I have gotten lots of questions on some of my favorite items that have helped me before and after my tarlov cyst surgery, so thought I'd chat about some of them here. These are just some of my must-haves, but I realize they may not work for everyone so if you have favorites, comment and I'll add them to the list!

Oh, I'm so sorry I missed this comment. I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but you certainly are not alone. Hopefully you're now on or can get on the path to feeling better. 8 years is a long time to go without the correct diagnosis. 😪

I'm so glad I found you on here. Thank you so much for posting your journey. I'm in the NE area of the US and the doctors that myself and my mom have been to have acted as if these are no big deal. And even have had a doctor say what is that I've never heard of a tarlov cyst before. Do ty,ty,ty And I hope you are feeling much better!

These doctors that pass this off as "nothing" are seriously so frustrating. Almost anyone with this diagnosis can probably share the same experience - I know I too had doctors that turned an eye at this or just had no idea what tarlov cysts were. It's such a frustrating struggle!

Hello, my name is Cary Dinning and I am from the Mississippi Delta. I had a MRI done on lower spine and also my C-spine in the spring of this year. On my report it said I have a Tarlov Cyst, and I had never ever heard this disease. On my cspine MRI it showed 2 budging discs, which I also had no idea I had. The reason I had either of the scans was because I was having multiple bouts of numbness in my left arm and horrible lower back pain. I have been an EMT since 1999 and honestly just thought the pain was from years of lifting pts, equipment and all of the physical activity I do with my job. But of course some of the pain had to do with that, but in trying to research the cyst the pain kinda made some sense for the low back pain. I actually now work in a doctors office and not on an ambulance all of the time, just every now and again on a truck. When I first got my report I asked all of our providers in my clinic, and none of them had ever heard of the Tarlov cyst. We also have a pain management clinic here in our small town area and I also talked to him and that doctor also had not heard of the cyst. I’m at a point where my pain is getting a little bit worse but it’s not something that is an unbearable pain just a nagging pain. It makes me feel extremely stiff in my lower back and sometimes it feels better to kinda walk bent over some. Having said all of this I do have a few questions. First do I just start with going to a spine specialist or do I need to wait until the pain gets worse? I don’t want to go on pain meds cause I’m scared of the potential consequences of what all that entails. My family doctor wanted me referred to a place called NewSouth Neuro Spine Center in Jackson, MS. He did say don’t let someone just jump straight out of the gate and say do surgery, even with the budging discs in my neck. So honestly I didn’t even do the referral because it kinda scared me. But now here I am, pain is getting a little worse as time goes on, and I am truly worried about what’s to come. Any advice would be a tremendous help and greatly appreciated. You are a true inspiration to me and thank you for reading my all over the place comment. God Bless you in your healing and recovery. 😊

Hello, so sorry - I'm just now seeing this! My apologies on the delay. I'm so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. It's definitely an interesting one, especially when so many people (doctors) have no clue about it. I am not a doctor, so I can't advise you what to do, but I would recommend checking out the Tarlov Cyst Disease Foundation website and read up there. Once I got my diagnosis, that's what I did - started googling. I didn't want to mess around with docs who really didn't know, so I sent my images right to the expert. There's also some great tarlov groups on Facebook- just search and you'll find them. They can be overwhelming but a great source of info. My recovery has been really good and many say that may be because I got on top of it right away and didn't wait until I was completely debilitated. Bu then, you may have permanent damage and I didn't want to risk it. I would connect with those expert doctors and see what they think about your case. How are you feeling now?

Don't fear pain meds if it's opioids your referring to . They're mostly no longer available due to doctor's no longer have control license's anymore. If you mean gabapentin cymbalta. Avoid at all cost yes.

Oh, a fellow Michigander! Sorry to hear you are going through this too, but I'm so glad you found this to be helpful. Hopefully you checked out my surgery week video - best advice I can give is to just listen to YOUR body. We're all different and will heal differently, so listen to your body and let it lead your recovery, not anyone else's journey. Also, here for you if you need to talk! Best wishes as you wait to get on this other side of healing. 🙏❤️

Hi Katie, I've been dealing with TC's for a while and suffering quite a lot. I'm meeting with Dr. Schrot next week and I'm ready to get the surgery done and begin healing. Thank you for your video journey- it's been so helpful. In you video here you mention that are going to put the rolling bed tray in your shopping list but I don't see it. Can you tell me which one your sister purchased for you? There are quite a few and I just want a basic one. Thank you so much! You've given me hope.
