What I really like about this is that it's not just another restrictive "guide" to which sunglasses match your face shape, but rather an impressive showcase that you are free to wear any frames if you size them right. A refreshing approach.
I’d love a skillshare class in advanced color/pattern variations (ie Houndstooth jacket, paisley tie). A broad and personal category but with guidelines that would be fun to deep dive iyo
I am also fond of the idea of wearing sunglasses according to it's size and not thinking so much about it's shape. Although the shape of your glasses counterbalance or emphasize the face features, it's possible to wear any shape as long as it doesn't look way out of proportion. My favourites on your collection are the Persol 649 and the Chopard.
I thought about many different ways to say this but decided to say it as it is: I read a comment awhile back about how conversations now are being more technology involved. It's as if the evolution of language is increasingly becoming more expressed through technology. Whereas once it was through face to face. This got me thinking about 'language' and 'conversations'. For example if I met you in person Brian, I'd love to talk about philosophy, how it has evolved and the current state and which is accepted more. For instance how Nihilism is now gaining momentum and is being displayed more often in cinema. For example 'Joker', 'Shegure' from no country for old men. Then I'd love to talk about 'Hegelian Dialectics'. That's when it hit me, even as I write this to you Brian, I never truly had a good, honest, deep, intellect conversation with anyone face to face. If at all the most emotional depth of a conversation would be through 'memes', it's fun to read and often good source to laugh at but it gets strange when the langauge used for conversation gets filled with 'lols', 'derp', 'simp', etc. Even as I type this, I first mentioned I'll 'say' it like it is but I have written these words not 'said' any of these words to you face to face. Final words: Its a great strength to use humor. At your life situation. It gives you strength. But the main point being is the most intimate, intellect, thought provoking conversations have left the natural way and if so is it a good or a bad thing? Would be a great topic if you run out of ideas to discuss wherever you want to Brian.Take care, stay safe man. Love your content.
great point on the size. I'm also not a big guy, and most glasses made me feel like i was somehow wearing my father's sunglasses, when i got my first pair of properly sized (52's for me) everything finally clicked. I tend to wear RayBans because i just like them, and they fit, and had to just get over the fact they are everywhere. A rose by any other name....
I’m a huge fan of Persol. I think I might have to get a pair of Randolph Engineering ones love those bayonet arms! A couple of my favourites are the Taylor Morris Rollright. Great video as usual Brian.
I truly think your videos are more visually appealing when you sit casually to the side and are viewed from waist up with Fred Astaire picture in background. You make better hand gestures etc. Looks far better than the head and shoulder shot (look like a newscaster) you’ve been doing lately. Not a criticism just an observation as your channel is absolutely my favorite.
Man, the John Varvatos look sharp on you. That would be my go-to frame if I had to choose, they're just so distinct. A real statement piece. Great taste as always, Brian!
I've been looking at sunglasses for almost a month and this comes up! Ended up getting a pair of square clubmasters. Great video, one of my favourite channels out there!
I completely agree there are those guides but it’s totally the size ! I hate those rules b/c I got so many compliments on glasses I never thought I could wear but the size for my temples !
Best line: "Live with it, just kidding, mostly." haha Love the Moscot Lemtosh - would you happen to know what size yours are? We have a similar shaped face. Thanks bud!
What I mean by most popular is that Ray Bans and Sunglasses are like interchangeable words. So I have to give credit where it's due..and also they are very good sunglasses.
Haha what timing, I was just going over your old sunglasses video. It's a great collection, Brian! I don't wear glasses normally, and I've had little use for sunglasses in Korea (only for driving), so my collection is very limited. I've got a pair of Ray-Ban aviators and a pair of wayfarers from Karl Lagerfeld, but the wayfarers have reflective coating on them which makes them a bit too cool for everyday use I think. The sun's out a little longer and taller here in NY so maybe I'll invest in one more for every day use - perhaps a more toned down wayfarer? Anyway the new videos have been great, it must be difficult to come up with new ideas in these difficult and weird times. Hope you keep up the excellent work! - Han
Thanks, as always, Han. I might look at Cubitts sun collection. Those are the optical frames I wear and they're not such a huge brand that everyone wears them so it's classic but unique at the same time.
It would be nice to get your take on the "made in x country" when something is made in italy do you feel the quality is always there vs made in china etc.
@@hespokestyle well, I'd get them and often times forget where they were left. I unfortunately have the habit of purchasing multiple styles and often times brands and rotate as they are lost or broken or loaned out. Lol
Finally I found a video that validates my choice of frames and even colored lenses. Even otherwise, I love your style which is very different from the modern day style RU-vidrs who all look, talk and follow the same stuff without having a style of their own. Keep up the good work!
nice vid, I actually said to myself I man of your style wouldn't have aviators. interesting how you'd pair that with your outfit. Vid on how you'd mate shapes with outfit maybe?
I recently started a sunglasses collection to include Jacque Marie Mage Dealan 53, Eyevan 786, Thierry Lasry - Rhude, Tom Ford Snowden’s, Persol, and ( of course ) Ray-Ban Wayfarer.
I am quite impressed by your large collection of sunglasses! For many years I only wanted Oliver Peoples eyeglasses or sunglasses as I think they are different and more stylish than many other brands. But more recently I have bought some Persol sunglasses, and I like them very much. Your Garrett Leight sunglasses are nearly the same model as the ones that I have from Oliver Peoples! Now you should make a video about your eyeglasses! I am sure you also have a great collection.
One of the many things I like about Brian is if you watch some of his very first videos he still looks super cool, that ladies and gents is what you call call style! (not fashion)
I'd like to add Oakley Frogskins. They're the only brand that looks good and stays on my face while golfing. I have some of these other fancier brands but I love having a pair of Frogskins around to take with me golfing or to the beach.
Good selective collection. Thank you for sharing your own style. I own these: Electric Hardknox - Black Moscot - Lemtosh - Tortoise Raybans - Wayfarer - Tortoise 9FIVE - Belmont Black, Gold - Gradient 9FIVE - Dean Black Fade Clear Lens Tom Ford - Dax Square Acetate - Black
He Spoke Style Thank you for answering🙏🏼. I do own a clubmaster and I wear size 51. What about your clubmasters size? So I can approximate our face sizes please.
Great video but it is true that some people can’t wear certain shapes. Yours seems to be pretty oval which is the most versatile, but I have an extremely wide square jaw with a thinner forehead and for some reason the only ones that work for me are larger on the top than the bottom
Great vid. What size are your Persol 649 and Moscot LEMTOSH WITH CABERNET TINT? I want to add Moscot Lemtosh to my collection but I’m not sure what size I should go for. My Persol 649 are 52 20 135 and fit me well. Btw, if you want to add some quality high end vintage sunglasses to your collection look into Cartier Vendome (Santos, Laque, LC) or Fred American Cup.
Great video Brian! How'd you get your RetroSpecs USS Vintage sunglasses online? there doesn't seem to be an option to purchase from the company website
