I have been working on a few exciting projects today and trying to catch up with all your questions. Today I am inviting you into my home studio and sharing the main tools I use for digital textile design work. Of course, I have other tools, like sketchbooks and pencils, watercolors, and acrylic paints, but the topic of this particular video and blog post is a collection of essential tools for your digital textile design studio.
So welcome, my amazing, creative friend! 🙂
I am a vector artist and designer and this is my vector artist's home studio setup. It will probably be different if you work with traditional media more. This current setup is a bit old. I purchased most of these tools in 2012-2013 after moving to California. I am still proud of it as the tools still work well and I want to show you that you can do a lot with your older tools, especially if you invest in good quality ones. You can get a good number of years of work out of them.
* Here are the main tech TOOLS that I use:
1) Adobe Illustrator CC 2015: www.adobe.com/p...
2) iMac 21.5": amzn.to/2wdt5ks
3) Wacom Intuos 4 Pen Tablet - current version is Wacom Intuos Pro Pen and Touch Small Tablet: amzn.to/2punH7v
4) Logitech Wireless Mouse: amzn.to/2y9xqSZ
5) Printer+Scanner Combination. Canon Pixma MG6620 printer and scanner: amzn.to/2y9LaNF.
*Disclaimer: If you purchase recommended by me products through my affiliate links I get a small compensation
(at no additional cost to you). This helps me create more helpful resources for you guys! Thank you so much for your support! 🙂

Thank you so much, Oksana, for this wonderful tour of your studio. I very much appreciate your sharing the tools you are using to create designs, it helps me as I am in need of replacing my computer soon and would love to have the correct equipment to begin a new career! You have been a fantastic inspiration to me.

I always enjoy seeing how designers and artists have their studios set up. Thanks for sharing! I'll have to check out your video on the Cintiq since it's something that is on my tool wishlist. I still have a Wacom Bamboo on my desktop but have been using my tablet much more lately for drawing and digitizing. I like being able to draw right on the screen. The Bamboo is great, but it's a small surface and there's a bit of a disconnect between what my hand is drawing and what comes out on the screen, and I've never gotten completely used to that.

Lovely studio! Loved watching other creatives setup their office. I have used the bamboo and now i'm using the intuos, both are great, the bamboo last a long time until it broke down on me. My husband use the mobile studio pro, and he like it.. I will try borrow his one of this days to get the hands on.

would inkscape work instead of illustrator just to start. Inkscape is a free open sourced version of illustrator??
@NoNamePerson18
@NoNamePerson18 5 лет назад
You can use inkscape, but you cant use any kind of tablet or graphics tablets, because inkscape is not compatible with graphic tablets, you use "Krita" its free and its has repeating patter support or options, and its pretty much work with tablets and graphics tablets, but it wont be in vector format, you can create in krita and convert it into vector format in inkscape

Hi...Thanks for sharing. I am a color consultant and create custom color palettes for clients to shop with. Can I use my Apple iPad Pro as my tablet to create designs. I have an Apple Pencil. Haven’t used it much. Not sure what program I’d have to be in to draw on my iPad and ha e it show up on my iMac. Do you find photoshop is better than illustrator? Thanks so much, Oksancia.
@oksancia
@oksancia 6 лет назад
Thank you, dear Ursula! I use only Adobe Illustrator to create my designs, so I can't compare with PSD. I use a graphic tablet for my work, not iPad. You can definitely use iPad with a pen and an app such as Procreate to draw on iPad and later transfer it to start your work and upgrade to a graphic tablet over time. Good luck!

oksancia Thanks. I have Procreate on my iPad but haven’t tried it till moments ago. Interesting. But, not easy. 😉

Does it take much experience to learn adobe illustrator? How does a graphic tablet differ from an iPad?
