As a Sega kid, I still have a lot of love and admiration for this console. This and Genesis released during a time where as a kid you could only ask your parents for 1 console, and whatever you didn't get you just went to that kid in the neighborhood who got the other one lol. It was a great generation of gaming especially for arcade style games

Then there would be that rich kid that had both sega and super nintendo lol. Games were really expensive for the time too. Pretty much everyone was picking them up used from blockbuster or the local grocery store. The only official "NES" I saw as a kid was a Famicom that a friend of mine with japanese parents had as import. Oficially here It was only SMS, SMS, SMS. I knew NES was something in US because of movies like The Wizard. But It was weird when I started to read about, watch AVGN and so much content about NES History on US, that I finally saw how huge NES was in America. I mean, It was the only console. @@3xperiment8 oh yeah, NES was ginormous in the states, and Nintendo was not into the idea of competition at all. so much so that they told 3rd party companies like Konami, Capcom, etc that if they worked with SEGA, Nintendo would no longer work with them. which is why SEGA mostly had to push out their own games for the SMS, because very few companies dared to call Nintendo's bluff.

I'll never forget seeing Pilotwings on a demopod at an electronics store around '91/'92.. I was totally blown away at age 13. It became my first SNES title as soon as i owned one myself! Love the system, too bad i sold it long ago to get the money for a N64. Ultimate faves: Pilotwings, F-Zero, Super Probotector/Contra 3 (i'm in Europe), Super Mario World, Rock n' Roll Racing.

Very impressive snes collection there MJR! I saw a few of my (Hidden) gems from back in the days. We had quite a few lesser popular games which we really enjoyed, like NHLPA 93, Desert Strike, dino city, soccer kid, international superstar soccer, jimmy connors tennis, so many cool memories!

I never played much snes growing up. Then I got the SNES classic and I knew I needed the system lol. So I picked one up at a local retro gaming shop here in tri cities Washington. My most recent pick up was UN squadron I found at a little shop in Everett WA. I've now got about 20 games and the super gameboy for my GB collection. Easily one of my favorite systems!!!

For my money, the following games are better on Snes than the Genesis, Mortal Kombat 2, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Sunset Riders, Turtles In Time, Turtle Tournament Fighters, I do enjoy Castlevania 4 more because it has better controls. Can say Street Fighter 2 as well because of the controller, probably more, but can't think of any right now.

A game you absolutely NEED in your collection is Goof Troop. One of the best co-op games on the system, but still a ton of fun on your own. Also one of the best soundtracks for any game period. Can be picked up pretty cheap, and highly recommended for anyone that liked Link To The Past.

I love the SNES, that generation has a great balance that no other system generations have achieved. The Sega Genesis has many shoot'em ups from Toaplan, so its a hard competition between that and the SNES, but i lend slightly more to Sega because i mostly play Truxton and MUSHA than Axelay or... Axelay, i love Axelay lol

Have both the SNES & NES with a nice game collection tucked away in a box. They’re both plugged in today (along side the NES & SNES classic consoles). There’s just something about having the physical copies for that era. Also own a SMS in the original box/styrofoam with about 15 games. Tested it a while ago and it still works! Retro rocks!

Some notable one are Contra 3, TMNT, Megaman X, x2, ff3, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RpG, DK, and several others. I'm glad I didn't sell them for store credit.
