I'd love to see a video on how you choose WHEN to schedule classes, how you choose the LENGTH of the classes? How do you make your classes INTERACTIVE for the students? I felt like I just talked to my student the one class I have taught. She was older though. Another weird question I have is, do you LOOK at the camera on your computer or the learner who is talking? I don't know which one to look at so that I look engaged to the student. As a new teacher (I have only taught one class in the spring and plan to go full on in August) I have so many questions. I would also love a video on how to really use ZOOM in the Outschool setting. Like, how do you switch between learners? Do you ever make pre-filmed content? How do you add graphics or powerpoints? What I mean is, how do you add them to the zoom lesson? So many questions!

Right now, I'm only teaching about ten 30 minute Outschool classes a week. When I am waiting for students, I usually just play a quick game on my phone to get my brain going. 🤪

When I moved from Virginia to Miami a few years ago, I got my cats new carriers, made them super cozy, and left them out for them to use. To this day , they love to nap in them. It’s still tricky capturing them to go to the vet though. But once they are in their carrier, they rarely make a peep.

I had a few golden kiwis when I lived in Korea and they were amazing. Not sure if that's the same thing that you got, but give it a try! I've been taking a break from most of my Outschool classes bc I was getting a little burned out (plus my schedule was a bit wonky from visiting family here and there in the summer months), but I will be revamping them and starting back up again in fall. Seeing you talk about your schedule always makes me itching to get back to it, though.

How long is your Outschool break for? My 2 weeks off in June were HEAVENLY!

@@KristensClassroom I'm still teaching a couple ongoing classes except the weeks that I'm out of town, but around 6 weeks off total! I've upped my VIPKID teaching in the meantime for a change of pace. Less pay per hour for sure, but basically no prep and the option of short-notice when I have unexpected free time Fri/Sat evenings, so I don't mind it as a back-up. It has definitely been wonderful to just teach a bit in the morning and then have my days class-free for the most part, though! Part of the reason for the long Outschool break is that I'm restructuring a few of my pre-existing classes into a totally different structure. I teach Korean, and I'm going to try doing a flipped class structure, where I introduce the concept via videos and worksheets, and then we just meet weekly to practice the skills conversationally. I think it'll work better for the students, but it's a lot of work on the front end for me while I make all of the new materials. It should work out well in the end, though, since I'll be busy once my university teaching starts up in the fall, and it'll allow me to concentrate the in-person Outschool meetings to one afternoon per week. We'll see how it goes!

My out school summer schedule goes around my toddlers naptime or if my hubby is off work. I average $110 a month. Not amazing, but not too bad with only working like 5-10 hours a month.

Another snag in the sale, we need to get an structural engineer to verify that the house foundation is still good, or if repairs are need. It is no longer a sellers market in San Antonio it is a buyers market.
