What if there was nothing to react to? What then?
Cutting up the video, pausing and giving opinions, reading a donation every 5 minutes... anything you do is bloody pointless. You're still only watching a video. The viewers do not trickle down and your face is getting plastered onto the work of other people. Hell, your reaction isn't even worth anything anymore because you barely even react. Thousands of people all watching one person watch one video still counts as one view in the algorithm. The chances of getting recommended start being flushed down the drain the moment someone else "reacts" to it. Not only that, you can just keep reacting to one person's reaction towards a video like a paradox. So why react to so many different videos? Just make a video, react to it and keep reacting to your own reactions. If reaction content is that self sustaining, you don't need to leech off the work of others.
Vid was made with the aid of:
‪@Jocab‬ and Cabanela from the Jocab Discord server.
Seriously, sub to Jocab. He's a great content creator.

I guess the only benefit given by reaction content is giving the original creator some attention from wider audiences But unless the viewer directly clicks on the reacted video, quite regularly their video doesn't get suggested and the reactor channel itself gets reacted instead. Max0r said something similar in an interview about it and says he doesn't like it much either, as you said it's almost a purely parasitic form of c

But why wouldn't these scumbags abuse hundreds of hours actual youtubers put into editing their videos when they can simply spend 10 minutes "reacting" to something with practically no downsides?

Because videos with hundreds of hours put into editing them are more likely of higher quality which will net the reactor more views.

I remember this channel called ReactionTime where they would find some bizzare or funny stuff to react. Back then it was something like 2014 where people couldn't find these stuff just by surfing the web. These guys somewhat helped those stuff to blow up. On the other hand, fuck that beech that has sniper and wolf on her name.

Yeah, I remember seeing my younger cousins watching ReactionTime and got absorbed into it for a bit. Didn't take long for me to start thinking "would I rather watch some guy watching someone else? I'm already doing that..."
