep the graded copy. Keep all the work you do there and use it for revisions, don’t throw anything out until you graduate. Store the binders, they come in handy. You can trash your handwritten notes cause you have a digital copy. - Class list: Your brain is wired to be more logical in the morning and creative in the afternoon, so plan maths and sciences in the morning and english and lib arts in the afternoon. It really helped me to have my fun classes last. It gives you some motivation to actually go. So there you go, hope it helps
Hailey Coles there is nothing to be nervous about! College functions differently and, in my opinion, better than high school so even when the content is harder, its easier to learn. The more effort and time you put in to your studies and extracurriculars, the more you will get out of them. This is your chance to study what you want on your own terms, so take up on all your opportunities and never be afraid to learn and grow as a student and an individual.
the plastic sheet protectors are really nice to study with if you use expo markers or sharpies and you can circle things you want to come back to and then just erase it when you're done
I like to take physical notes on my notebook because writing things down helps me memorize the best. If I just type stuff on my laptop, I only care about typing everything down while convincing myself that I’ll revise later, which I never do, whereas I automatically remember things when writing them down on a paper/notebook. With that said, I do find digital notes a lot easier to organize and add/delete stuff from. If I wanna “organize” my physical notes, most of the time I have to rewrite them, but that wouldn’t be a problem if I take notes on a laptop/tablet. 😃
Another tip would be to download the powerpoint, go to Print and “Print as an Outline” It takes all the text without the backgrounds and etc. And puts it in the same looking format as you used in the video. Plus you can later scan the document and write on top of it!
Most people don’t have the discipline to use their computer for only note taking during class. Plus more often than not those typing their notes retain far less of the info in comparison to those writing. Instead of understanding the material they are just concerned with getting every word typed out.
An alternate to this is taking notes on your ipad. I use an app called Noteability and all my notes are handwritten on my iPad. In my opinion it’s like the best of both worlds.

You are so right about professors being sneaky. There is this one time my teacher was talking and I was like out of nowhere writing everything down. The day of the test/exams came and I am one of them who got about 95/100 or 100 because I have had to study until I understood. Everyone was wondering like how are you getting the highest scores when some are not in the text or whatever, and I am like the teacher just said it during lectures. My teacher was like that's what you call a good listener. I like your study tips and organization.
I love your videos you inspire me to do notes because sometimes in class I forget to take notes in class so in lecture I try to remember everything that she says or he says in class!!! And that way I will be able to remember what she says!!!

I’m starting to use erasable pens to help me take notes so when I review I can erase something I wrote and rewrite it instead of scratching it out! I have to take written notes in class because we aren’t allow to use a laptop because it’s a small class and the typing is loud :(
Doing bad my 1st semester of college. I had to withdraw one class and it’s a general biology class because I don’t understand much of it because of a poor studying method. I need to retake It honestly.

If elementary middle and high school can pay for thousands of textbooks I think every College can. Professors say there going to use textbooks but never even touch them.
