My favorite way to show the “pussification” of games is Borderlands. 1 and 2 had no problem calling the enemies “Midget psycho.” 3 comes out and they change them to “Tinks” to be PC. Also it went so gay, that the literal only cut scene you cannot skip in all of Borderlands 3 is two men kissing.

I got banned from all my EA games, some of which I bought over 10 years ago, for seven whole days for calling someone a bad word in chat on Apex Legends after he had been abusing me over voice chat for a couple of minutes. It was ONE TIME when I lost my cool, and it was just the "r-word". In the mail I got from EA, they also warned me that if it were to happen again, I could permanently lose access to all my games. That's hundreds of dollars worth of games - many of them single player games - that I have a right to play being taken away from me for saying a couple of bad words in ONE video game. How that could possibly be legal I have no idea.

Modern gaming is nothing short of the big “P” word. Greedy console brands, (mainly So.ny) made it their objective to sell as many consoles as possible even if they weren’t played and made sure the games could reach as much of a large audience as possible. That’s why they are all so dead on easy, censored, movie like and mono toned. The remake games over the past 2 console generations have been parody of themselves and took everything that made them great then threw them off a cliff. (Resident-Evil, FF-7 and now Silent Hill 2 and Meta Gear 3). Games aren’t meant to entertain more than they are to fill a quota (yeah THOSE kinds) and movie copies even if they aren’t necessarily good. Review scores are brought, hype can be pushed and any critical opinions silenced. It’s a self-fulfilling prophesy that went mainstream and gamers who remember a better time are forced to look in the mirror and say “I love Big Brother”.

Not sure I agree with "short", but they were definitely impactful. Modern games have meandering summaries that have the vibe of originally being feature bulletpoints, then the boss walks in and says "hey now, you were supposed to write a 100 word summary!" And rather than starting over, the woman or gay man writing it, with the skill set of someone who's never written in their life and only managed to reach adulthood because of being protected from natural selection, tries to stretch out the bulletpoints into a summary. It's always bland, and always overstays its welcome. Many older game descriptions started with one or two powerful taglines to grab the gamers attention, followed by a summary of the plot, usually done in a style that reflects the feel of playing the game, rather than just describing what you'll be doing. A game from the 00's would have a summary along the lines of "Merc the Devil! The world is about to end, and the only chance at salvation rests on the shoulders of Flint Steel. Along with your gang of mercenaries, push back the armies of Satan, bring light back to the world, and learn what truly separates man from monster." The same game released today would have a description more akin to "uh oh, the devil's lost his temper again! Go on an adventure with your buddies as you beat 8 harrowing levels! Use the new and entirely original glider to find new ways to approach levels, and encounter never before seen enemy types and powerups! Just remember to follow your heart, and every little thing will be alright!" I truly wish that that were an exaggeration, but if anything, that may be giving too much credit to games from the 2020's.

Unless u want to play in a tiny community thru discord etc, or have a big group of friends with the exact same game interest, you just have no options anymore. Have to change hobbies (which is probably a good thing) but still sucks. However the appeal of female characters wasn't just the looks factor (although it was and kinda still is, the main factor), it was the character's backstory or drive/motivation. Yeah you'll get the occasional hypersexual individuals who don't care but for the most part many of the popular female game characters have depth to them rather than just being looks. Samus is a great example (although we didn't know what she looked until much later, people liked the character before she was revealed to be a woman, in fact her popularity skyrocketed). Not only is she badass and has amazing games, she's hot- just like many of the male leads, they're hot and they're badass. People often forget that "Appealing to the female audience" is also a huge thing. Leon Kennedy anyone? Also, people (especially women) don't wanna "look good for themselves" they do it for the validation and attention of other people. Humans, like many other animals, are social creatures by nature. Even if you dress for yourself there's still a part of you deep down inside that cares about what other people think. Now the level of care for other people's validation varies from person to person but everyone cares even if it's slightly. You caring or not caring directly correlates with who you are on the spectrum. Do you enjoy it when other people enjoy looking at you or do you dislike when people look at you. Of course there are a ton of factors to these things but the truth of the matter is no matter how much a person (especially women) claims they don't care what other people think isn't a lie but certainly isn't the entire truth.

"Early Access Culture" has become normalized for many people who think that the only way to play video games is to throw top dollar at a work-in-progress (whether labeled "Early Access" or just the standard buggy and incomplete release), play it over and over while the developer continuously _updates_ it and adds new _content,_ and then when the updates stop, abandon it as a "dead game" and move on to the next transient experience.
Dead Space Remake 2023 is a really good example. Kendra was mentioning she would never mess with her “girlfriend” in the intro. She was not gay in 2008, and I don’t know why that bothered me so much when I played it last year. Seemed extremely unnecessary. Feels like the gay woke mentality is being forced on us. Many gamers say "these woke games aren't made for gamers" and they're definitely NOT wrong at all, its 100% true. After doing a little bit of research into Blackrock and ESG-funded games, the reason why 99.9% of these woke games are so bad is because they're NOT meant for gamers of any kind, they're meant for investors, shareholders and to accumulate more ESG points. Most of these woke "games" (and I use the term "games" very loosely) are political propaganda tools disguised as "games". The woker the game, the more ESG points these developers get, and with more ESG points comes access to bigger funds, more payouts to the CEOs & more loans. Although that revenue stream is short-lived because after their woke games flop and their companies go out of business (like Volition when they released that horrible Saints Row reboot), the ESG money, bonuses, loans & prizes all comes to an end. Either way, thats why all these DEI-infested ESG-funded games are so bad, like laughably bad, because most of these devs purposely try to make their game as woke as possible to satisfy woke-shareholders. A lot of these devs also dont even care if their games flop, they just go from project to project injecting it with woke propaganda because they know that they're gonna get their cash & prizes from their big-daddy investor BlackRock. Its basically almost like a money-laundering scheme. Make a game, fill it with as much DEI nonsense as humanely possible to satisfy investors (not caring about the fact that it will destroy said game), release it to the public, and collect their ESG-payouts regardless if the game flops or not (although if its woke, it most likely will flop). Then they rinse & repeat. Its almost a never-ending cycle. The only way it will ever end is when every single studio that embraces DEI goes bankrupt due to all their games flopping & gets shut down. Then we will finally see this all go away. But yea, thats why gamers with common sense hate woke games because these games arent meant for them. As I said, woke games are almost like money-laundering schemes disguised as "games". Its like a scam, but a legal scam where they cant get into any trouble with the law.
I mean most of the popular "gay" games I know of are indie projects like celeste, undertale, stardew valley, slime rancher, cult of the lamb, signalis (this game is peak and everyone should play it), uktrakill... And then you have those big games like the new saints row or concord that are just bad games no one wants to play, people focus on the woke and pronouns and say that is why the games fail but it is not, we also have apex legends which is extremely popular even tho most characters are lgbtq.
This isn't really a critique, you're just listing the games you prefer. They're still making cool stuff like DOOM: The Dark Ages which should be right up your alley. People have different tastes, that's all.
It's simple, boycott every single one of these forced pandering content games. Problem solved, this is why I built up a large collection of 5th through 7th gen games to enjoy. I'm a 61 year old gamer, so I can easily see what is good & bad with clarity.

As a woman who plays video games, I want a game with cool weapons and action. If I wanted “slice of life”, I’d play Sims. I grew up with og Wolfenstein and Duke Nukem. Gimme the violence.

I'm a woman who grew up on 2000 games. I remember the description of dmc3 on the box with the game: "Dante is diabolically young, diabolically handsome and devilishly angry with his brother Vergil that he swears to kill..."(not accurate description since I'm not American) and there is a picture of angst young man with a sword. This sold the game for me! Resident evil 2 description was also hardcore and threw challenge. Still one of my favorite games.

I Disagree that the developers are the problem. Let's look at the big picture here and find the core systemic problem with entertainment industry. Corporation is an entity with many limbs, developers are just one limb of many. The head/brain (CEO/managers) is part of the problem that manages the direction of the developers but not the core problem either. What the entity consumes as in effect the loans coming from investing company that asking for political agenda to be included in the game is the core problem here for company to survive. Company needs loans to develop games, then they consume these toxic loans that lead to their demise.

I just wanna add to the list. The entire F.E.A.R series and The Darkness series. These are some manly badass games that grabbed my attention. Violence, edgy characters, and super fun. Nowadays horror games are sissy psychological shit that feel like point and clicks
I also wanna mention Clive Barker's Jericho. It had a lesbian. It had women. But it was also one of the best games I've played. There was guns and gore and testosterone. There was morbid jokes and no sissy shit

I’ll be honest, as a straight female who enjoys art more than anything-absolutely none of the current games interest me. I can’t even remember the last I checked the PlayStation store. The Black Myth Wukong, God Of War, Red Dead Redemption, Star Wars Battlefront, SilentHills-all that stuff got my interest. Even if I can’t play all of them, I still enjoy watching other people playing them. Modern art and modern games only keep getting worse and worse, and I think I hate watching stuff I used to like go down hill.
