My thoughts on JW Broadcasting 44 - August 2018 (with Stephen Lett) 

I would qualify that in saying he speaks to his audience like they are CATACLYSMICALLY RETARDED little children.

I always imagine Stephen Lett in oriental clothes sitting on an Arabian market square telling stories of 1000 and one night. There is his place and he would be less harmful by far!

this actually raised a question for me. Can anyone tell me WHAT makes these elders.. elders? Like did they go to university to study their scriptures? Do they take years of study? Do they study the original languages of the bible? Because I know that with rabbis they have to go to university and get a degree in religious studies FIRST and then they also have to have a good knowledge of modern hebrew before being accepted into rabbinical school where they then spend years studying the history of the torah, the talmud and mishnah and other books, the differing arguments and ways to read torah, historic jewish philosophers, biblical Hebrew and Aramaic etc. etc. And i know like... catholic priests kind of have a similar thing? so... do jw elders do that too? Is that how they become elders? or are they elected? I genuinely dont know. @johncedars you were an elder right? How was that title given to you?

They are chosen from among the congregation by a higher ranking overseer, i believe. Age, talent and knowledge aren't factors so much as loyalty and obedience are. I only know one elder I'd describe as a scholar. My childhood friend was baptised at 11 and an elder by 22.

Agree its very scary that to even think or dare to ask a legitimate question is seen as unforgivable this watchtower leadership is getting worse by the hour I do believe they the so called gb are being controlled told what to say something is terribly wrong with them

Rita Malik best thing I can suggest is just leave.. no one is going to believe you, no one will want to believe you. The religion takes the people you know and love and turns them into a pawn to keep you in. Just leave and create a new happy life being a good kind person and love all sorts of people. I spent so much time and energy trying to save people from the religion, it took time to let go but now that I have I feel at peace. Best of luck

This goes back to their circular argument about them being chosen by Jesus as the only true religion. Everything is always about "the light is getting brighter" but that means Jesus would have chosen a false religion back in the early 1900's or its a false religion now (always been false as we know). They had completely different beliefs back then. It make no sense at all but they will just go in circles rather than admit they're wrong about anything

Asiel MILIAN Yes. Not trolling. Autism. Sometimes when you speak to kids with Autism you have to really break it down the way that he does. When he gives you the definition of the word built into the sentence, that’s actually a really good way to teach kids a new word. The problem is, he’s talking to adults. I think if I met someone like that in real life, I would be very hard pressed not to go off on them. And even with kids (Autism or no), you explain things to them but it doesn’t mean that you’re any better than them. Kids know when you’re being smarmy with them. You can tell he’s used to being around people who won’t interrupt him much less explain to him that he’s really being rude and talking down to them.

Asiel MILIAN Just to clarify, I have no formal training in regards to teaching kids with special needs. All of my knowledge is through interaction and observation with a close family member (over 40 hours every week for many years).

First in 1929, when Joseph Rutherford built Beth Sarim; second in 1975 when Frederick Franz predicted it; third in 90s when the Watchtower predicted Armageddon to be before year 2000. Not to mention, the child abuse cases committed by elders, the Mexico-Malawi double standards scandal, and most of all, Watchtower’s membership to the United Nations in 1992.

I have met "Brother" Lett, he does not speak like this in normal conversation. He is far more curt and abrasive. I think he speaks this way to not sound like the jackass business man he is. He is by far the most disingenuous member of the GB imo. Morris is bad but he believes it...

He had a younger brother who suffered from autism and he used American Sign language to communicate with him. Before I learnt this from a fellow Bethelite I thought he had been a boxing prize fighter in the past and taken too many head blows. You're very welcome. Judges and prosecutors are used to dealing with very nervous people, even witnesses (who can't commit perjury, according to our laws) act as if they were on trial in terms of how jittery they get when giving their testimony. It's not uncommon for people on court to use language that is more polished than they would normally employ but under pressure this can affect the clarity of what they are trying to convey. So at first the judge cut the JWs some slack when they spoke in a very robotic manner, as if they were reading off a script. But when he started to get more JWs and realized they literally used the exact same speech, word for word, he was astonished and angry. Time and time again the WTs would defer to the Watchtower and needed be reminded that the organization and its POV was not in question but their individual, personal views were. As he put it, "The Watchtower won't land in jail, you will." The judge even addressed the lawyer to warn him that telling his clients exactly what words to say was detrimental to them but this served no purpose. The lawyer seemed to want his clients to go to jail, which is amazing. I asked my mother if she noticed any reluctance in the JWs in dealing with a woman prosecutor but apparently not. I suspect they were too concerned with the judge who, given the nature of the trial, had bigger role. That and the fact that I'm not too sure the average 18 year old JW even knows exactly what a prosecutor is or does. As it turns out, the prosecutor role, in Portugal, allows for intervention when the lawyer is incompetent and/or the judge is being very strict. In this case, it should be the lawyer who appealed but it was up to my mother to do so as he did not bother. I am not sure if he was pro bono, if the WT paid him or if the defendants hired him; what I do know is that he was associated with the WT in some capacity. I can't imagine a non-JW lawyer to ever take up a defense that will lead to their client going to jail, even if it's only for a few days, if it can at all be avoided. It'd be interesting if the judge was introduced to the way JW cult mentality works, he tried all he could to break it (in his early days he would spend a long time talking with them, trying to convince them that non-military service was great all around as it helped others and was something to add to their resume) with absolutely no result. He never gave up entirely but at one point he knew by heart what they were about to say...so it became impossible to make any headway. If I were the lawyer, I'd probably try to get another judge as this one was obviously prejudiced but, again, very little effort was put into defending anyone.

I grew up non-denominational Christian in rural Illinois and never had any direct contact with JW's as the closest kingdom hall would have been in the capitol city Springfield, but I've learned quite a bit about the organization from this channel and others on RU-vid. It's interesting to imagine Lett interacting with congregations and other people as I've only ever seen him in these broadcasts form the last few years.

Horrible cult I broke free at 16 and went through counseling and now I’m almost 40 and still dealing with no family no childhood friends I had to figure out who I was what I liked it was crazy when I left I was like a baby in a grown up body this cult denies u of all the things ur suppose to figure out as a child and adolescent teenager bc everything is controlled for u. Didn’t know how to be normal make friends socialize or even differentiate between genuine and fake friends bc everything was a little e growing up so that’s what u recognize as relatable long story short this organization needs to be stopped and its leaders brought up on criminal charges for all forms of abuse. This cult destroyed generations of my family. Most jws are born in. We have to find away to stop 🛑 this cult. I never saw someone become a witness from preaching in my experience it’s mainly a vicious cycle passed down through generations bc they don’t know any better bc it’s all they know then these kids get baptized and are trapped to stay or they will lose all their family and friends like I did. I have not one cousin uncle aunt brother sister father bc of this religion they were all born in and scared to leave bc then they will be alone like I am. But I’m not alone my mother left so I have her and new friends and family I make with real people that let me think for myself. So don’t be scared to all reading this who want to leave bc u know It’s wrong u will be ok get a counselor and it’s ok to cry. I know it’s hard but I am happy and proud of my self now and I have love now and real friends. And most importantly I have my mind and am not controlled and slaving for old false prophets in Brooklyn making them rich. U can be free too break the chains u were lied to by master manipulators
