Thanks so much, not only are you an excellent drummer (I've checked out all of your videos with you on acoustic kits) but you're very kind to share that info on google drive. Kudos to you sir!!
@@_t2x Well thats part of the issue. Because the ehat is so heavy, you have set the tension unnaturally and uncomfortably tight and high and for me just didnt feel right and set me off balance.
As already commented below can’t really see the pictures you took. We’ve had great difficulty getting semi open and sounds like you do at 3:10-3:20 with hi hat. Any chance you can list the settings you have made? You’ve achieved the best quality hihat sound I can find for the Alesis strike pro!
Ditch the moveable HH and get a DM pedal. I no longer have these settings because I dont use a hihat stand! ALL moveable e hats all suck. The link to my video on that is above
Otherwise if you insist on using the real HH stand method, you can still get the idea from this video I suggest a log 1 top pedal curve now and log 3 on bottom. start with pedal sens at 65 and thjen experiment. read the manual and understand ALL settings . The pedal curves detyermine the ability to get semi open sounds as do the actual voices in some cases
I actually used your adjustments for HH, and it got me pretty close to spot on,ty I've gotten brave and started digging in the settings, lol ty for your response and videos
Im so saving up for one of these. My goal is quiteness and easy recording but also to have it look and feel lile an acoustic as much as possible and i think this one might be able to do it for me
Read the description aboive and there are clearer pics in a supplied link. Main thing read the manual and learn it. No one told me and I figured it out
@AllenLind so what's the point of this video? Just to tell people "Hey, I'm not going to bother helping any of you out because I had to do it on my own, so you're on your own too!"
Hey brother, I am using all your recommended settings and they seem great. I am having HH issues though. One, it keeps spinning, but more importantly, when I hit the edge it doesn't usually detect edge. When I hit the bell it detects the edge. Any ideas? Thanks!
Yea the bell triggers the edge sound.. just how it is.. I wouldn’t use it though. The bell really isn’t a supported zone and you could hear the electronics which are under the be. Are you using a real HH or status with pedal controller? For real HH the clutch should prevent spinning as it has a build in spin stopper. If you using static on a regular stand I took one of the stoppers fro Another cymbal and cut it flat at top to fit the HH but actually just switch the HH cymbal with a crash and use ITS spin stopper and put the HH on a reg mount and since your using a a crash, it won’t spin much if any… you can also try a star lock washer
hi, allen. it seems that there is no good way to set the metronome on the strike module besides approximating a tap. is that correct or is there a better way to set an exact bpm? i just don't see it and can't find it on youtube. also, there doesn't seem to be a good voice count on the metronome to practice odd time signatures, either - i've had to resort to looping wave files that count for me haha any help you or anybody can provide on this topic would be greatly appreciated
@@leeknivek oh, i just realized that you can use the scroll wheel while holding down the tempo button to change the bpm. that's the part i didn't know. it'd be more intuitive if the bpm section is highlighted on the screen when the tempo button is either pressed or held down it's odd that i upgraded from the first generation of the alesis crimson, which has a voice count (this helped me learn 3/4 time for church), and the strike "pro" doesn't have a voice count...
I must not have my hi hat far enough up the drive shaft and away from the controller cause when mine is closed it don’t have that nice sloshy sound it sounds tingy with no ring out at all and sounds awful!! I meant to send you a video but my kids got me really sick on my days off so I didn’t get to do anything on my drums
Just give up on using a real hihat. Get an alesis DM CONTINUOUS pedal. Watch my DM pedal video. But yea, you need extremely tight spring and very high action to get it even in the ballpark. Not natural to me
greetings, I speak Spanish I am traditional. but wanted to know if i could get that setting. is that I could not see the exact numbers well to be able to set my Alesis strike pro. thanks
I recently bought the same drum set and using a couple different type of splitters, I added a mirror HH on the right side (also controlled by the left foot HH) a second mirrored ride for my left hand, an additional mirrored crash, and lastly I pilfered the sound from the floor tom rim and used in on a 9" Lemon splash that I bought. You just go in and edit it to a splash or anything I guess. So I added four more instruments and it only cost me that floor rim sound. I just reused my old cymbals from the Roland TD-9 I have, they all are all rack mounted. It's easy and it adds a lot to the set without taking much away. Just a heads up, I didn't even know it could be done till I saw a video on youtube and it changed everything. The splitters work great.
As long as you don't mind losing the rims splitters are great. I split tom 1 rim for a splash (alesis dm pad 12 cymbal) and the tom 3 rim that I hooked to a roland BT-1 Bar Trigger for sidestick on snare. Otherwise for me, thats all I need as the kit more than satisfis what I need as far as pieces!
@@AllenLind I love being able to ride with my left or right hand so that second ride is great. I'm a left handed human, right handed drummer, ambidextrous rider. The stereo mirror is cool cause you duplicate the ride and the crash, but you don't have to use the rim sound, you just mirror it at no musical cost. Now if I could only have that coveted sparkle purple that doesn't yet exist.
@@robertkees6048 right a ‘y’ jack will mirror whatever trigger it’s connected to! I guess Elise is keeping only one color keeps the price down. There are a couple companies that make customer wraps for the strike and from what I’ve seen the prices aren’t too bad. However you have to take them all apart in order to put them on which for me is too much of a pain in the ass lol
@@AllenLind I thought about wrapping them, but they look good in red and I really don't want to tear them all apart for that. I'll just wear some tinted glasses.
Nice job mate. They sound way better than mine! Haha But I can’t quite make out your photos of the settings. Any chance you could send a clearer image of them to me? I want to put the same settings into my module. Cheers
Read the manual and play with the settings you can’t read. The manual hold all the secrets. Do what I did. Work on it and get it right for YOUR playing
So what… ever here of a volume control? Besides RU-vid normalizes all audio so deal with it and earn from the content. I did you all a favor putting it out so up to if you want to use it. Also read the description
@@AllenLind My volume was maxed. Maybe if you take some good advice and improve your audio you'll attract and retain more than 715 subscribers. If you know anything about audio (as a drummer) then you should know this and don't get all defensive about it. My advice was a favor to YOU. I can just watch a different video but your audio signal still sucks.
I don’t care about subscribers. The fact that I have this many at all is because of these strike videos and unfortunately you’re one of the only ones that complain. Don’t know if you only strike drum set or not but if you do maybe try to learn something
@@AllenLind It's a good thing you don't care about subscribers....you know, for the videos you're making and posting on RU-vid with terrible audio. That's a lot of work for not caring about views/subs.
@@spacep0d No one else has complained... Its the content and besides man, I checked, not the best quality but good enough for people to get the info. I made the video on a whim quickly at the time to help a lot of users who were having a lot of issues. I had reasonable success with the Strike HH but eventually moved to a pedal controller which I also made a very popular video about (See the DM pedal video). My goal with these is to just quickly share my knowledge for what ive learned by using the Strike Pro SE. The audience for these vids is pretty specialized. My actual RECORDED LIVE FROM OVER THE HILL music videos however are of EXCELLENT quality! Check those out! Here's a cool playlist . These are what I would prefer to rack up views.... ru-vid.com/group/PLWMSKolvMwTpjlfmSHzqkdh-W2bbl2y0L
You can see enough to get started and read the manual. I don’t use the strike or any moveable controller anymore cause they all suck. If you read the update I explain this . Watch my DM pedal Video. Otherwise learn how to use the module and lean what the pedal curves do!!! Ultimately not my problem. You could try these by again, I use a dm10 pedal controller drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-DXtFqNFXouFWkLMckoJtoG0jDmXp74D
Well most people found this very helpful so maybe you need glasses.. HOWEVER , obviously you DIDNT READ THE DESCRIPTION WHERE I HAVE A LINK TO CLEAR PICS!! THESE WILL GET YOU IN BALLPARK Also the hihat stand controller is also USELESS. I use a DM continuous pedal controller now and have for 3 years+. In the same description you DID NOT read, the is a link to a vid on that. I'm also betting you did NOT read the manual/user guide you can download from the Alesis roduct page so you get what you give... You MUST read at east 3 times while sitting at your kit. IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND THE PARAMETERS YOU WILL NEVER GET ANY OF THIS RIGHT. Good luck and try reading other comments. Youre in the minority PS - On the pdel triggers, try LOG1 or EXP 1 on the top curve and either LOG 2 or 3 on the bottom. Depends on your playing but the hihat stand controller ALL suck - roland, goedrum etc - at least in this range. ALSO - Balance the foot level with the overall hihat sounds to get realistic close and chick. The the HH has 3 sounds. Edge, Bow and Foot
