@@alvinterence Thank You it is crazy to hear how much goes in to a moment of magic, just my Banded routine took me years to create then years to get smooth enough for TV, and I know all the other creators have similar dedication. I am glad you agree with me and think it is interesting, what actually goes in to magic.
It's very cool of u to dedicate the video to thanking and acknowledging others! Also seeing you rattle off other versions of the same trick and cutting footage of it is very helpful. Great job and congratulations!
I did find it strange that one of the biggest names in magic with his most well know effect on the market, was never heard of by penn and teller, but thoroughly enjoyed seeing you perform with Teller as the volunteer.
You deaerve every praise. You are simply great. Your act is so simple but in truth is complicated. Your sleight of hand is invisible even when Teller is 2 or 3 feet near you.
Hey Garrett! It was awesome seeing you on the show! I was lucky enough to help with your show at Mansfield University last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Congrats!
Congrats man I knew you could do it. Your magic is amazing. I still remember when you fooled me with a simple toss of your ring in the bar at the Portland magic jam. I was so wanting to help find your ring and then you had it on your finger the whole time....lol. It was simple but amazing.....lol. 😁👍 thanks man
Good to see you mention De'vo. His and Jerry Cestkowski's work got me into card flourishes almost 18 years ago. Congrats on your win and all the best in your future. Stay creative.
For some reason I can’t reply to you other question... Your question about the other video, will be cleared up soon I talked with the guy, and know he understands the magic terminology that he was mistaken on, we are working on him posting another video to clear up his missunderstanding.
I watched that and was just amazed. Knowing how one little part of the trick didn't help. You did it so well and then threw your own curve with it and used your ring finger and I didn't see how you did that. I read some of the common but it didn't ruin it for me, if I never figure that out, I'm good with that. Congratulations 👏👏👏😎🇨🇦🙏
@@aviad4 Couldn't find it on the website. Nor in the archives of the website. They also have to explain the trick to someone prior to the show. If he lied about it, he wouldn't have gotten the trophy. So my guess is you're full of it.
The sign of a really great magician is when the "experts" claim you are cheating because what you are doing is impossible. I've watched other magicians do some parts of your tricks so I know that you are not cheating. Thanks, Garrett. You are a true professional. Your Fool Us amazed not only me but Penn and Teller, too. See? You're that good!
As I said in your previous video, amazing sleight of hand. Now, the trophy says "I fooled Penn and Teller". Not Voutsaraki or any other viewer and that's what matters. For me you didn't lie, Penn asked the wrong question (wrong conclusion), and Teller was there with you. You fooled them, period. Keep going. Again congratulations!!!
Seems Penn and Teller are honest too, in that if they know it's "sleight of hand or "some props" will say they are fooled unless the see the exact method (as there are multiple ways). Lots of us guessed the multiple ways, but could not see the exact method. Probably similar to Penn and Teller, so they were fooled, as they could not pin down the exact way, other than skill and craft, that it was done.
Fooled Penn & Teller with a lie and deceptive wording and ring switch at end, the point is the trick he did included a gimmicked ring. What Penn & Teller should have asked is if you can do that with 'Any Ring around same size/dimensions'
I certainly know very little about the topic, but I thought the appearance on FU was marvelous. Thank you. The only sad part, for me, were the clueless idiots who posted videos on RU-vid claiming that Garrett “cheated” (or worse “lied”) during the appearance (I.e. by not being truthful in the answer to Penn’s question about how the trick was done). Setting aside the fact that it’s essentially impossible to “cheat” on FU (I.e. given that the off-screen Producer knows how the trick is done and would call-out anyone who attempted to lie to P&T; as, in fact, has happened in the past) it seems all but impossible that someone as talented and established as Garrett would risk trashing his entire reputation by trying to pull so transparent a stunt. In short, more than clueless, they’re just jealous.
@Celtrics I would need to ask a follow up question first... There are some rings the method of the effect will not work with what so ever. I am sure you are not one of those people that think that I was claiming to really be taking my fingers off. That is magicians artistic license. As for the actual method it is a marketed published effect so I can’t talk method. But in the video I teach how to do the effect with different style rings so you can make it your own.
@Celtrics Penn adressed this on Sunday School, and said it was a problem of editing. The part that Garrett fooled them with was different than what the show made it looked like.
Yo I'm super late to this vid but the finger flourishes gave me ASMR, I've not seen anyone do magician tier finger flourishes close to the camera like that, anyone have recommendations to where I can see more?
He can't lie on stage, there are fool us judges who knows how the trick was perfromed and they decided that he fooled Pen and Teller. If you want to know how, you can learn his routine as he said.
I love when magicians treat magic tricks like open source. I don't think knowing how a trick is done diminishes its value. It might make it more amazing. It requires a lot of creativity and practice to pull it off correctly. Just because I saw a magician showing how tricks are made, doesn't mean I can make them. Also helps to improve critical thinking. Many people are tricked by fraudsters, who might do something like simple magic tricks (usually only with words). I loved to read the Martin Gardner books, with those simple cartoons. Even when I didn't fully understand them when I was a kid. Math and magic can be related.
Congratulations, I cannot think of someone who is more deserving of this. You have elevated magic and are one of the most creative people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.
Great act on Penn and Teller. I think I might know how you did it, but I didn't SEE anything except for one small movement at round 3.13 that made me suspicious. Otherwise.... one of the great slight-of-hands I've seen...
I need to know how it happened Edit.. ahhh I see after watching it slower in this video you did 2 separate tricks on the show. The one on your hand was more of a slight of hand. Show it on top of finger go and grasp when going over it with hand and slide it onto the next
@@pooblock4092 He didn't lie. They said ONE ring that comes apart. Not one ring and one half of a ring. He earned that trophy. Also the producers would have caught him if he had lied.
its so frustrating how many great magicians try and don´t get the trophy while another one of basically equal skill gets it just because whe lied when asked whether an object is gimmicked or not. "it is an absolutely normal ring" is just untrue and that´s exactly what garrett said when asked
You literally can't lie. There are other judges on the show and you have to show them and explain to them your act beforehand, so you really can't lie about it. If you did, they would just stepped in and made a ruling, so you wouldn't get the trophy. It actually happened a few times.
Penn Jillette in an interview stated that one of the biggest tells to how a trick is done is if you market it as impossible. When he had teller hold his finger at the top so nothing could be done at the top the only possible way it can be done is a gimmicked ring lmfao. He was literally holding the top of his finger there is no sleight of hand possible that you could take a ring off of his finger or put one on. At that point teller instantly knew it was a gimmicked ring. “If you present a trick as completely impossible its easy to figure out because the only way you think it would be done is the only way it can be done” -penn they were nice enough to give you the option to admit its a gimmicked ring or to lie and take the trophy, penn made that statement in that interview for people like you who choose the lie.
He did not lie. He even sells his effect, Ive been performing it myself for quite some time at this point. Its not a gimmicked Ring, and he cant lie on the show. The producers know the method
i wear the ring myself as a regular ring. it's a normal ring. they had their options to guess what the method was. they respectfully don't guess the method by casting a wide net through throwing out several options. they had to pick one guess to stick with, and went with specific phrasing to avoid guessing by casting a wide net. by the acknowledgement of penn, teller, and the offstage magic staff, they guessed wrong. so many magicians have the trick, and understand that the trophy was won and awarded legitimately.
There is a video by Irehman7 about how he originally thought Garrett lied but turns out he did not. It certainly slight of hand, not a ring that breaks apart. He even interviews the producers of the show to confirm that Penn and Teller were legitimately fooled, NOT lied to.
I think Penn and Teller missed their moment to realize it was 2 rings, and that was when you did the thumb trick. When I saw you do the thumb trick, I realized no amount of sleight of hand could have transferred one ring over to the other hand like that in the amount of time and with your hands being in those positions and so logic would require there to now be 2 rings at play. They probably just didn't think about it.
Ultimately he lied, as Penn & Teller pointed out the use of a gimmicked ring. Obviously it had to include a gimmicked ring, even if he switched out with another midway or at end.
He didn't lie. They said ONE ring that comes apart. Not one ring and one half of a ring. He earned that trophy. Also the producers would have caught him if he had lied.
@@CherrySeeds2118 it was either a trick finger or a trick ring, if they had guess trick finger, then yah he gets the trophy. they guessed the ring, they were right. shit me at home guessed the ring. its honestly a very VERY simple and easy to figure out trick. its very hard to do im sure but at the end of the day in the real world when u see someone pass something solid through something else solid. 1 of those 2 solid things is "not solid" is the "trick" and dude they %110 called his trick correctly
At first I was like, yeah you lied. Give the trophy back. But wait ✋ isn't that what this whole gig is about? Lying? You elaborately fool people by misdirection, gimmicks, strings, mirrors, video (which really is just a movie, don't know how anyone falls for that) and just straight up lying. So yeah. Keep the trophy. Best liar wins in magic. 👍 It could be worse, you could've been a crook, a lawyer or a politician or a news anchor.... at least you choose the most harmless profession to cultivate your skill of lying. I always root for the magician to fool P&T!
He didn't lie. They said ONE ring that comes apart. Not one ring and one half of a ring. He earned that trophy. Also the producers would have caught him if he had lied.
